I'm considering some gear from VictoryChimp, jersey, bibs and bobbler

Has anyone bought from them? Designed up north and made in Italy, good combo

    https://www.victorychimp.cc/

I'll be honest, I love pretty much everything on their site :D

Have mostly club gear so was thinking of something fancier, any other suggestions?

They have some very nice jerseys (some retro, some funky) and they use Banana Positioning Technology™ which insures optimally stationed wonder fruit on all rides (made me smile).

I've a few bits. Very good quality. And the design is top notch. Big Fan.

Yup, their design is class. Have been window shopping for their stuff myself.

That looks like lovely gear. Reminds me of Wyndy Milla a bit - cool patterns and designs. A break from the Alé and Maap boring-ass single-colour jerseys for 795 euro or whatever they're charging now.:pac:

What's the quality like and indeed the sizing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,690 ✭✭✭Whyner

Sizing is race fitting, so toight

Club gear is Sportful so I'm going to order the same

    Sizing
Please check your measurements against our sizing chart carefully before purchasing to avoid disappointment. exchanges are no problem, but stock availability may be limited.

**All jerseys and gilets are close/race fitting with less forgiving fabrics. So if in doubt, on the upper end of a size’s range, or prefer a more relaxed fit, we recommend going up one size. Most will need to go up one size from usual jersey size!**

I ordered the Chimpeaur zip top awhile ago and its a real head turner (for those whose heads get turned by that kinda thing). Ordered the Stampen jersey and Bib Shorts for my bro in Oz who has just got them. The sizing is definitely race fit. He looks great in it with his build but I wouldnt have the confidence. Go one size up for normal bods I reckon. He says it's good kit alright.

Love the Stampen Stripes long sleeve jersey. I'm confident enough in my stupendous winter phyisique :D

Does "sold out" mean gone forever, or is it a temporary re-stocking issue?

folks, victorychimp won't be allowed post till he clears it with the higher ups so please don't direct questions his way

The question we all want asked. There's 10% off you first order

Just to add, after I bought my first item I was sent a 20% discount off second order which came in handy. They do a class 'Bikefast' bottle that looks like a bottle of Buckfast.. well maybe not class, more like gas.

Have some of their caps and a pair of their new sunglasses, can't fault them, great quality and quick delivery. Very helpful too when I was asking questions about the gear. Their new jerseys look really well.

I'd like to know what sort of fancy software they're using that picked up this thread after only a few hours of it being live :pac:

I got the Chimpeur zip-up top and the three long-sleeved tees: things you can wear off the bike as well as on. They're very good, very happy with them. The Chimpeur zip-up top is much praised by people who see it. It's nicely retro.

Sounds good, wonder how much you need to spend on your first order?

He's not happy he got "banned" accordng to twitter :pac:

Come on Ryan, fill in the forms and join us. We've got orders to place

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 686 ✭✭✭ILIKEFOOD

I subscribed and got 10% off first order, then I bought the Chimpeur zippy top for €49.95 (€44.96 with the discount). Then a thank you email came with the 20% off. Free shipping to Oz too as the second order was over €100.

Yeha like, just fill in the forms lol.

His twitter post does not exactly inspire me towards the purchase, tbh.

Yerra. I'd be inclined to weight what looks to be a classy, colourful and quality looking catalogue of gear over a wayward tweet when casting judgement.

Ah if you read through the thread on twitter he mellowed and seems ok about it, just a bit puzzled when he complied with the mod instruction not to post further until the 'paperwork' was done and was banned anyway before he could get it done.

Anyway not looking for stuff at the minute but a site that was new to me and one I'll consider next I'm looking.

Starbucks coffee is probably great, yet I don't go there. I don't say I won't buy from Victorychimp, but its just less likely; his products still look as good as yesterday! ;)

Its not, its actually pretty bad, in fact, awful is the word I would use to describe it but people flock there in there millions

Probably (definitely!) a conversation for another thread, but I don't mind Starbucks. I try to avoid it because I don't want to contribute to the demise of the local coffee shop concept. But there's far worse - Insomnia/ Costa being prime examples. A lot of hipster type coffee shops also serve awfully bitter crap too. Give me vanilla/ bland over bitter/ pretentious any day of the week. How coffee got to be so up its own arse is beyond me - the Italians have been enjoying simple, consistently beautiful coffee without fuss forever.

I've been looking for cycling kit options so Victory Chimp is a great addition to my browsing catalogue. Nice variety to their range. Thanks for the heads up OP!

The last time I've had good espresso in Ireland was Bald Barista some years ago. Since then I've been served some bitter syrup or coffee flavoured water (in seemingly hip places) so stopped going to cafes. What's good in town?

Doppio Zero Pembroke St (off Baggot Street/ Fitzwilliam Sq). Think they have a place on Abbey St/ Jervis St too.

Complete thread derail but the cycle cafe in Ballymore Eustace does a delicious espresso and a crackin ham cheese toasty, and you'll get both for well under a fiver!! :)

It's a long shot but there coups easily be someone who bought a jersey but wouldn't buy a 2nd and therefore not use the discount...so what's wrong with asking?
Anyway I got a 10% discount from their site.

Well wear. Def worth the ask for sure. It's not cheap. But class jersey. Tempted myself but got a track top from there at Christmas and sizing was way off. Had to post it back and pay for postage for next size up which was also way off on sizing. Then had to pay again to post that one back. Ended up paying over 25 euro in postage and ended up with nothing and was not very impressed with yer man's attitude on email exchange either. I'd be very slow to buy from him again but I have to say I do like l love the look of a lot of the stuff on the site

Hmm, that's not encouraging. How was the quality of the gear in-hand?

Your user name made me laugh. Based on your user name I'd say avoid the L and XL sizes!

I already have 1 short sleeve jersey but am going to get another, claiming that the original one I bought was cheap (Planet X) and sure I'll need a few for the summer when I ride more and sweat a lot.

Not as flash as VC but I really like this one by Donda (never heard of them before either). Annoyed that post is £14.50 but and think I prefer the VC Stampen mark II. They also have some new ones, released today and am taken by this one as well. Don't think my other half would take to kindly to 3 new short sleeve jerseys appearing....

Be careful of buying from Donda and additional import charges. I dont see any mention of handling the different VAT rates though they ship to europe

It was top quality in fairness. By that I mean that if you picked up the top without trying it on you'd say it was a quality garment. But a totally wrong fit. First was size small iirc based on sizing chart. Didn't fit across the shoulders. Medium was better across the shoulders, not perfect, a little tight, but the sleeves were far too short. Didn't reach the wrist like...... Bizarre
He reckoned that he'd sold over 1000 of them at that stage and never had as much as a single complaint re sizing. Sure...........

I actually went and looked into it, he was suspended as he claimed to be a rep from a company with no proof. It's a protective measure for posters. He would have got a PM asking him to email hello@boards.ie to verify who he is, ergo there isn't someone impersonating him and ruining the business or landing boards in trouble when the real person shows up and says "WTF is going on here, why are you letting this person unknown claim to be me".
Literally could have been solved in a minute by him if he emailed but he just left when the posts were deleted.

I bought lots of stuff off him, arrived prompty, even coffee beans which went into the hopper 30 minutes ago.

My club gear is Sportful and I take M in tops and L in shorts. Went with that and it worked for the long sleeve jersey and shorts but the short sleeve jersey has a very tight gripper on the sleeve which was uncomfortable. I'm sending it back this afternoon and getting the large.

Packaged nicely with chamois butt'r and the shorts and long sleeve were very comfy on a 2 hr spin last week. Socks, gilet and bobbler all perfect

The missus got me some gear at Xmas so had 20% off everything. I'll report back on the L sizing

I got another long-sleeved t-shirt off them recently, as well as a wallet made out of recycled innner tubes and a mustard-coloured coffee cup.

I've no complaints about their stuff at all.
