How do you start a car with a power bank? Is it an electric car?

You don't actually charge the car - came with two wires you just clip it on to the car battery - and start the car as normal even with a flat car battery - it a petrol car.

Only mention it here as its a very good USB power brick to boot.

I charged mine up the other day, no problems. Go to use it today, not a kick out of it when trying to charge something. I can still get it to charge, but not charge anything else. Screen also stopped lighting up when I press the power button on the side. Disappointing as it seemed great.

Cheers guys I filed a dispute. Both ports work, it was just broken plastic in the lightning port but not the best quality control for sure.

Oh crap, I'm now wondering should I have bothered.

It might be worth giving them a good charge / discharge test after the problem SourSessions had.

Sounds like his/ her button might be dodgy keeping it in an off state or something?

good practice to completely discharge a power bank to 0 the after charging near max the first time you use it

mine is working perfectly so far

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,951 ✭✭✭Doge

Didn't think I had any Quick Charge 3.0 devices in the house but I've just realised my DJI Mavic Mini Battery Charging hub uses it so the powerbank charges it at 12 Volts.

Is it? I thought that practice was frowned upon with lithium ion batteries.

people who know a lot more about batteries than you do still recommend it on the first occasion

doing it once is not going to do any damage

Good to know. Would the same apply to anything you charge for the first time, laptop phone etc?

    no idea.

never said it applies to everything with a battery.

power banks sole purpose in life is to charge other sh1t.

go ask the Russian guy :pac:

I recieved mine yesterday, charged it fully and it only was able to put 35% into a galaxy tab through C2C port 🀔 I charged it again and put a half full phone on it through a usbC cable and a meter and it put 3800mah into the phone and was showing 1%, I'll have to try a few more times but banks you'd get for a couple of quid seem to have bigger capacity, apart from capacity, it seems to work 100% eg turbo charging ect

    did a test there

charged a phone with a 3140 Mah battery 33% to 77% (1382 Mah) at fast charging rate

    power bank at same time went from 70% to 59% (1584 Mah at 5V -> multiply 11% * 20,000 * 3.6v / 5v)

allowing for 3.6v on the power bank vs 5V on the phone battery the capacity indications would be not madly off allowing also for roughly 90% efficiency rate of power conversion (especially given efficiency is less at fast charging rates)

I got refunded and ordered another one. I'll do a full discharge on this one and hopefully won't run into any issues.

Got mine last week, no problems so far, seems a great buy.
Can you dash charge the actual power bank?

Can you dash charge the actual power bank?

You can charge it at 18w through usb-c but you must have a charger that can put out at least 18w

    (And the right cable)

You will see it reading 9v 2A if it's fast charging

I got mine a week ago. Was about 70% charged. I used it and let it go down to 0 and today it took 8 hours to charge to 100 for your information.

if it's charging on a charger with at least 18w output charger it will charge much more quickly than that -> less than 5 hours from 0%

sounds like your charger was only providing 10w

I got mine and it's gone from 100% down to 70% charging my phone so far from 35% to 82%.
So it makes me wonder about it having 20000 capacity when my phone is 5100.
If expect it to be able to charge 100% using only 25% of it's capacity

    That's not how it works.

    20000mah at 3.6v Vs 5100mah at 5v

All power banks are at 3.6v
    All phones are at 5v
