The store manager mentioned in the article works in my shop now, one of my colleagues asked him about this and apparently she went into several shops in clonakilty pulling this no mask nonsense and verbally abusing staff.
She's not, by any chance, Gemma's granny, is she?

She sounds like she is a real pain in the neck wasting police time with her stupid selfess right to not wear a mask for the protection of others who she could not care less about .She would most likely argue with the door at home just for the sake of it .

They seem to be catching about 500 pro facers a day, can't be many of us left now.

Unfortunately there’s no shortage of self centered arseholes like her.

No sympathy for this woman. I presume the courts will now jail everyone that is in contempt of court in relation to covid.

    Unless it's a wedding marquee you're organising.

Not unbelievable, she behaved like a stupid vindictive idiot and cares for noone but her own bloody ego, stuck up and self righteous behaviour and she got locked up for the weekend with a conviction for her troubles. Shes 66 she should have some bloody cop on but is instead engaging in fantasy land bull.

    Good enough for her.

Her family sound like they want to disown her.
She sounds like she likes looking for trouble.

If it wasn't COVID mask guidelines, it would be something else IMO.

Aren't we meant to be protecting granny not sticking her in a confined high risk location.
I don't know how it's come to this all she needed was a reasonable excuse, no cert or anything like that is required.

How do you not know? The reports say she was verbally abusive

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Serves her right. I wonder did she get the vaccine?

I guess you could always check your 5G coverage when near her to find out :pac:

If you are at that stage of life, and not bothered about future employment or foreign travels, depending on your beliefs about whether or not you are harming others by not wearing the mask, sure there is no big deal really about spending a bit of time in jail. It will probably even do your reputation good around your area for standing up against the system.

I hope she didn't see what happened to Fran in Love/Hate when he got locked up

    That would be horrific

She looked absolutely terrified and shaken in the picture

I’d say she would’ve gladly worn a mask for the rest of her life if she could’ve avoided jail

Contempt of court. Why did I even bother reading it?

    She got what she deserves.

Maybe with some of the loonier locals but in general, most would view her as being a public nuisance during a pandemic that has killed thousands here, millions globally.

Gob****e. I’ve no time for that kind of nonsense. Hopefully they lock her up and throw away the key.

I'm confused by the contempt of court charge because it's not mandatory to wear a mask in court or, indeed, any government building. I read an article yesterday - unions are calling for the mask-wearing regulations to be changed to INCLUDE government buildings (eg Intreo offices).

I checked on the HSE website and courthouses are def not covered by the regulations

It sounds like the Judge was trying to make a name for himself for locking up a Granny.

Those attending court are requested to observe public health guidance regarding social distancing, hand hygiene, cough/sneeze etiquette and use of face coverings while in the court building and the court room.

The Court Service has set out guidance on how to access the courts safely and we expect all court users will always observe this guidance.

That are acting like a gobsh1te in the court was probably enough, but I'll leave confirmation to the more legal mind.

Great work by the courts as usual, throwing the dangers to our society into jail and keeping the good ones out.

Meanwhile we keep these guys out of prison to keep room for the grannies.

If correct she's in for a nice little pay day.

If correct she's in for a nice little pay day.

That’s not going to happen. From my understanding, she disobeyed a direct order from the judge. She was being disrespectful to the court of law.

Will she be paying the bill if she infected?

Everybody is asked to sanitise and wear a mask while entering a shop , no difference in government building.

Infection has not vanished as some are having parties.

Do yourself a favour use brain and stay safe.
