    Current Affairs/IMHO

I hope the situation in Cuba doesn't escalate into a full scale nuclear war

How do we discuss this, the Internet won't be invented for another 21 years.

Marilyn Monroe dies. Suicide or murder?

Don't worry, we figured it out in 1945.

What do you all think of Telefis Eireann? It's a great channel; could start a little earlier than 6 o'clock though.

Just back from a weekend in Liverpool. Went to a gig in a place called The Cavern. Four lads called the Beetles or something playing. They weren't bad.

Some 20 year old is singing Blowin in the Wind, most likely a one hit wonder and we will never hear of him again, think he's called Bob Dylan?

I'm shocked by the Battle of Santiago.

Not a great World Cup so far and can't see Brazil retaining it. Not convinced by your man Pele.

I was just chatting to two priests called Eamonn Casey and Michael Cleary. Found them nice enough, they could go far.

That song will become very well known, but it never made the charts.

My young son just blasphemed, so obviously I lashed him with my belt around 20 times, until the wife said that’s enough, Paddy. I didn’t even make him bleed.

Did I go too easy on him?

That Mr and Mrs quiz on tonight's Late Late Show was interesting. I have a feeling the Bishop of Galway won't be too pleased tomorrow.

ARPANET is only 7 years away

I'm having awful trouble with my PDP1, anyone got some spare core memory I can borrow to test before we put it back in the crate and send it back to the US?

Has anyone else noticed the number of beatniks in the Grafton St area these days? They look absolutely disgusting in their crisp black polo necks and exquisite berets.

I was watching that "Late Late Show" on it there on Saturday night. It's a nice little summer filler, presented by that Gay Byrne from off of the radio. I can't see it lasting though.

I just saw this great revenge thriller in the cinema starring Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum. It's called Cape Fear

President Kennedy’s approval rating is over 80%. I can’t see anyone stopping him getting a second term.

I've been told you should really look for these new "Radial" tyres, but who'd have those I've no idea.

I've heard rumours he'll be visiting Ireland next year. Has some family down in Wexford, apparently.

Aren’t Fianna Fáil doing a fabulous job these days……

I’d be happy if they stayed in power for the next 60 years (at least)

The Americans think they will have a man on the moon by the end of 60's.

It will never happen they are dreaming.

My money is on the Russians.

Brazil are the best team in the world, that’s 2 world cups on the trot now….. my money is definitely on them for 3 in a row in 1966.

Was great. Could light heartedly slag fellow posters off and they would respond in kind without anyone running to the mods.

Woke was a state after sleep and people could laugh at themselves.

I have a bad feeling about Dallas if he plans to visit it late next year

I went to a fortune teller the other day and she was telling me that in future all babies will be born in a hospitial, not at home and the fathers will be present at the birth.

    Mad stuff altogether.

What? You'll never get the day off work for that, are they going to schedule all births to be on Saturdays? Cause Sunday is for mass, the pub and maybe a match, can't be doing anything else then.

I know. Good job this is a male only site so we can discuss the horrors of such ideas.

Don't worry I told the fortune teller it would never catch on in a million years.

I asked for a refund of my half a crown because she was obviously a fraud but she wasn't having any of it.

Who's this pup Gay Byrne on the telebox of a Friday? I don't like his showy hair and blaspheming chatter. I'll tell you one thing, if he starts waving prophylactics around I'm going to send a telegram to the Minister of Posts and Telegraphs to have him sent to read the weather. Didn't the Archbishop warn us that audio visual stimuli in the living room would be the ruination of us as a people?

You think that's bad, I've a friend who works in car manufacturing plant and he was telling me they are working on a lap belt that you would have to wear as the driver!

Imagine, he said he doesn't think it will catch on, too uncomfortable.

I see the government has given into godlessness and is committed decimalization. A punnet of betroot is three crowns, a shilling and sixpence and that's the way it will always be as far as I'm concerned.

Hitchcock’s The Birds is a very disturbing - and terrifying new horror film.

Has anyone read Ken Kesey’s One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest yet? Heard it’s a cracking read!

Pele is useless. Totally overhyped. This new generation of footballers are soft and lacking in character.

I see there's a plan to build a dual carriageway to Naas. What a waste of money, it'll just be white elephant for the benefit of politicians going to Punchestown

Did you hear they're going to turn the James Bond books into films?

Dr No will be out in a few months but it's going to be terrible. They're only after going and casting that eejit Sean Connery from Darby O'Gill and the Little People. He'll never be Bond in my eyes. Should have stuck with Bob Holness.

    WE'RE RICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New houses for all of us, a big trip to Lourdes for all aunts & uncles & all 35 cousins, a new farm, and he said he might spoil himself and get one of those swanky new Massey Ferguson MF35's (no one in our county has one yet).
