i'm wondering how it will work from addresspal's end. how will they know what vat amount to charge. will they open the package? or will they request the invoice from me? any ideas?

The same as they currently do if buying the the USA. They open and inspect each parcel, if there is an invoice they use its value. If there is none they email you for a copy/proof of value and description.

So where did the amount of €22 come from? Who decided that this was the threshold. What are the chances post Brexit that ANPost / Revenue will be inundated with parcels from Britain, and decide to increase the €22 amount to avoid hiring many more staff?

I used to buy quite a few items from eBay UK but looking at what they are charging for shipping now without the Parcel Motel NI it can work out multiple times dearer than what the actual item is. I wonder can we use a European version of eBay instead?

I hope Parcel Motel can figure another way around this as I'm sure they will lose alot of business without the NI address.

I dunno how anyone company will be able to deal with the millions of parcels coming from ebay and amazon uk into Ireland.

Did the UK say business as normal on their end? Not going to be charging on parcels coming from eu

Does anyone know whats the situation with an item purchased from Amazon in December but not yet delivered due to stock/Christmas/brexit/covid delays. Since the sale took place before Brexit, the UK were still in the EU. Standard VAT was charged by Amazon. No import deposit fee. I presume there will be no import fee?

Date of sale wouldn't mater, its date of entry to Ireland that customs are concerned with, saying that it depends who delivers it, I've heard of packages arriving as normal

Hi I recently bought a second hand item on Ebay the cost including delivery to Addresspal's address in the UK was 37.30 Euro. It arrived at the Addresspal site on 15th Jan and I have yet to receive it. I received a bill from An Post for a VAT payment of 8.30 and a further payment to An Post of 3.50. This makes a total of 10 Euro given to An Post for their services. I have to say that I felt Addresspal was jumping on the Brexit bandwagon at the outset in increasing their fee to 6.50 in the first place and removing the lower fee for Post Office pickup but at this rate almost a total of 30% of my original purchase will be handed over to An Post. I can't see myself using the Addresspal facility too often in the future.
