I would also mention that even when places have different toilets they end up being used by both genders. Either from sinks being out of order so men had to use the women's or too big of a queue for the women's.

Course the big thing is do we want to stop boys in dresses or do we want to stop sexual assaults. Republicans as a party are still happy to have their policy by a man who boasts of sexual assault.

Its only weird if you're forced into being so obtuse and literal in order to defend a point that you're beyond the realms of credible comment

Which seems to be a recurring theme in this thread. Hence the sort of person who would see the case of a girl being raped in a school toilet and frame the issue as "stopping boys from wearing dresses".

Better (or worse) yet, some lad suggesting that kids being raped in bathrooms is essentially cancelled out in the greater scheme things by the great leap forward into a more diverse world

    Deeply weird stuff.

What’s “deeply weird” is your fixation on toilet use.

No one here is ok with a girl being raped. So you can take that strawman and shove it. The problem I have is using that rape as a point scoring exercise to attack socially progressive bathroom assignments.

I’ve see unisex toilets all over Europe in pubs, clubs abs restaurants. I already named 2 in Dublin.

Dyr: You're okay with the whole kid being raped being an issue around who gets to wear dresses I assume, that's not weird to you.

And there you go! Anyone who doesn't dress like a man is therefore a child rapist.

Indeed. I think it's very odd that some people find creating a vacuum for potential sexual deviancy "progressive".

You're the one harping on about toilets, does your counsellor know of this fixation?

Have you ever seen a unisex multi-occupancy facility used exclusively by juveniles without constant adult supervision. Because that's what we are talking about.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,020 ✭✭✭✭duploelabs

Well if you're changing the parameters on where we've seen unisex toilets, then yes, my old school has them

As matter of fact, yes they were. Yet I still have no idea as what parameters defines a unisex toilet has anything to do with Biden

people dressing as the opposite gender to commit sexual assault is a tiny percentage of the sexual assaults committed every day.

The vast majority are committed by men dressed as men. Maybe we should insist all men wear dresses to settle things down?

No? We shouldn’t. What we should do is look at actual causation and not correlate 2 unconnected things.

I'm from Cork... Main place I've seen them feature prominently is France. Since you go into a cubicle it really doesn't make a difference. They even had them in Disneyland Paris when I was there in the early 2000s.

On top of that, plenty of gyms use individual cubicles for changing so there's no actual division by male or female.

It sort of seems that you have far funnier notions since multiple examples have been given to you. Meanwhile I'm also guessing you're the type of person who would tend to object to educating teenagers about consent etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 432 ✭✭bewareofthedog

Great opinion and advocacy here lads it's admirable, but I can't help but wonder what the average Woman thinks about sharing a bathroom with a man.

It's also strange how so many of you grew up with unisex toilets in schools etc, yet I'm in the same country went through the public school system/multiple colleges around the country and have never seen that situation in my lifetime.

Pretty sure most women share a bathroom with men in their own homes.

Enjoyable response, I give more credence to comedy over outright lies.

Question, do you think teens and young adults should be given consent classes? Do you support advocacy against sexual violence including the likes of the me too movement which have exposed large scale amounts of sexual violence? Cause by and large these are doing far more to combat sexual violence over the obsession over toilets.

Great to see that Biden is taking the environment seriously.

He had an 85 car motorcade for his drive through Rome to visit the Pope yesterday.

Most of the vehicles were flown in from the US.

His fleet is comprised of the heavily modified Boeing 747 ,Air Force One, an identical decoy and two huge C-17 Globemaster planes to carry his battalion of guzzling cars and helicopters.

I'd have thought by now the motorcade would be comprised exclusively of electric vehicles and not megalitre fuel guzzlers.

Good for me, but not for thee

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,020 ✭✭✭✭duploelabs

Does a range of electric motorcade vehicles exist that could offer the protection that the office of the president requires?

I'll wait for you to find such models and revert once you put down the pearls

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 17,581 ✭✭✭✭astrofool

I assume you'll be onto the US house and senate to propose funding for that changeover to electric?

Or should the US president stay in the US all the time? (was Kamala Harris saving fuel when not visiting the broken trump fence all those times, or wasting fuel when she did visit it?)

I assume you're also in favour of the carbon tax and the US reducing it's dependency on carbon based fuels? Unless you were being a hypocrite of course.

It's amazing how people talk about them in the US and the whole if Europe and you just mention Ireland.

I remember the littlest pub in Boston, one unisex toilet. Just to add another. Very busy bar but it's closed now.

Some interesting names nominated to government positions by Biden

Khizr Khan (no doubt Fox'll pick this up):  Appointee for Commissioner of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom

Dr. Deborah Lipstadt, expert on the Holocaust and Holocaust Denial (watch the film Denial where she annihilates the odious David Irving): Nominee for Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism with the Rank of Ambassador

    Good choices.

Although I agree that it's a stupid argument to bring up, given that the Presidential motorcade vehicles tend to be bespoke construction, and that the distances they drive tend to be in the tens, not hundreds of miles, I don't see any reason that, should there be a decision to do so, such vehicles cannot be electrically powered. Indeed, I'm actually a little surprised that no major world leader has, to my knowledge, gone that direction yet (Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark using a Model S being the largest exception). One would have thought that the torque and acceleration of the vehicles might be well received by the security services.

It's probably just a factor of the age of the current fleet. The contract for the current Presidential limo was awarded in 2014 and the main US manufacturers were not really up to speed on the electric rails. Even if a new contract were awarded today, I'm not sure any of the current approved manufacturers (The current administration does not like Tesla) would be really up to the task. I wouldn't be surprised if the next version of the limo, presumably to be contracted in the next five or six years, had electric power, however, or at least was a petrol-electric or hybrid system.
