We got this for a tenner last year, there's a 20% off coupon showing up now on it too.

It's usb rechargeable, but also takes batteries (2xaaa) if you're so inclined. Really accurate too.

Two weeks ago ordered a log holder and a day later some screws

    Log holder arrived no problem

Screws no show - arrived in Dublin and stalled. Requested refund got it, thought maybe small package got lost

Reordered screws Friday, got text from an post on Sunday to say they would be delivered next working day

No sign, check Amazon app today and both orders of screws are showing in swords for customs but this isn't showing up on an post tracker

    Totally random

Amazon's reputation for generous and hassle-free customer service has really gone to the dogs since Brexit. I don't know if it's genuinely causing extra obstacles or if they're just using it as an excuse to tighten their belts so Jeff can take more trips to space with his dick measuring tape.

yeah had to pay for return postage the other day before for returns it was 'postage paid' - gettin tough with us now are they?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,463 ✭✭✭SourSessions

Your also got your refund issued as soon as an post scanned it. I've had to follow up all of them lately. General standard of CS reps has also gone down. Freebie credit is almost never given, which in fairness was always a bonus, but it just adds to the list of what seems to be some mega internal policy changes.

I'm not sure if anyone remembers the massage gun from a few weeks back. But the card that came with it did get me a £30 gift card. Just over €34 on the account to spend. I think the Gun itself was only around €28.

there isn't much in the Warehouse sale, but for anyone looking for apple products there's a series 5 watch, ipads, iphone 11's - they don't normally get included.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,057 ✭✭✭ablelocks

there's actually only 1000 items listed in the promo

Can we have some moderation in the NO CHAT thread?

Personally I don't have a problem with flyandrains posts but others do and are taking the thread off course.

In flyandrains defence along with the links to total crap there are a few decent bargains in there and I bought one yesterday.

For anyone that doesn't like it there is always the ignore button.

Edit> I suspect that the issue is made worse by the lack of other posts in that thread meaning there is more critical scrutiny of the few posts that are made.

The folks complaining are not taking the thread off course - flyandrains is by spamming that utter rubbish.

Is there no free returns anymore? Strange move by Amazon. Would make you think twice about buying some things.

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators Posts: 7,007 Mod ✭✭✭✭Sheep Shagger

There is still in some categories like clothing etc but they used to pretty much do free returns for everything and on some cases in clothing returnless refunds meaning you get to keep the item as its not worth then taking it back and processing but even that has reduced.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,067 ✭✭✭✭fryup

maybe they were getting sick of people returning items - wasn't there some scandal revealed recently about amazon destroying millions upon millions of unwanted stock

so maybe getting tough about returns will ease the waste?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 361 ✭✭flintash

no return for Prime users?! thats not good. not that i used it much.

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators Posts: 7,007 Mod ✭✭✭✭Sheep Shagger

Still applies for some categories just not all as it seemed to be. With added customs clearance for Amazon to deal with maybe thats another reason they have cracked down on it.

It's a right pain now, not sure if it'll ever get back to the way it was, but as already stated in this thread by myself and others, the returns I've sent back, I had to chase up refunds on every single one.

    From chat thread

Power washer for £69.99 with £10 discount voucher on page brings it down to £59.99. Add extra VAT and exchange rate and it works out at €73.63 with free delivery for Prime members.

Note that the same pressure washer is also available for exactly the same price with the same discount voucher but without the excessively marked up original price https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08ZCHXFWQ/

Wake me up when it's all over.

I know it tends to be account specific but I had on offer on screen for £6 discount when I buy £60 gift card. The £6 is off a future purchase.

Only now appreciating how good we had it before 30th June with the Vat Rules. Placed an order this week on an item that was 50% off RRP on Amazon and the total charges came to VAT on full RRP + €3.50 An Post fee + €6.50 An Post AddressPal fee. Lesson learned, won't be heading back to Amazon UK anytime soon.

You mean you won't be heading back to AddressPal anytime soon. Amazon is still cheaper than buying locally for the majority of items if those items ship directly here.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 7,445 Mod ✭✭✭✭pleasant Co.

In this instance you haven’t been affected by the new VAT rules.

Had you bought that exact same item, using address pal, before June 30th - the charges would have been exactly the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,251 ✭✭✭✭Seve OB

If an item was reduced ( in this case by 50%) the Vat should be calculated on the reduced price and not the original price

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,067 ✭✭✭✭fryup

yes i'm waiting on a refund for over a week now, whereas before i'd get it almost instantly

how long are you guys waiting?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,365 ✭✭✭✭McMurphy

Waited a month on a few of them, and tbh, imo they'd most likely never have went through only I got on go them via chat.

Sent back a hose yesterday (one of them expanding yokes) which burst after about 6 weeks, cost me €21 to send it back to them. Let's see how long this will take. 🤞

sent a keyboard back, I paid €20 for postage, once they received it I got the refund immediately through chat. They asked for a picture of receipt and to send it to return-postage@amazon.co.uk
