After last weekend you said Lyng was too "Conservative" even though plenty of youth mixed with experienced players.

Now you're saying it's a shame he didn't go with these players earlier. It's vital to get a few early wins in the league, management are clearly targeting that to avoid relegation from bottom 2. I just don't think you'll be overly happy or satisfied no matter what they go with.

Yes I know as much as anyone panel needed overhaul and we had no one to make much of an impact in semi final last year when push came to shove.

Most kk supporters agree lyng has being too Conservative.look and cork and Limerick tonight or clare last weekend. Teams looking to find a few players not playing 10 of the team that lost the semi final last year. I'll be happy to see a few lads tried and get a run. I think most people will agree with that. Bring on eoghan lyng,Jordan molloy or Shane Murphy instead of Richie Reid if someone isn't going well.

Sean Stack in pairc ui chaoimh aah the memories. He is like a gun slinger. How many cards?

Yes but I think it's clear to see we are going with a different approach this year in the early stages anyhow. I think several players will step up this year which will be fantastic hopefully. We need all new players to push really hard, will definitely be 2 Corner back spots available in my view although management might disagree on that one, a spot at half back should be up for grabs, Mcdonald should push hard for Championship at midfield and possibly 1 or 2 spots up for grabs in forwards.

Really hope Adrian Mullen can get hurling full games again soon. He didn't get to hurl much with Shamrocks in Club championship much last year and seems like he needs to get a few niggles sorted badly.

delighted Podge Moylan getting a run but it will be some babtism of fire facing Conor Whelan who I certainly rate as one of the top ten forwards in the country and another newcomer in front of him Zac could put him under pressure, anyway if you want to make it you have to come up against the best.

i was half disappointed he didnt start last week , he is a quality player for the future , huge expectations surrounding zack from his minor days but his thomastown days last year were not too bad either

i would have huge question marks over galway after last week and the fact michael donohue called 53 players into the panel , last week it showed and a good few didnt need to be there , there is actually a good few question marks over some of the starting players up there at the moment it could be a long transition , it wont be fixed tomorrow

The first time I saw Zack play as a minor, I thought he was going to be the next Tommy Walsh. He is a superb athlete but I am not sure he has the hurling skills. Good to see players getting a chance. I don't see a lot of scoring power in our forwards, hope to be proved wrong

Zach has shown with Thomastown that he cam be a very good man marker, when he was given a job he can will follow it to the last. Really shut down Heary and Mullen and also showed a bit going forward.

Might never be a consistent starter but could turn himself into a man to do a job for us when needed. He has power and pace and they are a major ingredient who knows the inter county training might turn him into something. Let's hope it does.

Couldn't care less if we win today but if moylan, zach, mcdonald, connellan or dunne go well I'll be delighted.

I think if last years semi final thought us anything it’s that we need to freshen up the starting team a bit but also we need players with some pace and something a bit different to come off the bench to change a game

Dunne and Hammond and a few others could offer than they might not always start but can make a contribution when brought on

We got nothing of the bench against Clare last year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,317 ✭✭✭blackcard

I was very disappointed that Owen Wall was left on the bench that day

100% even if he didn’t get the ball but just made a few runs to draw lads away make space for others and give the Clare backs something else to think about it could have got us over the line

Mikey Butler getting another roasting but again the delivery of ball is absolutely scandalous. That's why kk have being crying out for a coach. Only for mossy it would be some scutching at half time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,673 ✭✭✭me89

Mossy keeping us in the game with 5 great points, not mush else from the rest of the forwards but the ball in has been poor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 154 ✭✭Box to box

It's being more than poor its scandalous. This isn't a league thing this is every year that's why kk need a coach

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,600 ✭✭✭Village87

Paddy Deegan and Mikey Butler are very very poor hurlers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 154 ✭✭Box to box

Deegan has being poor today but butler has being very poor a long time now. Kk fowards have being brutal. Galway swarming kk All over the field

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,159 ✭✭✭BQQ

disappointing, but not the end of the world

Could easily have won it - left some big chances behind
Pitch was very sticky, which made it difficult to play any hurling

second Galway goal was a real sucker punch coming just after we blocked down their keeper - too many got sucked into the ruck and Galway went straight up the middle

    Mossy was excellent again

Shane Murphy played well when he came on and hopefully Derek gives him a proper run in the team now

Still looking for forwards that can contribute outside mossy and Cody

Shine and Billy Ryan did enough when they came on to start the next day

    Need John Donnelly back asap

Glad to see Cody on the frees - we’ll need to move on from TJ eventually, and he’s the logical successor

Disappointing to get ahead and not see out yet another game. I can't understand how they left butler macgoughlan after getting 2-2 from play. Movement again desperate up top along with the brutal ball going in. That ball billy drennan drove wide from 20 yard was catastrophic. So connellan, dunne,Hogan all taken off.galways midfield blew kk out of the water. Shine was very greedy going for a score that wasn't on but they definitely may keep looking at him. It's all about building a panel for the summer but when 3 of your new fowards are replaced it's not great.

Is it worth watching on tg4 deferred coverage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 313 ✭✭jamesbond2022

Today showed how important it is to have Mullen and j Donnelly in the forwards everyday

Cian Kenny and mossy were class

Moylan did well at times bit naive at other times but the more chances he gets the better he ll get

Mac Donald did well again he looks physically able for senior hurling now compared to 2 years ago

Anyone know has T Phelan retired or taken time out we could have done with someone like him playing today

    Tom Phelan long term injury.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 154 ✭✭Box to box

tom phelan,tj,donnelly Tommy Walsh were all doing a bit of training after the match. Eoin cody isn't a natural free taker but they've no choice only leave him on it and get experience. Galway were so much hungrier than kk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,277 ✭✭✭Marrooned

we probably tried two new lads too many. Shane Murphy hurled well when he came in. We never pushed on from the goal and that was the winning and losing of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,600 ✭✭✭Village87

When we had Shine and Drennan on come crunch time they could not win a ball. Where is "For Change" who constantly criticised Mossy and Joh Donnelly, 2 of our best, haven't heard from him in a while

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 154 ✭✭Box to box

Drennans confidence is on the floor. How did he drive that ball wide. Shine was greedy alright. We had billy ryan and Harry shine running into each other. Yes it's very early but another dreadfully poor start. Stamina has being a big problem the last few years.Only for mossy it would of being much worse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 154 ✭✭Box to box

Watching the match again and the ball the kk fowards get is not even 60/40. Anyone who didn't belive me about having **** video analysis all you have to do is look at the ball going in this has being going on years.Surely to god they can see the ball going in is awful. Kk are a very poorly coached team

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,148 ✭✭✭Ceist_Beag

Wait until about 55 minutes in as that's when we started to play a bit!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 154 ✭✭Box to box

Well done Tom mullally, another great result from a excellent manager. The door should of being broke down to get him involved with a kk team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,124 ✭✭✭Charlie69

Disappointing to lose having gone ahead with Cody’s goal and seemed to have all the momentum.

To be fair Galway’s first touch was better in bad conditions and they seemed to want it more than our lads and fought hard for every ball.

We seem to have to have to work very hard for every score compared to Cork and Limerick last night who are both very good at working openings for a man in space, Mossy was excellent again today but he often has to kill himself to win his own ball and then put it over the bar with the odds against him. We don’t get too many handy scores.

I’ll take the positives that we worked hard to get back into the game and good showings again from McDonald Blanchfield and Tallis whose distribution and puck out is very good.
