    Hi all.
My daughter, whos away at college has rang me to say that her central locking is going up and down continuously. 2008 VW polo
I have talked her through removing the fuse so
She can lock the drivers door manually until she's home at the weekend.
Any idea of a known issue with the central locking on this car please
    Regards

Would water/rain have got in at the switches on one of the doors?

She should try open and close each door and the boot so see if there's anything blocking them like a jammed seatbelt or something similar.

    Its both locking and unlocking?

Usually, in my case anyway, it was a loss of or "corrupted" signal from the "zapper" (fob) to the car. It caused the actuator to keep locking/unlocking the car, but in my case it was intermittent at firs then constant. It would unlock as soon as i locked it, and because the door was not opened it auto locked after 30 seconds, then immediately (within 3 seconds) unlocked again.

This was, i thought, a battery issue but changing the battery did not help. I eventually took the key apart and found a faulty solder on one of the switches. I replaced all switches on my key and cleaned the fob down, and never had a bother with it since.

If the key is fine then try and check the actuator.

Sorry. I forgot to reply back with how i got on.
It was the key that was causing the issue.
It's fine now with the spare key.
    Thanks for all the help
