Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. I got that. It’s a phishing message. Likely the foreman or someone using the account of the foreman had been tricked into giving away some information including yours and mine email addresses

Don’t enter any details or even click the pdf link. Just delete it, sit back, enjoy your Christmas Eve and don’t give it another thought.

    Hi Taz,

Enquired with Siro.. problem is they have to drill through my new house so couldn't go ahead with it.. looks like virgin is the only option unless u want to drill .

  • Registered Users Posts: 37 ChicoCannon

    Hi Royalshiva,

Did they say where they had to drill, was it external walls or just inside, don't fully understand why it would need to be external, was it to install the ONT somewhere specific. Siro works in part with ESB can they not just bring it in through ESB ducting, there should be very limited interference if any at all between electric and fibre cables.

Hi, does anybody know if there’s a skylark or st. Marnocks bay residents association or a neighborhood watch group?

Official Dublin Airport Noise complaint form.

Why would someone who bought a house on the flightpath of an adjacent international airport want to file a noise complaint?

Please tell me no one is dumb enough to buy a house in this location and not realise this😂

    Hi,

Does anybody have a recommendation for somebody who could install an outdoor tap for the garden?

    thanks

Has anyone who bought in Skylark considered a small flat top extension or attic conversion? I believe it had to be cleared by the contractors first but wondered if anyone had any success and if so, whether they gained much space

Did anyone get any update on this? I looked up the info from the message quoted and can’t make heads nor tails of it.

I wonder if we could we get some drone footage of the new phase being built? Looks like they are making a lot of progress!!

just got an email about new phase launching, no prices though, does anyone know the price list and if so would it be possible to post here or PM me? Looked at 3 bed south facing semi d or detached prices. Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 236 ✭✭SimpleDimple

second hand 3 beds in st marnocks bay next door are going for €665k or so, so probably near the €700k mark. It’s very frustrating given those world have gone for €500k I think about 6 years ago brand new.

Adjusted for inflation, 500K 6 years ago is worth 602.28K now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 60 ✭✭reactadabtc

They're on a Daft, but no prices. I hate POA so so much.

  • Registered Users Posts: 236 ✭✭SimpleDimple

That may be the case but as someone currently looking for a house I can confirm that common sense and logic doesn’t come into it. 1970’s houses in older portmarnock are going for upwards of €800k. Drumnigh manor had some 3 beds for sale last year and they were €600k - €675k fyi.

    Hello folks,

I have been thinking of buying a house in Skylark. I talked to someone living close to Portmarnock and he told me there is robbing almost once two weeks. Before I change my mind, I want to ask you guys -especially to someone living there- if it is correct or it is exaggrated? After a little research, I found there are social houses not only in Dun Si but also in progress in Station Road (Ballymore) right now. Would it be a problem in the future in terms of safety? I would appreciate if you share your experience with me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,044 ✭✭✭bilbot79

I don't think social housing has anything to do with it. I think from time to time silly kids come from outside of Portmarnock and 'raid' the nice areas. I would say once every 3-4 months is more accurate and I imagine it's going on everywhere too. Most people here have doorbell cameras and there's been a couple of times where kids check a few car doors and have a rummage. Haven't heard of a house being robbed though.

Anyone here buy in the latest phase? :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1 eskay

I questioned this myself and was told the houses in Drumigh were up for sale at that price because 1/3 of them had pyrite issues!

  • Registered Users Posts: 37 ChicoCannon

I am aware that the someone was caught on camera a while back checking to see if cars were unlocked, not sure if anyone has had anything actually stolen.

I would suspect the people who have been involved are most likely from outside the estate rather than the social housing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 37 ChicoCannon

    I thought i heard starting at 625k

  • Registered Users Posts: 60 ✭✭reactadabtc

You bought 10 minutes away from the airport. Stop complaning! Do you realise the perk of being so close.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,382 ✭✭✭easygoing39

Drone footage of an estate on the the flightpath to a busy international airport??? The godshite's seem to have taken over this new estate!!!!!! Between this and the other one linking the aircraft noise complaint form!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2 rudiger12

How high do you think the drones can go? Should I put my kite away too?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 904 ✭✭✭Tazium

Rules changed in relation to drones near the airport since the original footage was taken. While it's still outside the zone, the opportunities to collect footage without impacting other residents privacy is quite limited. I do plan to have a go when I can, but there's really not enough spread in the new development yet.

Hi Folks. We're thinking of buying in the upcoming phase of Skylark. We've been out a couple of times and listened to the planes and didn't find them too loud but difficult to say how annoying hearing them very often would be, we do currently live beside a main road so aren't strangers to noise. How do people currently living there find the noise inside the house and in the gardens? Is there any other considerations around this to consider before purchasing? Thanks in advance for any help!

I was the same as yourself. Came out to listen to them and decided it was ok.

First couple of weeks surprised me a bit as I didn't think they would feel so present how after that it just disappeared into the background. Indoors if you listen for them you'll notice it but otherwise it's just nothing. In the garden it's obviously loud but again you get used to it. Take off is louder and longer but is only 25-30% of the time. An absolute majority of people aren't bothered at all but some people are what I would call supersensitive to sound and if you're like that it could wreck your head. You're probably not like that because you live beside a main road and are still considering a house under the flight path

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes I really don't think we're super sensitive to noise & reckon we'll get used to it fairly quickly as with the road noise in our current apartment. Good to hear the experience of current residents echoing the same. How are you enjoying living in the area? Everything bar the flight path seems great to us.

Yes everything is perfect here bar the flight path. Great neighborhood, location. Really like it and don't plan on moving on. Looking forward to the park should they ever get round to it. Would love to see O'Dwyers revamped mind you, and a library..

Did anyone get a quote to convert the attic with a stairs and velux window? Just looking over figures now and I'm wondering if I could factor in the cost. A ballpark cost would be much appreciated and maybe say if the quote includes an ensuite or just a single room.

    Thanks in advance.

I think it's between 20-40k depending on finish

Thanks bilbot79. It would add a lot of space so hopefully I can budget for it.

O'Dywer's will never be revamped,in fact when Mrs. O'Dywer passes away the pub will be sold.I'll bet a cent to a Euro that a builder will buy it,knock down the pub and build apartments on the site.Enjoy O'Dywer's while you can!!!

Hey everyone, we’re heading to an open viewing next weekend for the next launch of properties in skylark. Never been to one of these before so we’re just wondering how these sort of things work? Is it a case that we go on the day and have a couple of days to think about it and get back to the agent or is it incredibly competitive as in we would need to be paying booking deposit there and then on the day and confirming the exact property type we want etc? Any specific documents we need to have on the day? Any advice at all is appreciated, thanks in advance!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,039 ✭✭✭Pipmae

Can anyone tell me if you're allowed pay for extras agreed with the builders eg extra plug sockets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,551 ✭✭✭chinguetti

No idea how it will work now but when we bought here 5 years ago, we had to queue up the night before, we got a ticket that evening and didn't see the showhouse (apartment) until the following day. We then picked what number we wanted and had to go give them all our details and had a certain time to transfer the deposit or lose the property. Good luck.

Highly unlikely, I don't think you have any chance of the builders making any personal changes for you sadly. They refused to do that for anyone when we all moved in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,039 ✭✭✭Pipmae

Thanks - I'd probably end up spending mad money on extras so might be a blessing in disguise.😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,039 ✭✭✭Pipmae

Did anyone go today? I didn't book one but I'm interested in the next phase. Lovely houses - I love the higher ceilings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,551 ✭✭✭chinguetti

Apparently most of what was available were gone yesterday and there's a cancellation list in place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,044 ✭✭✭bilbot79

That's certainly plausible but I reckon Portmarnock is crying out for O'Dwyers to be turned into a Yacht/Cumiskeys spot

    Hi all!
Yesterday I found the article “Lone Star is close to agreeing to selling most of its Irish residential property development business, Quintain Ireland, to fellow Texas-based private-equity firm TPG.”

I find it a bit worrying as I already paid the deposit and now we are working on the contract with solicitors but after reading this news I suppose that these changes could probably affect the current phase (especially the deadlines of the release) or even the whole project Skylark itself.

What do you think about this change? Could it be something serious or we shouldn’t be worrying ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11 chicharito12

Hi there, we have also put a deposit down & currently currently working on signing contracts! I know very little about this but hopefully it won't have an impact. We can actually see our house (it's one of the ones beside the showhouses) and the house already looks well on its way with the whole structure & windows there…

  • Registered Users Posts: 10 veronikanick

Ohh, that’s good, I remember these houses, it really gives hope and it’s easier to track the progress :)

Unfortunately, we cannot see if the construction works have been started on our street (Skylark Place) because it’s too far from the show house :(

There were another open view today. I was surprised since it was mentioned here that there were another one on the 22nd of June and everything was taken. Is any of you thinking on buying there?. I'm seriously thinking on it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10 veronikanick

    Hi!
As far as I see, last two weeks (it was a viewing previous Saturday as well) they have been trying to sell the last 4 houses (as on the screenshot). First weekends after the announcement of the new phase everything was reserved but not sold, and then during a first week people were refusing to buy (maybe they changed their mind) or they didn’t put the deposit on time and etc that’s how they still have some available units.
