Anybody have a sample answer for the mortgages problem question about pre 2009 mortgages?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58 ✭✭fe1prep2021

Duress was a full question last year, so I think I am just focusing on Self Defence, Provocation, Insanity and Intoxication

The question was super similar to March 2016, question 8 - the examiner's report for that stated it was examining the law for winding up and that the two parts related to fraudulent dispositions - 608 and unfair preference - 604!

    CONTRACT:

Does anyone have predictions from the Prep Courses? Covering quite a few topics but would be nice to focus on 6 or 7 in more depth than others.

The very best of luck to those sitting Criminal today ☺️

    Constitution

Do people approach their timing in Constitution different than other exams? For online with the extra 30 min I think I did 10min to read through paper & choose questions maybe even scribble inside the boxes random things as I read through, then 40 minutes per question (5 min of that allotted to the start making structure and notes). But constitution is harder to spot the issues. Did anyone have a different format and allow themselves more time at the start to read through?

Yeah I think I will be a bit more flexible with my time and spend longer reading the questions carefully and planning answer - once that is done well I find you'll write the answer a good bit faster especially with typing. Maybe 15 mins to choose questions and read paper and then 35 per question with 5+ mins of that re-reading and planning, and then 20 mins to play with.

Even in other exams I have found that sometimes a topic you've prepped really well for takes less time to do the answer because you know it so well (especially in an essay or something like finding in property which you either know or you don't) and then a PQ that you need to rack your brains about can take a little more time. Might not work for everyone but that is my experience. I still try to keep within general time markers set out though to give each q at least 30 mins!

Can anyone remember what the mortgage question was on last sitting of property in March?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 250 ✭✭fe1ki5

There was no mortgage Q in March 2021 or the October/Nov sitting in 2020.

That’s right!!! It was a family property problem question in March I think? Might have got confused!

have questions on the family home always been on FHPA? is there any need to know trusts on the family home for direct and indirect contributions?

    Hi everyone,

Probably already answered but how much time should you give to each question inc 5/10 min look over of the paper at the start? I am sitting property physically tomorrow and it has been a while since my last sitting.

    Thanks!

I think like 2 years ago when there was a new examiner he said in the reports that students were deducted if they didn’t speak about one other form of protection other than the act, but Aisling seems to always ask legislative protections

    How did everyone find criminal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32 DarthBhfeidir

I thought it was tough enough. A lot of the same themes kept cropping up, but it was still very broad based

I got 3 good questions in, 75% on the four stage question inc robbing the cash box, syringe offence etc as I didn’t know about coercive control. Did question 1 on complicity, and sorted out the assault, false imprisonment and accessory issues and just started into liability for common design and didn’t get near the duress bit as I ran out of time. How screwed am I?

I found myself so stuck for time also, was really rushing towards the end but yeah a lot of the same issues in the questions

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 102 ✭✭T.Chunter164

Consider yourself lucky, I left that question until last and bulk of answer focused on common design, assault and very briefly on murder, just didn’t have enough time. Also the question on obtaining gains through deception (fraud and theft 2001 act) I feel was a little short. Sure we’ll see how kind the criminal marker is. Feel like I was more confident in the criminal exam than company, but yes a lot of topics interlinked and felt like I repeated myself on assault in two questions (first questions and question with Mick assaulting Lynn).

I still answered 5 questions, and to be honest I’ve you feel you had enough to scrape a pass on all 5, could be fine as I passed equity past sitting with only 4 questions . (I’m sure it depends on how the overall quality of everyone is too)

im on the verge of giving up as property is tomorrow and it’ll be my third consecutive day of exams.

I think if you even mention the acts outwith the FHPA. The Succession Act being the most obvious one but the Co-Habs Act/Marriage Act 2015,

Family Law Act 1995/ Divorce Act 1996 etc if sufficient enough. Like someone else has mentioned - it seems to be very focused on legislative protections.

Hey guys, hope everyone's study is going well. I was wondering whether anyone could send me an up to date EU grid, it would be much appreciated. Also - what topics are people covering?

    Hi guys.

I hope everyone is hanging in there this past few days.

Does anyone has any experience with the Company Marker. I done three very sound questions, one decent and one short I was running out of time on the last one and bulleted it. I know it's difficult when someone hasn't seen a script!

    Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know what the most commonly asked question is on mortgages? Is it on judgement mortgages? This topic is huge and a nightmare to learn

I’m only doing judgement mortgages anyway as it hasn’t been up in a while now! Leaving out the rest… topic is huge! Hoping there’s enough on the paper where I don’t have to do it though if it comes up! Don’t like mortgages in general
