Government shutdown looming.. Joe calls this "Bidenomics"

Selling off the emergency oil reserve thinking they can depend on renewables is having disastrous consequences for one of , if not the worst, administrations in US history.

Worse than the ones that led to civil war? The great depression?

Of course not. You know this.

Seems to have a lot of competition... of course as you dont even try to list these other administrations it is self discrediting hyperbole.

Because you know you cannot defend such a comparison making it an utterly disingenous claim.

"Since the enactment of the US government's current budget and appropriations process in 1976, there have been a total of 22 funding gaps in the federal budget, ten of which have led to federal employees being furloughed. Prior to 1980, funding gaps did not lead to government shutdowns."

Biden addresses the UN General Assembly:

"If we allow Ukraine to be carved up, is the independence of any nation secure?" Biden asked. "I respectfully suggest the answer is no. We have to stand up to this naked aggression today and deter other would-be aggressors tomorrow."

"That's why the United States, together with our allies and partners around the world will continue to stand with the brave people of Ukraine as they defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity and their freedom," he continued, prompting a round of applause from the audience.

Nice to have a President that isn't laughed out of the room at the UNGA.

You have to remember these people were saying Biden was the worst Democrat candidate ever before the 2020 election.

It’s all pure scutter. They’re either exaggerating to get a reaction or they genuinely haven’t a clue about US Presidential election candidates the Democrats have rolled out over the years

RINOs lying through their teeth about reasons they want a shutdown, case and point, Ralph Norman saying 'Joe Biden gave Iran $7 Trillion of taxpayer money'

The journalist had to correct him: It was $6 Billion, and it wasn't taxpayer money at all, but frozen Iranian money, which was unfrozen for a hostage exchange.

    Constantly lying about everything

The media seems dead set on creating this narrative on replacing Biden and Harris. Newsom was having none of it:

They really seem set on simply using the exact same playbook as 2020.

    • Biden is incompetent/has dementia (whilst single handedly running the most complex scam in the history of the world to steal the election and take bribes)
    • Biden will be replaced by Harris
    • Harris will be replace by someone else
    • Biden will resign

Are they capable of generating any new ideas at all??

Have they ever generated ideas? They're like the DUP in that they'd rather rig the system than, y'know, govern.

Only getting around to seeing this now. Holy smoke he looked very weak up there. Hardly able to get the words out.

Amnesty International’s new investigation shows that Israel imposes a system of oppression and domination against Palestinians across all areas under its control: in Israel and the OPT, and against Palestinian refugees, in order to benefit Jewish Israelis. This amounts to apartheid as prohibited in international law.

Has to be regarded as THE worst in history at this stage. So many issues that they have failed on. The border, inflation, crime, the drug crisis, the Afghanistan surrender etc... etc...

I guess people really do see what they want to see.

I just watched it and saw nothing of the sort.

Care to point out a few timestamps during the address where you felt he was "hardly able to get the words out" ??

Stop quoting buzz words and back them up with verifiable data, otherwise you just look like you're parroting lines without any understanding of the issues behind them

Timestamps!!! That would require the poster to actually watch the video rather than just parrot what their favourite nutjob on Twitter said.

    Worse than the civil war?

    The Great Depression?

    Watergate?

Has to be regarded as a post demonstrating a total lack of knowledge of US history.

    Self discrediting nonsense.

Yup. They have to go back to the great depression for an example of when times were worse. Lmao.

I never made any predictions on here but can say with certainty that this guy is out next year as nominee. At the very least he should be impeached for what he done to the oil reserves. Lowest level in 40 years. Now consider the population growth in the last 40years. No wonder government shut down is looming.

    Back to 2020?

More jobs were lost during the Trump administration than any other in history. Approximately 4 million fewer people were employed from January 2017 to September 2020, according to the most recent publicly available data.

Impeached "for what he has done to the oil reserves" ???

You understand what "impeach" means about as much as Trump understands the word "Hoax"

Explain to me exactly how using the Strategic Oil reserve meets the definition of "High Crimes and Misdemeanors" ?

A reserve specifically set up to mitigate supply disruptions and for which Congress authorised its use to fund Federal spending.

While you are at it , explain to us all what you think the Strategic Oil reserve is for?

    Just utter nonsense.

Matt Gaetz is too chickensh!t to file the motion so apparently we get inane stunts like this instead

Per his 15 votes to become speaker he made a rules change so just one member of his caucus could file this motion, down from 5. “File the f&cking motion” he reportedly yelled at a recent closed door meeting of Republicans where Gaetz similarly hung the threat of the motion over the speakers head.

Matt Gaetz has to know vacating the chair now or anytime soon absolutely guarantees Republicans lose next November over a wholly Republican caused government shutdown.

Oh, so was The Great Depression worse? So you have actually heard of it? Have you made up your mind yet whether you are contradicting the post or not?

The Civil War... worse? Do you need to check that one out?

    Watergate?

But you implied it was the worse. So was it the worst or not? If it's the worst, why does it matter which historical comparisons we pick? One is enough to demolish your argument.

I picked the most obvious examples to completely discredit your anti-historical nonsense.

But you discredit it yourself as you can't keep your story straight from one post to the next.

We don't have to go back far to find a worse administration, the omni shambles that was the Trump debacle, that needlessly threw lives away in Afghanistan and Covid.

Matt Gaetz has to know vacating the chair now or anytime soon absolutely guarantees Republicans lose next November over a wholly Republican caused government shutdown.

The question is not "do they know?" it's "do they care?"

Their role is to appeal to the mob and make the Rapist happy..

Getting rid of McCarthy and causing a shutdown achieves both those goals.

Even if as you rightly say , it's burns them with independents next year.

Proof that, even when the right wing isn't attacking Biden for supporting Ukraine, they are otherwise attacking him for not supporting them enough

Not going how they wanted: (Wapo)

In an early sign of how much of the hearing is likely to go, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) jousted with the attorney general over the long-running investigation of Hunter Biden by Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss.

Despite repeated prodding, Merrick Garland refused to talk about his internal discussions about the case with Weiss or others, citing long-standing Justice Department policy, while insisting there has been no interference with the case.

“I’m not going to get into the internal deliberations of the department,” Garland said.

“Oh but you must, sir,” Johnson shot back.

I promised the Senate,” Garland said, “that I would not intrude in his investigation. I do not intend to discuss internal Justice Department deliberations, whether or not I had them.”

    #lawyered. From 2021:

Grassley asked Garland whether he had spoken to Biden about his son’s case, where federal investigators in Delaware have been examining multiple financial issues involving the younger Biden, including whether he violated tax and money laundering laws in business dealings in foreign countries, principally China, two people briefed on the probe told CNN in December.

“I have not,” Garland responded. “The President made abundantly clear in every public statement before and after my nomination that decisions about investigations and prosecutions will be left to the Justice Department. That was the reason that I was willing to take on this job.”

1+ Hour of this and TLDR 1+ hour of Garland reminding Republicans that Weiss was appointed by Trump, and he promised at confirmation he wouldn't interfere with Weiss, and promised to Weiss to rubber stamp any prosecutions he wanted to make outside of DC. 1+ hour of the GOP raging that Weiss 'allowed' the statute of limitations on Hunter's tax crimes, during the years he worked at Burisma, to elapse. 1+ hour of GOP raging 'why does it take so long to charge tax fraud,' 1+ hour of them failing to realize Weiss is their guy, appointed by Trump, confirmed by Republicans, and it is he who determined not to prosecute those alleged tax crimes.

"They know why they did it! Everyone knows why they did it! They might not say it, but everyone knows why they did it!" -- Jim Jordan, fuming, pushing naked conspiracy theories.

It was fun watching Gaetz go on a tear about a weaponized justice system with Garland only for his democrat colleague to get his time and immediately remind Gaetz if the DOJ was 'weaponized' he would have likely been prosecuted, not have his charges dropped for re: sex with a 17 year old for money, etc.

One half of the hearing is hunter biden conspiracies/griping at Weiss, the other half of the hearing is threats from china and iran and fentanyl etc. thanks to the democrat side.

Garland has been pretty calm this entire hearing, but, he absolutely snapped and blew up at a Congressman who had the audacity to accuse him of religious persecution.

"May I answer your question? The idea that someone with my family background would discriminate against any religion is so outrageous! So absurd!"

As he said in today's opening statement, while addressing this congressman 2 hours beforehand:

"My family fled religious persecution in Eastern Europe at the start of the 20th century. My grandmother, who was one of 5 children born in what is now Belarus, made it to the United States. As did two of her siblings. The other two did not. Those two were killed in the Holocaust. And there is little doubt that but for America, the same would have happened for my Grandmother. This country took her in under the protection of our laws. She was able to live without fear of persecution, that protection is what distinguishes this country from so many others - the protection of law, the rule of law, as the foundation of our system of government. Repaying this country for the debt my family owes, for our very lives, has been the focus of my entire professional career. That is why I served in the DOJ under 5 different AGs under both democrat and republican administrations, that is why I spent more than 25 years ensuring the rule of law as a judge, that is why I left a lifetime appointment as a judge and came back to the DOJ 2 years ago. That is why I am here today, I look forward to your questions."

Ken Buck talked the usual waffle on the dais today but he was pretty on damn point when he soapboxed that $MSFT, $GOOG, $AMZN, etc. are monopolies. Monopolies which, he added, 'strengthen China.'

A Visa-Mastercard duopoly was also raised, this article was entered without objection:
