Your stand might be consistent but that's mostly because it's not based on informed knowledge, it's based on opinion.

And yes, of course you don't put a speed van on a junction or a bend, it's dangerous. That shouldn't need to be explained to you, it should be obvious. To don't make things safer by adding an additional danger.

I passed 2 speed vans in the last few days. One was on a bend, on a downhill section where you naturally speed up. The limit is 100km but the road design is 120km with motorway junctions and just ahead the limit changes to 120km. Its one of the new spots and the parking space is hidden behind a large roadsigns on the N11. They used to have signs warning you are entering a zone, but at the last change they said they no longer do this. All cars braked even though no one was soeeding. Again today 100km limit, road built for 120km at end of a long hill, everyone braked, no one was speeding.

I do know they catch the odd madman and give the average motorist a slap on the wrist the odd time, but the speed limits are incorrect in many places, and the chances of getting caught seriously are quite low. I would prefer average cameras on main roads, and a review of 100km/h dual carriageways with no junctions. On the m50 in rush hour in the wet when no one can speed they are more trouble than good.

I remember the good old days when cars would pass you at the top speed they could manage. Now that was crazy.
