    evict /ɪˈvɪkt/

expel (someone) from a property, especially with the support of the law.

You don't have to live (fulltime) in the property to be evicted. You can be evicted from a business premises.

Time magazine seem to think they were evicted.

So, if he doesn't need the British taxpayers' support, why doesn't he pay for his own security, and stop trying to get British taxpayers to pay for it? The Brits get the square root of Sweet FA from H&M, except for the endless moaning and complaining.

I have no issue with Meghan attending the Invictus Games as Harry's wife, as his support. I think one of the problems that the IG have is that Meghan makes it all about her, grabs the mike and dishes out her own particular blend of word salad, uses the event as a fashion runway, hogs the photographs, marches at the head of presentations, demands high end accommodation, security and travel. It's no wonder the Games lost two top executives. I feel sorry for the athletes who have worked hard to get themselves into the Games.

Let me remind you of the question:

Name me one achievement that makes Harry a living legend of aviation.

Setting up the Invictus Games is entirely irrelevant to achievements in aviation. Of course, it would be a factor in the celebrity side, however.

I'm just confused why you would argue for his inclusion based on aviation merit when it seems like celebrities are common additions anyway.

Is it that people are (rightfully it would appear) questioning Harry's status as a legendary aviator in terms of actual achievement or exceptional skill? I've zero problem with seeing Harry admitted based on the celebrity requirement, he is a famous pilot after all.

I just wonder whether you would jump to Harrison Ford's defense if someone questioned his lack of piloting skill? You do realise that Harry need be not the ultimate best at everything right? You can still look up to, admire, and applaud the prince even if he isn't an exceptional pilot?

Yep, I'm totally in agreement with your take, again I'm not qualified to say, but based on my experience its fairly clear Markle is as we say. The three bullet points you listed have been easily observable. The one thing Id say about Harry, I wouldn't put him following her blindly down to him being dumb. I've seen grown men in real life act that way. They get into a serious relationship and are suddenly in the thrall of their partner. It doesn't seem like the partner is outwardly manipulative, the men just seem to willingly become subservient. Again, this is based on what I've actually seen, Im not making any generalisations etc.

I doubt their exit could have been any fairer given the circumstances despite the gas lighting/rewriting that they were thrown/fed to the wolves. The Queen leant on the government (who decides on security) to ensure they would be safe i.e. be flexible about it. His dad gave Harry 2 million quid when he left which was sufficient to pay for Canadian security costing 35k a month.

This money (along with Harrys own multi millions) would be particularly handy when the Canadian government gave notice that they would no longer be paying for royals seeking privacy as opposed to serving a public role which would have warranted such costs and which could be explained to miffed voters.

They were to have what amounted to a gap year to assess what they wanted to do but their problem was that Covid hit everyone and everything shut down for months and months before they could indulge themselves and exhaust interest in them as flavours of the month in La La Land. I recall a lack of coverage and indifference about them during that time, not obsessive coverage. Meghan reading a book with Archie to camera was about the only headlines they made.

They were also invited to the Jubilee among other invites when everything opened again. Half In/Half Out Lite. Just like the rest of them, they were not allowed to monetise their royal status because it isn't for sale and it was pre-Oprah that they were signing mega deals left and right which, assuming they could justify it, would achieve the financial independence they said they wanted. When it came time to make a decision they stepped down and consequences of that kicked in.

As mentioned this was akin to leaving a job (no more salary, perks, access etc.). Instead of delighting in their freedom and acknowledging the status which got them gigs actually talented people would kill for, they threw a wobbler on Oprah which supercharged the tabloids since they were seemingly bent on being the gift that kept on giving. That was their inflection point. Instead of chugging along as royals about town and enjoying life they opened up a major can of worms and have been scrambling ever since. They've been on a downward spiral in losing access, contacts, relevance, gigs, popularity etc.

They found themselves in no mans land between raking in cash for being so open and unguarded but incurring a reputation of untrustworthiness in parallel which has now stymied them. They are now the grifters you need to be mindful what you say to them in confidence. This counter narrative building of them being kicked out of home and country and scrambling to keep themselves secure and at the mercy of the press is either gas lighting or trolling at this point. For Harry and Meghan it became a narrative they could sell. And sell it they certainly did. The banality of them stepping down seemingly needed to be ingested with more than a modicum of bullshit and fantasy.

I’ve ordered 4 copies to be distributed throughout the loos in my home 😀

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,789 ✭✭✭Karppi

Heavens, that’s a lot of loos. There must be a null point in your house where you are exactly the same travel time from each loo. Any hesitation, dithering, procrastination or indecision could lead to a puddle on the floor!

When Harry flew to Balmoral when the Queen died, he was met by royal police protection and royal household staff in a range rover and driven to Balmoral. Anytime he has flewn in and out of UK from LA for royal occasions (departing the funeral, arrive & depart the corination), he had a police escort plus royal aids drive him in the range rovers. This is all approved by Charles.

If he was to visit his father tomorrow, I can bet my house that he will get the VIP arrival treatment at Heathrow and be whisked away in range rovers with royal police protection approved by Charles.

When he stays at Royal estates, everyone inside gets full protection like other royal family members.

I dont buy this 'lack of protection' when in the UK rubbish.

I believe he wants the same paid protection 24/7 in LA, US and holiday destinations, and he's finding this £3 million security bill a year a bit hard to swallow. He had no idea how much British tax payers were paying for his security before he left with Megan. None of the royal.family appreciate how much is spent protecting them, housing them in half a dozen palaces and grand homes, driving & flying them around the UK and world, hotels while travelling, high end clothes, high spec range rovers & Jags. They dont, and the ones that have sense dont want to find out. But Harry found out the hard way.

Using the queens personal nickname for their daughter was a total dick move, and allegedly she wasn't happy about it. Previously she had said that as prince Philip, the last person to call her that had died, she didn't want to hear it again. For Harry to do this seems almost deliberately cruel. They hijacked something that was special to his grandmother and made it all about them. As usual.

I look forward to Harry and Meghan refuting this claim🤨

Recollections varying hardly covers this level of betrayal and disrespect.

In fact, I understand the Queen was so upset by the Sussexes' decision that she told aides: 'I don't own the palaces, I don't own the paintings, the only thing I own is my name. And now they've taken that.'

They did it out of spite. Then they said she’d agreed to it.

There seems to have been a lot of sources for this book.

If one was cynical, it might seem like the RF are hitting back publicly without being named, and flinging back all the shıt that was aimed at them to make money.

    Very good points.

Even Andrew is beginning to realise that the costs of upkeep of the royal lodge are beyond his means now that he’s no longer a working royal and being subsidised by both the taxpayer and the King now and Queen before that.

The sense of entitlement is extraordinary - on one hand you have Princess Anne wanting to keep her kids grounded (well relatively speaking grounded)-and on the other you have Andrew wanting to play dress-up at every opportunity and demanding to keep the trappings of position he no longer holds outside of his head.

Theres consequences of stopping working as a royal - whether voluntary in Harry’s case or forced in Andrews case- neither have accepted these consequences - have your cake and eat it comes to mind

Yep. Out of spite for not getting their own way. Now the queens very private nickname that only a handful of people ever used will forever be associated with them. Remember when they snarkily said that the RF don't have jurisdiction over the word royal when they were told to stop using the Sussex royal brand? Interesting how their daughters name was licensed and web domains registered as soon as she was born so that no one else can use it commercially.

Now there’s an idea - set up a free website and call it lilibet Diana or as close as possible to that- imagine millions of websites called lilibet Diana 001 right up to 20.000 000 😀

Harry: Hi Gan Gan. We're having a baby girl and we'd like to name her after you. Is that Ok?

The Queen: Of course. *Assumes it will be Elizabeth or Eliza or some variation because Harry and Meghan want to be kewl*

*Announces the name as Lilibet when she is born*

    The Queen: Dafuq?

    Everyone else: Dafuq?

*BBC reporter seeks clarification from a Palace source that this WTAF news was actually approved*

Palace Source: Dafuq. Of course it wasn't.

*BBC report says there was no approval*

Harry: Hey BBC, it was agreed with her Majesty. I'll sue you for telling such lies.

The Queen: What a f*cking liberty!

    😄

Yeah either that or “we’re calling her Lilibet”- no “is that ok?”

As she obviously didn’t object, they later twisted this silence as a proactive approval statement

That is probably very close to the truth as it appears that the family knew she didn't want to be called Lillibet anymore. After all, there is several versions of Elizabeth that Meghan and Harry could have used.

Well, thats bullshit anyway - the Queen claiming that she owned nothing except her name. Its probably the only thing she did not own.

And just in case you think that the Crown Estates own everything - they don't. Balmoral is a private possession (bought by Prince Albert in the mid-1800s).

Balmoral (50,000 acres) remains the private property of the monarch and is not part of the Crown Estate. It was the summer residence of Queen Elizabeth II, who died there on 8 September 2022.

Well, you would bet wrong if you think accommodation will be provided for by his father. Last September he was refused a bed in 600 room Windsor Castle when he asked to stay there so that he could visit his grandmother's tomb on her death anniversary. He had only given 18 days notice and they require 30 days notice.

Imagine all the palaces and houses the royal family own/have access to and they couldn't come up with a bed for one night.

He has not asked for paid security anywhere - he has offered to pay. The issue is the UK because his own US security team are not allowed carry arms and do not have access to intelligence necessary to keep him safe. Thats why he wants the Met and is prepared to pay for it.

I doubt very much that Charles is in charge of the accommodation procedures at all royal residences.

I believe he did invite Prince Harry to Balmoral though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,789 ✭✭✭Karppi

He had only given 18 days notice and they require 30 days notice.

Ipso facto, he hasn't given notice. So he can't have board and lodgings, armed police and especially he can't have helicopter gunships, SAS Troopers, Gurkhas, or Mrs Emma Peel.

Thats what people have to do - register the name to protect the child/product from abuse. Otherwise you could have someone using the fairly distinctive name Princess Lilibet Diana on porn hub with no ability to stop the usage unless its registered/patented.

As for the Queen's nickname - funnily enough, someone published a book who quoted a 'source' as saying that the Queen was really delighted that Harry was naming his child after her. Harry was her favourite grandchild.

Since nearly all her children/granddaughters are named after her (or her mother who was also Elizabeth) if she was objecting to Harry calling his daughter after her, the only conclusion that one could come to was that she was a vile, racist old granny, which I don't think she was.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,338 ✭✭✭✭jm08

He was refused accommodation in Windsor so that he could visit his grandmother's tomb on her anniversary - Balmoral is a couple of hundred miles away and he was in London for an awards ceremony on his way to Germany for the Invictus Games. What use was Balmoral to him in that situation?

He asked for a bed for the night and was refused. Nothing else.

Just for the record, I'm responding to a post which claims that Charles would put him up anytime he wanted to come to the UK.

And there is no way Harry would want to give the leaky palace 30 days notice of when he would be in the country. As you may have noticed, he flies in and flies out quickly in the interests of keeping himself safe from the lunatic British press.
