Log book is only needed if there is a problem with the Vin number or the customer doesn't have a clue what they're driving/why they are there/what their own name is.

I have never seen anyone fail or have their cert held if they didn't have it... I know it is automatically asked for in centers that have admin staff. But the only paperwork being asked for at the minute is ID(due to covid)

That first line you've written is very insulting, as I said earlier Enniscorthy NCT centre always ask for both the VLC and your licence. If you don't have them they keep the cert and you can call back later with them and collect your cert, it is not recorded as a fail.

Ah, but he personally has never seen anybody refused a Cert on the day because they didn't provide a VLC.

So it must be true that it's not needed. Ever. In any NCT centre.

Always asked for it at arklow.

Not admin staff. It's actual testers that ask for it. There was no front of house admin staff last two times there

Enniscorthy is the same, the tester asks for the VLC and id.

Never asked for in either Cork centres, Blarney or Little Island. Just your licence to get the cert.

I was not asked for it and have presented 4 cars in the past 12 months for NCT

I was asked at the weekend in Galway. There were times in the past where they may or may not ask.

    Fairness it catches issues.

When nct first came in I brought in my MIL’s jap import micra. They found there was a mistake with the vin, one digit out. I had to get it sorted before cert was released.

Well guys, my motor flew through the test and I wasn't asked to produce the VLC ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ I'll just apply to have one sent out to me! By the way, I had the test in Deansgrange.

    Thanks to all!
