A significant point of note here is that these drones were able to locate a covertly placed naval vessel at night and distinguish it from civilian ships operating in the area.

If you can take it as a given that every line of sight vantage point from which the terminal flight path of Zelenskys aircraft could have been threatened was under surveillance by security services here, it could indicate the drones operated from a mother ship with a high degree of surveillance and detection capability, potentially of the sub-surface type.

Thinking about this further, two Air Corps flights were probably in the right place considering:

    -no fly zone over Dub

-away completely from civil flights and dep/arr routes (although, technically they could just sit above it)

-could monitor southern sea and air approaches

-Dublin airport probably had their anti drone tech in use, so were far enough away for them to monitor the rest of the city and bay

    Another "no" from me

But at the same time, its important that the gaps in national security are scrutinised and the vulnerability of aspects of our economy and society are impressed upon officials and that the effective spending of resources on national security are ensured.

I think there should be a high level Oireachtas committee in place to do that, that operates largely 'in camera' and is sworn to the Official Secrets Act, just like the Select Committee on Defence and the Intelligence and Security Committee at Westminster, or the Comité de Salut Public in the National Assembly in Paris, which covers intelligence and defence.
