I'd like to see some solid ideas on how you think you can stop someone owning a dog?

you can't predict the future, unless u have a crystal ball, but even if you're correct, we would have a redundant drug squad to pursue them for those nefarious activities. Also, could we not prevent people like them owning a dog?

I'm not against you on the legalise drugs stuff. I just don't think such a family
would be holding down 9 to 5 jobs and going to church on sunday if there was no drug trade. But I have no crystal ball as you say. Just an inkling.

I guess there would be civil rights stuff if you tried to prevent certain people or groups from owning dogs. Even if the law said they couldn't own a dog - well they're not the sort to follow the rules.

I think the Restricted Breeds law didn't become very useful because of issues of proving breed and muts etc.

Gardaí do have tasers and 'bean bag'/plastic bullet weapons. But not every individual cop has them. And if all you have is a pistol with live ammunition and you have a split second before a vicious dog sinks its teeth into you then you haven't much choice.

It's a pity. The owner's at fault. Not that that's any use to the dead dog.

It would probably be easier than enforcing the 'War on Drugs', they say only 10%
of drugs are intercepted, if drug-seizing was an exam, that would be a massive fail/ure.

    It's hardly a catastrophe.

It's 100% because shots were fired. A Garda firearm could be fired at a tree in the middle of the forest and it'd automatically result in a GSOC investigation. This IMO is absolutely how police use of firearms should be handled, there are other countries which could learn a lot of lessons from the seriousness in which Ireland regards the firing of any bullet for any reason by a member of our police.
Maybe if we could get some cheaper bullets we wouldn't need to account for every single one ?

As a side note could someone explain the whole “say his name” crap to me? Is it an attempt to humanise scum?

First they came for the socialists...

They should have shot the dog in all four paws. Some people expect our police to perform trick shots, after all.
