Has anyone here ordered directly from bestfoxcall UK since Brexit?

Their ordering system removes UK Vat on checkout.

But I don't think they are applying Irish VAT, so I expect the delivery will get hit for Customs and handling fees.

    Can anyone confirm this?

If its coming from the UK, yes it'll get hit. All "exemptions" were removed on July 1st so everything is subject to VAT at 23% up to €150 and customs fees of I believe 8% on goods over €150 (as well as VAT). Plus its added to the total price of goods and shipping.

Yep, as I expected... thanks for confirming.

It's a pity more UK sellers don't pre-clear shipments to Ireland and charge the 23% vat.

My wife gets plenty of clothes that way from UK, but I guess its not so easy for small businesses to adopt this model.

Buying from market places like Ebay, etc. and they add the charges to the total price. I wonder though are you paying vat on the goods in the uk and here. You would be entitled to claim the vat back from the UK as you don't have to pay twice, but how many do this? Someone is winning here and its not the buyer.

I discovered Amazon UK will ship to Ireland, 2 day free delivery if your a Prime member (well worth it,). Amazon deduct UK vat and apply Irish vat. Items ship Pre-cleared for customs so never had an issue or extra fees to pay.

Only problem is that Amazon don't stock nearly as much as Ebsy etc, but its getting better over time.

Anyway, got what I wanted in the end, asked the Irish distributors to go get the item, no bother, just had to wait a week.

Did you have to do anything "special" when ordering. If I go onto Amaon UK, granted its been a while, some items are marked as not shipping to Ireland and even more are marked as "out of stock", but if I change my location to the UK it comes back into stock. IOW they don't want the hassle of shipping to Ireland.

The VAT thing, if it does work that way, is better than Ebay as Ebay apply UK VAT and Irish VAT and leave it to you to try and recoup the VAT from th UK which I'm sure the majority don't bother to do.

Nothing special afaik, there probably are sellers who won't ship to Ireland, just like on eBay.

And as for the Vat, yes eBay sellers don't care about local Vat, thats the buyers problem.

Bur I guess Amazon operate a little differently, if I set my location as Ireland then get to see all prices in Euros with shipping shown too.

Sometimes large items are not free shipping for obvious reasons.

And as a bonus I get Amazon Prime movies channel, nothing very special but handy for just 7 euros a month.

Oh, and a big thanks to Owen in Outdoorsports for sorting me out, he was quick to order up an Icotec part.

Are spinning furry decoys allowed for foxes?

I thought the only decoys allowed were for ducks, geese & pigeons.

AFAIK laws relating to "decoys" only cover certain birds. There is no legislation restricting their use for the likes of foxes, mink etc.

If you buy directly from amazon they ship to ireland, and because they are VAT registered here they can remove the UK VAT, add Irish VAT and ship no hassle.

If you buy from a third party on amazon, a lot of them dont bother with the shipping to Ireland anymore because of the tax and duties.
