Right on cue, the 'dumb' card when there's nothing else to fall back on.

I'll say it again, the self-proclaimed 'smartest man on the planet' thought she was good enough that he donated to her AG election campaign...twice.

I was a fan of Hillary Clinton. I know I know, but still, I was for her being the first female president of the united states.

Harris is abysmal imo. She's uncharismatic, her performance against Pence in the TV presidential debate was dreadful. She even made Pence look good.

It is stereotypical Leftist commentary to use the argument that criticism of Harris is rooted in misogyny. That is what is pathetic.

I'm no fan of Harris but I certainly wouldn't call her stupid.

Anybody calling her stupid or dumb hasn't a clue imo.

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,341 ✭✭✭✭Faugheen

But then the same people claim that it isn't rooted in misogyny.

There is zero basis for her being dumb or stupid, other than a former Republican House Speaker said it.

And a former House Speaker that's the biggest shït-stirrer you could meet. Anyone taking his opinion seriously would want to have a word with themselves.

I don't get how you can say calling someone dumb is rooted in misogyny. Perhaps they called her dumb because they are right wing and call all Dems dumb.

Did noone on the Left ever call Sarah Palin dumb? Is this skit borne out of misogyny? Internalized misogyny even.

Apart from biden, look at who the right target.

    AOC, Pelosi and Harris.

Every single time it is criticism that they are too emotional, too stupid, too angry, too dumb, or how they look.. it always boils down to "Who do they think they are?"

Never once do people acknowledge in any meaningful way what they have achieved or their right to be where they are.

    It's systemic and consistent.

I can't recall which one of the emoji using, similar numbered poster that commented, when discussing WH press secretaries that "kayleigh mcenany wasn't great, but at least she was good to look at".

I couldn't give two sh1ts if you think the accusation of misogyny hits the target or not. It is what it is.

Not ALL criticism of Harris is based in misogyny. The criticism is see here of her demeanour and intellect definitely is though.

She was too aggressive, now she’s too timid. Either way she was faking it.

She’s completely unqualified to be VP even though she’s more qualified that most VPs.

Highly accomplished attorney general and there's posters actively calling her both too aggressive and dumb. Ask any woman in business or any field that's male dominated and they'll tend to agree that's misogyny. An aggressive man meanwhile gets praised. Eg the posters that have defended Trump for outright abusing people from the podium on a weekly basis or via Twitter. Harris meanwhile being entirely professional.

Imagine mentioning Gingrich when people are discussing the topic of folk disrespecting women.

    Incredible.

I read this about 6 times, wondering what house Harris owned in Poland. Until I realised you meant gaffe, not gaff. That's self ridicule not pedantry by the way.

I have no idea what point you are trying to make here.

The critism of Gabbard has nothing to do with her gender and all because of flip flopping political 'ideals'. Same thing with Jimmy Dore, Dave Rubin or Russell Brand. Its clearly obvious something or someone made all those people suddenly change their philosophy on life..

If Gabbard was Irish she would be absolutely torn apart daily on this forum like certain individuals are such as Mick Wallace.

I saw very little criticism of Melania past 6-8 years. Even when plagiarised Michelle Obamas speech it made news for few hours then forgotten. Speaking of Michelle Obama she got the most negativity of any first lady by a country mile..

Ivanka Trump again very little negativity of her despite being in a role she should not have occupied.

Conway and McEnany got criticism for their constant lies and mis-truths. By the end they weren't even addressing the American people. They were right up there with Comical Ali as far as spokespeople go

Donating to her campaign, so what ?

Business people and even normal people donate to multiple political parties, some of whom they would never vote for.

You never know when you need a favour or influence down the line.

The US is notorious for lobbying and accepting funds from different organisations, you think its unconditional. lol

I think the point is that there are perfectly valid reasons to criticize Harris - accusations of misogyny are just attempts to deflect from valid criticisms.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 22,870 Mod ✭✭✭✭Brian?

No, I haven’t seen any valid criticism really.

Pre election it was about her sleeping her to the top and being an angry woman. Post election it’s about her awkward laughing.

There’s a huge amount to criticise with Harris. Her record as a state AG was particularly bad for me. But then they’d be critical of her for being too tough on crime.

Well, the public verdict is already in.

Throughout all of these viral moments, most of them are about issues that aren't relevant to Jackson (Festivus of Grievances about the Kavanaugh hearing), and the few that are are mainly propped up by Senators pretending to not have lived lives as lawyers, prosecutors, and the like, themselves, acting as though they don't understand sentencing guidelines, or the nature of the internet. One line of criticism regarded her remarks in a sentencing hearing, after the First Step Act had been (proudly) signed into law by Donald Trump, which would have reduced the defendants sentence. Judge Jackson had expressed remorse for the convicted defendant, that they were still bound to the older sentencing guideline, which the Congress had just declared overbearing and draconian.

They're also mad Jackson doesn't stereotype her judicial philosophy with a Federalist Society approved label (Textualist, etc).

Late last Tuesday night and this morning (I haven't caught up with day 3 yet, woke up to day 4, finished day 2 late last night), it's been also about an apparently unsubstantiated rumor that the WH/Dems had more discovery for this hearing than the GOP and were in possession of sealed victim impact statements. This isn't true, as far as the record shows, and the chair refused to entertain unsealing these, iterating nobody he knows has ever seen them, the Senate Judiciary Cmte has never in its history had asked for such documents, and the contents don't relate to Judge Jackson or her credentials, but incredibly sensitive and identifying details about what sometimes were child sexual assaults. The chair and several Senators also remarked unsealing those would cause irreparable harm to victims, who would be shocked and dismayed and potentially open to further abuse if such personally identifiable information became inadvertently disclosed, because it got in the hands of Congress.

    She'll be confirmed.

There was an exchange earlier today between senators Durbin and Blackburn. Blackburn was asking for records of child abuse cases to be brought up, Durbin rebuked her for trying to use sensitive and confidential material for political purposes

    Edit: Here's the clip

Today Biden is at the NATO summit and, unlike his predecessor, he hasn’t shoved any of the other leaders.

No that's not Putin no that's not Xi Jinping that's the president of the United States of America not allowed to be questioned.

Socialism and beyond is around the corner and we are just galloping blindly into it like sheep ushered into a pen.

But hey he doesn't send mean tweets, that's the main thing I guess.

What does socialism have to do with stopping a reporter from ambushing a foreign diplomat and the President, while he's in the middle of speaking to Biden, to badger Biden with questions? See how every other press member knew what the decorum was? I'm not seeing where you jump from this, to socialism.

No other President has ever done anything so socialist:

You see, Tucker et al have told him to be scared of the socialist, left wing, commie loving (actually, strike that one from the record, we like Putin now) with their radical agenda.

Please don't expect any deeper analysis or detailed explanation of buzz word posts.

Unfortunately socialism isn’t only around the corner. Especially with a solidly corporate Democrat in the whitehouse.

What is it about this clip or Joe Biden that makes you think this?

BTW this is the extended exchange Graham has with Jackson yesterday I talked then about.

It's funny, after over 21 minutes of grandstanding and grieving over Janice Rogers Brown, and letting everyone know he's fire and brimstone for pedophiles etc. - he then accused the Jackson of 'filibustering' his allotted time, because he had not managed his time well enough to recruit her into his notion that Kavanaugh's confirmation process was unfwair. Graham filibustered himself, if any care to watch as evidence.
