The Next Mass Effect

So I've just restarted a new playthrough of the Mass Effect series and I'm wondering if the older games will tie in with the newer game as in, will your choices from previous games be factored into the new game. It's a tricky thing if you ask me as the developers are going to have to take into account the choices players made in the previous games, like what if you chose the destroy the Geth, or you didn't cure the Genophage. Thing is, I'm currently playing on a PS4 but am going to upgrade to a PS5 soon so I am wondering if there is going to be an issue with the change in ports. I'd hate to have to start all over again the PS5 just after finishing on the PS4.

I partly think that maybe they'll just ask you questions at the start of the new Mass Effect game about what choices you made in previous games and the answers will dictate what paths you can take in the game without the need of transferring saved game files. It would be unfair to the people who didn't play the previous games I think.

They'd have to retcon choices and there'd be no agreement on which were the best choices. Leave my Geth alone!

I'm guessing we will get something else during the Game Awards. Cool armor though

I saw one person complaining that you don't need to wear a coat in space 😂

Mike Gamble said there are details on the clip that give more than you might think. Hhhhmmm and now we wait for some youtuber to do all the analysis.

More important than any announcement: laid off testers using ‘N7 Day’ to picket BioWare offices over the way they were treated. EA/BioWare unsuccessfully tried to block the picket, but thankfully the laid off workers prevailed.

Almost 3 years between that snow covered mountain trailer and this.

Reminds me I need to finish off mass effect 2. Too many distractions, too little time.

The new dragon age looked to be further along but there wasn't ever much of that shown either.

So Dragon age announced 2018 and maybe released in 2024, so they're saying that means 6 years.

But for it to be 2029 then you've to take it as "announced" this year in 2023, which it's hard to say it is.

The first stuff from Dragon age was just images and some ken burns motion comic stuff, while ME got the snowy mountain Normandy trailer in 2020.

So hard to put start dates on things as at the very beginning it's a few people throwing ideas around and reviewing calendars and financials. What can we make, when can we make it, and can we afford it.

Anthem ( I googled it's name and had to reopen tab to double check by the time I got to this line) released in 2019, they were fixing it but they gave up pretty quick on that 2.0 version. Then December 2020 we get the trailer for ME.

Going by that it's mid late 2026, earlier if they can move some people to assist after dreadwolf.

Doubt they'll want to wait too long after dreadwolf with the chance that it doesn't perform well.

What was the time difference between the Mass Effect Andromeda trailer being released, and then the actual games release? No way they would give us this trailer and then make us wait 6 years to be released.

The first trailer was at E3 (June) 2015, more trailers came out in 2016, and it released in March 2017. That game was not well received, and had (not sure if it still has) lots of issues.

I think the longest wait between initial announcement and release for any game might be Cyberpunk 2077, where the first reveal was in January 2013, and the game released nearly 8 years later in December 2020.

I think Duke Nukem Forever currently holds the title for longest time between announcement and release at 14 years (games gone into Alpha/Beta don't count, sorry Star Citizen). But, if Beyond Good and Evil 2 ever gets a release, it'll beat Duke as its currently at 15 years since announcement.
