Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

in 2021 things need sorting asap and can't wait for key people to return

    sad but true

Outside of the emergency services, there is rarely anything that cannot wait.

Indeed. The ability to contact anyone at any time has created a sense of false urgency around the most mundane of tasks where some people expect that just because an instant response is technically possible, that it is necessary.

Literally unless the future of the company is dependent on a quick answer, there is nothing so urgent that it cannot wait for a response.

I think you need to note down your feelings now and some facts and then come back fighting.
The facts will be forgotten by the end of the year but the feelings won't - you can't let the feeling that you are somehow in the wrong linger.

A direct conversation with your boss how you aren't happy with his/her implications and that they should acknowledge that the change wasn't your decision
and you interrupted your break to manage it for them.

You might want to temper it if otherwise there are cuts or whatever coming up.
How badly do they need you/how easily could you find new work/ how easily could they replace you?

This unfortunately is common in companies originating in the US, with a 24x7 work culture. For instance, having worked in Sysadmin, I'm familiar with US based employees being on call / reachable even on PTO. Apparently it is to do with being a "team player". The flip side is the volume of burnout and health problems in IT staff.
