The best description I head of twitter was from a mate of mine. As he said

"Twitter is full of people who struggled to pass foundation level maths but now are on twitter with a following who think they are a financial genius"

    Nail on head.

I do laugh at people who think that any form of healthcare is free. We do provide free health care to some people, its mostly paid for by people who arent entitled to it and have to pay for private health care for themselves

Any other red herrings you'd like to throw out just to distract from the topic at hand? :o

    So you agree with censorship.

Don't get this at all. What does the level of maths you did at school when you were 18 say about someone's ability to have an opinion on the world.

Nobody here suggested it should be free from consequence.

    Now he gets it.

This is a dangerous slope ,

I understand a private company is allowed do what it wants but its very short sighted.

Lets say you have a teenager who gets beaten up by somebody of x race , they post on twitter ‘damn x guy beating me up, I hate x people‘ gets banned for that because twitter doesn't allow ‘racism’ so he looks around for a site where he can talk about it - facebook is out, twitter is out, parlers been banned, boards doesnt allow it etc... so any reasonable site where most people would tell him ‘ahh here that was one lad’ or ‘not all of them are like that’ is gone, now the only places he can vent that opinion are the likes of stormfront, 4chan etc.. where the response is more akin to ‘yeah x people are all like that, x people should be killed’ and you can see where that leads...

These companies arent just banning far right/left hate material , theyre banning an impressionable persons access to balance, removing dissenting opinion on large platforms leads to more division and extremism

Honestly, the likes of parler have effectively become the mainstream storm front and I find it hilarious that you try to pretend otherwise. Basically your argument appears to be that the likes of boards or Twitter should allow people to be racist or homophobic or whatever without restraint. Because otherwise they'll be radicalised. I would say that it's more like giving free reign to radicalization on mainstream platforms. It doesn't stop the process, it just makes it more acceptable.

But it's not just about racists and homophobia, there is a broader spectrum of political thought that gets constantly suppressed and don't pretend otherwise.
How do yo think hiving off political opinions into completely separate echo chambers is going to work out? Where do you reckon dividing the public spaces like the places you shop, the products you buy the banks you use along political affiliations will end?
That's how you start a civil war, and it's as if clowns like Jack Dorsey seem to actively want that.

Twitter is many things: a fantastic source of information, an avenue of instant gratification, an instant news source, a place where people idly share drivel and a battleground for the easily riled and outraged. What you want it to be is up to you. Alas, many users never even get to that first step of reflection. It's both the best and worst of social media.

    The consequences are censorship.
You spread hate, you get shut down.

Same as on here, same as in real life.

The birth of parler was less to do with conservative views and more to do with outright racists, conspiracy theorists(ones who used regularly target the families of mass shooting victims) and such being banned from mainstream platforms. Conservatives simply weren't being banned for being conservatives, the ones who were banned were often given multiple warnings for breaking rules.

Well lets just establish first that you're no longer denying that you were engaging in a bout of "so what you're saying is" before we move onto the false equivalence strawman that followed

Jesus man you want me to write book? Because that's how long it would take to answer that question if you want me to list everything that can get you banned, shadowbanned/delisted or whatever from modern social media and forums. Pretty sure I just got banned for this post because it had the word bootlickers in it (although I'm not sure since I don't read moderator PMs) :D The internet is a joke at this point.

    So nothing.
Do you not think you should take personal responsibility for your comments?

Trump and others were allowed to run free for 4 years, people became radicalised, the outcome was obvious this week.
    Must never happen again.

    So nothing.
Literally anything that upsets the left, challenges mainstream narrative. It's closer to 'everything' than it is 'nothing'. Not that you care because you're practically baiting me to bring up things that could get me in trouble or you can continue to mock. Shove it.

The responsibility is hearing the replies: The exact opposite of what de-platforms and pro-censorship crowd want.

Run free? You mean talk? God forbid.
    Must never happen again.
And who are you trusting to make sure of that? Degenerate foreign social media corporations. Disgusting.

This guy nails it in the video I have linked below.

This a billionaire take over which is being cheered on by bootlicking leftists - leftists who don't want to be banned themselves and crazies who don't know what is going on except they want to dance on everyone they disagree with.

The leftist who always opposed billionaires usurping the rights of the individual who believe in free speech and spoke out against creeping fascistic agendas will be silenced by Dorsey et al along with the conservative right.

Did I misrepresent anything he said? Strawmanning would apply if I wasn't refuting what he said. I very much was refuting his point. He claimed that being banned over racism etc is that it'll drive them to more extreme platforms rather than being talked down on Twitter which realistically doesn't actually happen.

    I asked you for examples.
You couldn’t or won’t give any.

I didn’t ask for your own views.

And I mean storm the Capitol building, kill people and try to stop an election.

    .

Some men photographed in the Capital House were black and they wore Trump gear. The media lying to you about this was just angry White men. All kinds of people, different skin color, different backgrounds were inside the building. That does not fit the narrative the democrats want.

Ah right so you're still denying you were engaging in "so what you're saying is" when its there in black and white. Just want to establish what level of pseudo reality that you're operating on.

You claimed that Parler was the equivalent to stormfront, another trope so standard that it has its own meme:

    147.jpg

The last time I checked Stormfront was an avowedly Neo-Nazi forum run by a Neo-Nazi. Parler is a social media site founded by American conservatives who are affiliated with the Republican party that has a commitment to freee speech.

Now in the pseudoreality that you operate in a commitment to free speech might be equivalent to Nazism but for those of us who are living in your makey up online world theres an obvious difference.

So you agree with Apple, Amazon, Google etc who are their exercising their rights by banning Parler.
