Id get on to Ooni as their customer service is normally pretty good and they might replace it for free. Send them a photo of it and explain you didnt drop it or anything, it was the heat of the oven cracked it, etc and they might replace. They should be lasting at least 3 years imo

FYI contacted Ooni support last night outlining the problem and got an email today saying they'd replace it FOC but it might take a while as they are currently out of stock. No request for photos or questions as to how it cracked etc.

    Fair play, impressed.

Good that you got sorted even if it might take a few weeks. yeah their CS is really good, Ive seen users on the Ooni subreddit say their stone has broken and an Ooni rep has come along and replaced it for them

Hi lads, got an Ooni Karu 12 a couple of weeks ago as well as the gas burner. I bought a propane gas bottle, the 11kg camping size one. I can't see a way of connecting the bottle to the burner. The connections don't match. Do I need to buy an adapter of some kind or am I doing something wrong?

Finally got a stand for the ooni, wished I got one sooner, the large gas cylinder fits and there is loads of space for little bits and bobs

Got it in IKEA, it's called BROR trolly, cost 129.

I have something similar from IKEA. To prevent the Ooni sliding off when moving the trolley I got three of those plastic cups you put under sofa legs and gorilla glued them in place under the Ooni legs.

I got the same kit about 6 weeks ago and the regulator came with the gas attachment. What I got was a clip on regulator for propane patio gas. do you have a picture of your regulator?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,776 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

When you were buying it on the Ooni site do you remember selecting an option for gas, it would have said 'Ireland 37 bar'.

11kg propane sounds like you have the right bottle, is it Calor and grey in colour?

If Ooni did happen to send you out the wrong gas connector they will replace it if you email them. If you throw up a photo of it of from the connection side on the bottom then we should be able to tell you if its the right or wrong one

There are three different types of propane gas cyclinders available these days - one for a screw-on regulator; one for the red push-on regulator (this is the one you need) and a third one that I'm not sure of. The cylinder connection should look like this:

Flogas Patio Gas Bottle 11kg Refill - BBQ Gas London (UK)

So the FOC replacement Koda 16 stone arrived today, top marks for Ooni Customer Service in fairness.

They did ask me to send them a photo of the broken stone and comfirm the serial number of the Koda 16 etc but that wasn't a hassle.

I know I didn't abuse the broken stone in any way and as I'm the only one using it I'm a bit concerned there might be a design flaw in the way a small number of "studs" provide support (or not as the case may be) to the stone when you insert it but hopefully the one that broke just had some defect that the new one won't have.

I suspect using the big heavy hot grizzler on the stone (it really is heavy) probably puts the stone under a lot of strain and caused the crack, only time will tell.

yeah Ooni CS is top class in fairness, I couldnt beleive they sent me an 80 euro voucher for my oven being late over Xmas Was great to get it to spend on some accessories which are pricey enough on their site.

Like yourself I'll be taking extra care to gently place the cast iron pan on a hot stone, if anything is going to crack the stone that would be it.

Hi Folks. Have had my Karu 12 Multi-Fuel for about a year now. Have been using wood and charcoal up until now, but am finally biting the bullet and going to buy the Gas Burner.

Do I also need to buy one of these do you know?

lastly is this the gas cyclinder I need or would anyone recommend an alternative:

I have the Koda 12 (gas only) and the gas you quoted is what i use

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,745 ✭✭✭bigron2109

I’ve the Karu with the Gas and I use the gas you have posted above too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,320 ✭✭✭padair

I got the propane bottle , the red ones

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,776 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

As others said that is the correct gas, it should be around 70 euro full up. That includes the deposit on the cylinder and then when its empty you bring it back for a refill which is around 37 euro the last time I did it (probably gone up now since the war)

You dont need to buy a separate hose and regulator, it comes bundled with the gas attachment, see 'Whats in the box' on their website. The hose and regulator for sale on their site is just there as a spare part.

Considering going to get the gas burner for my Karu.

Thinking of another peel to get over the €99 for free delivery too, but trying to decide between getting the bamboo one or spending the extra for the perforated metal one. I have a metal Weber one which is handy for storage as the handle folds. Don't normally have issues with sticking. Thinking it would be handy though to save that for just turning the pizza and taking it out and the save the new one for launching and building on. Would speed up things too if I could get a volunteer to keep an eye on turning while I go make the next one!

Anyone have both the bamboo and perforated peels for comparison?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,776 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

The bamboo is just a launching peel, it is too thick to slide under the pizza when it's in the oven. Like it could be done but it's not it's intended use. I just have the bamboo for launching and a plain metal on for turning and taking out of the oven. I can recommend the bamboo one in that it's used as dough doesn't stick to wood as easily as it does to metal. So as a launching peel it ticks all the boxes but once launched you need to revert to a metal peel regardless.

I am tempted by the perforated peel but recall an owner of one said if you make the pizza and toppings on the perforated peel the weight can go through the holes and make a mess upon launching. So if going perforated you would have to sauce and top the pizza on the counter and then do that trick where you lift up one edge of the pizza up and slide the peel underneath it very fast. It doesn't look to be an exceptionally difficult skill to master but just something to keep in mind before buying in case it's harder than it looks when done by a pro on YouTube videos

I bought a generic metal peel with no holes on Amazon and the turning peel from Ooni. We make the pizza on the counter then do the lift edge technique your referring too. Only had a problem one time at the start when we had way to much toppings. Other than that it's quite easy.

Yeah, same here. The "trick" is to not be afraid to really slide the peel under the made up pizza on the counter. If you slide the peel too hard (which is actually almost impossible to do) the pizza pushes too far up the peel towards the handle but is easily corrected by pulling the top back and stretching the pizza as normal before launching into the oven. If however you don't use enough force when sliding the peel under the pizza you'll end up with half the pizza on the peel and half still on the counter and that can be a bit of a mess. That's how I learned to make sure to use plenty of force when sliding the peel under the uncooked pizza!!
