I know the obvious one will be TP but damn ya'll need to get a bidet it is like 20 quid. I personally just ate myself through the pasta I bought in March...

    Personally I would hoard flour.

Old El Paso kits (Enchilada, Burrito & Taco),

Lettuce, cheese & cows/chicken could be sourced from source on an ad hoc basis...

(Don’t know if I’d have the stomach to cut 500 grams of meat out of a cow though!! I could probably handle a chicken though...)

    Anchovies

    20 tins

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,807 ✭✭✭ShatterAlan

    Knorr packet soups.

Farmhouse Vegetable and Scotch Broth. Love that gear so I'd buy boxes of the stuff.

    Also

    Sardines
    Anchovies
    Tinned Salmon
    Pasta and pasta sauce.
Probably rashers and sausages for freezing.

Not much point in hoarding perishables and as for booze......not much point. I'd have gone through what I could transport in a week or two so better to invest in a home brew kit.

    Guns.
No matter what kind of peacenik homesteading vegetarian idealist you are if the sh1t really ever hits the fan and the shops are properly closing what you need is a well stocked arsenal. I have worked through this scenario a fair few times in my head and if there is only one thing you can stock up on the answer is always guns.

If the supermarkets ever start saying they are going to close, the best thing you could horde is some common sense and stay the f**k away from them.

I asked in my local LIDL. They were due to come in last week as a middle aisle special but NPHET nixed that.

Ah ok, thanks, toilet paper so presumably (like everyone is meant to understand these made uppy acronyms).
Obvious one to idiots though maybe. There are more important things you would want to be getting from your supermarket if one of these dooms day scenario was to actually unfold and you could only take one thing.

The question did not say the item has to be from the supermarket :) If it's TEOTWAWKI time I want guns and a big sword like Michonne.

    Sneaky.
But if only one item then one problem is that guns need bullets.
A sword is mightier than the toilet roll therefore.

Probably the canned food as that would survive

Tin foil. Will be handy for making new outfits in the mad max style post apocalytic world.

Pasta and tinned goods, beans, tuna etc.
Flour is another one but doesn’t have a huge shelf life (even though I suspect it’ll be fine for years after said BBE)
I welcome a post apocalyptic world provided the current “leaders” (all of um) are obliterated
