Most of BF's had some glitches or bugs which were possible to fix byt patch. This is bad from pure design standpoint. Lack of scoreboard, specialist only, maps with poor layout, and many others. This is something which isnt fixable with patch. Its like they had a few ideas just randomly mashed together.

Simple example, Portal. Easily it could be a standalone game for 30$, just to get people close to franchise and make them buy new Bf, but now as its part of 2042, it will probably die slow death without proper support.

Its really make me mad see another franchise being slowly killed by all-knowing CEO's.

OK, so my previous post on this was very negative based on the servers being completely useless on day 1 and 2 of the early access.its a lot more stable now and it's really really fun. Been playing conquest on the full game

I've not even tried hazard zone yet cause none of my friends have picked it up outside of me and one other person (who's not finished downloading it yet)

One group of BF friends have said they wont touch it until at least 6 months in when its more stable. And the other have outright said they're not playing it because of the specialists.

Im really enjoying it. Feels like old school Battlefield. Going to buy the full game after the 10 hour trial on EA. Havent enjoyed BF game in years - BF1 and BFV were crap compare to this - hopefully it`ll be a bit competitive clan wise - maybe TiG will get onboard.

Had a LOT of issues with connectivity and stability last night. De-sync, packet loss, bullet lag, general lag etc. Was difficult to get through games when some players are walking around invincible for a few moments before finally the server catches up.

Was having a cracking to and fro rush game on Valparaiso before the server finally disconnected and I gave up for the rest of the night.

Game was a bit laggy around 10pm last night for me, really starting to hate those hovercrafts tho.

Nearly have the LCMG fully mastered, will go for the Ak after that.

A few community portals starting to pop up but due to XP farming on Friday you dont get mastery points for kills in portal anymore. You get XP but meh want weapon points rather than player level.

It has its flaws absolutely without doubt. Air combat is an absolute joke..the jets might as well be taken out since they're basically useless and have no major impact on battles... its impossible to make out the helis long distance and by the time you're close enough to fire cannon you're already flying past them.

But then again people have always hated jet whores and DICE have accommodated those whiners.

Squads should absolutely be expanded to 5-6 people. There is practically zero teamplay going on in any match and no matter who i squad with in multiple matches half the squad are at the other side of the map.

Shooting guns at choppers... I have no idea if guns can damage then since I don't get a visual indicator of hit damage so now I don't bother.

No in squad voip. i know there's discord etc but DICE not provided voip is unforgiveable.

Maps just feel really bland and generic. And it just looks cartoony as hell ffs.

It's 3 days past early launch and it will most likely be patched at some point this week or weekend. I have no complaints about buying the game and had a great weekend playing it.

Apparently VOIP is coming asap. I reckon we're looking at a patch of 3-gb minimum this friday to address a lot of the issues.

The thing is we know EA/DICE are going the microtransaction route with the specialists and I've no doubt that there will be meta specialist released down the line for people to buy who will be so overpowered but I think going this way will ensure that we get regular patches etc. At least i hope so.

Voice chat is coming "ASAP," according to EA, but for launch, DICE is working on the assumption that coordinated squads will communicate in Discord or other standalone chat applications.

You get a little square when you hit the chopper, use the explosive rounds in the LMG, you wont kill it out right but 1 mag can get it smoking.

I dont mind the bugs, which still for a company which is doing the same fps stuff all the time You would think it would be easier to spot them and fix them.

Im talking about overall base game was/is designed. Like I said previously, when the game works, its a great BF experience but there are still problems which cant be fixed with simple day one patch.

Starting from beggining, UI. It looks like it was put there just in a last second on top of code by some intern. Cant imagine that someone approved that on any of design team meetings. Lack of "flow", menus making no sense like the customization one, icons, UI elements looking like they were made in paint. Its a proper example how not to design UI elements and it comes from a massive AAA company.

Maps. Many previous games gave us good, bad and horrible maps. This one just goes from bad to horrible. Lets look on Hourglass for example. On breakthrough two last points make no sense, if enemy takes over roofs, its almost imposible to take them over without using hover glitch, great way to make it so fun. Even the previous ones, when You have to be a sitting duck in the middle of open space praying that some people will use deployable covers besides You.

To many things to mention. Game shows potential, but it doesnt play like it was by AAA but some random college students on GameJam session.

I haven't used my Xbox One since Battlefield 1 which I loved. Thinking about giving 2042 a go. Conscious that my Xbox One is getting on and I'm wondering are there any reasons that I should be considering upgrading to an xbox series console to play this game?

there isn't a chance in hell the old consoles will run this above 10fps.

If you're getting any console then get the Series X and not the S as its far more powerful and better suited to BF2042. Keep an eye on argos for stock.

I would definitely avoid the Xbox One version at this stage, it's 64p only and the framerate is gonna be suspect, visuals not great either.

A Series S will run it pretty well. I think the S runs at 1080-1440P range at 60fps and the series X runs at 4K 60fps. So there's a difference, but the Series S still runs the "real" version of the game at fairly clean visual levels and good framerate.

People get more worked up over resolution than needs be, resolution isn't a huge deal and there's a lot more to how a game looks and runs than just resolution, hence why the One S version is miles better than the Xbox One X version (which runs at 4K).

The S is easy to get and a lot cheaper, and it still runs games very well. It's ideal for someone who just plays the odd game but wants to get in on next-gen. Games at 1080P still look totally fine really.

I play on a 240hz monitor usually but sometimes connect my PC to the TV which is 4K, and running at ultra settings 1080P games still look great. I wouldn't be hugely worried about a Series S impacting on your enjoyment of anything. The bigger issue for me personally with it is that there's no disc drive so no 2nd hand games, or borrowing from friends, buying a game and trading it back in, etc.

The Series S is €300 and you can get it with a free month of GamePass, which would allow you to play 10 hours of BF2042 for free before you buy.

Was playing conquest the other night with 3 mates, working together with different specialists etc was great craic.

Working between two flags on a part of the map, taking out tanks when they came through was class.

Played BC2 Rush yesterday and jesus I couldn't hit any of my shots, the bullets were going everywhere BUT where I was aiming.

I think its limited to 64 player maps and they're much smaller as well for both of the last gen consoles.

Apparently it runs pretty decently on the series S..must try it on my kids one and see how it goes.

Unlocked the PP-29 last night, it's hands down the best gun in the game. Seems to be untouched by the weapon bloom issues plaguing others at the moment.

Yep - same here. Actually feels like I can shoot straight, as I said here before I was really struggling to get kills with the AR's, was getting 35+ kills with the PP last night. Nothing amazing, but a step up from the previous games!!

Easy way of ranking up if anyone isn't rank 18 yet (PP-29 unlock rank) just choose casper and play breakthrough, spot as many enemies as you can and just do it for the whole game. 5 XP for a spot + 50 XP for an assist (same as a kill). Done this for two games where I got 100+ assists in each, just to get to rank 18 so I could use a gun that's half decent.

Yeah the thing is a laser beam, a lot of the "day 1" players on Friday are going to be rage quitting with the amount of people running it :D

Even easier way of ranking up if you are interested - switch to Solo/Co-Op and keep going in and out of conquest until it loads Manifest. Spawn in a tank and just continually loop the C1/C2 & B1 objectives (enemy will take then you come back and recapture). Do nothing but that for the full match and you will have about 22k XP at the end of it, can jump entire ranks early on.

Ah didn't realise they had xp switched on for Solo/Bots. The handiest part about that mode is it's great for practicing flying. I used to do a lot of flying with the Logitech joystick I had but it doesn't seem to work with 2042 yet.. I can't fly with mouse / kb - so trying to learn with xbox controller!

Think the dates teased for upcoming patches on twitter are 19th Nov(launch bugs) , 30th Nov (qol) and 7th dec (content).

It's strange - I'm still addicted as it's great to have Battlefield back in my life again, despite switching to COD after BFV, I've missed the Battlefield gameplay loop... I do think the maps are a bit sanitised / barren, the guns are frustrating (although I like the second DMR) and it still needs a bit of love..(and christ I do hate the light hearted quips at the end of round - saw this comparison last night - some difference from BF3 https://old.reddit.com/r/battlefield2042/comments/qvbl2h/battlefield_3_voice_lines_vs_battlefield_2042/

But maybe there's hope there...

Yep it will reward you XP and it will also count a number of kills towards the vehicle/weapon you use (around 15 before it stops but this seems to be a bug based off what they did to stop the Portal XP farms). Handy if you are close to getting an attachment but need the last few kills.

Yep and it's a ridiculous situation when you need to grind to level 18 just to get a weapon that gives you a chance to win gunfights :D Hope the patch on Friday makes the AR options some bit viable.

Finished the LCMG Mastery* last night its a decent gun for all ranges but lacks the power of PP29 SMG 😁

The last few grips for the LCMG turn it into a very capable gun.

*50 underbarrel grenade launcher mastery may take a while, maybe when Metro comes out.

For BreakthroughI cannot stress how important smoke grenades are, i know you can wingsuit around but well placed smoke grenades can get you around the side of the point of attack and you can open up an entrance for your team.

Feel people don't realise the value in the insta pop smokes, I'd often medic and pop smokes galore in past battlefields and it's just as effective here, drop smoke and sprint for the rez off.

Have noticed there are a still a few medics going, not as clear as before but they exist. The nearby medic indicator would be a welcome return. (aside from the bug where you can't revive someone clipping in a wall ) that's a genuine pain the ass. Feel like a dick looking at em leaving them to die!

Its very finicky and likely incomplete, but you have to move the attachment to position 1 in the T/plus menu in the deploy screen - if that makes sense..

Plus system doesn't seem to work in game in portal.

Thinking of buying a Laptop solely for BF2042

What would these specs run it like.

Processor: intel core i7-9750H

Graphics: nvidia rtx 2060 6gb vram gddr6

Other option is

Core i7 11370H 

RTX 3060 6gb.

Difference in price is around 450.00 - If I could get away with the 2060 @ low - medium @ 60fps 1080p Id be quite ok with that.

Some laptops run lower power graphics cards. Sometimes significantly so. Therefore check reviews on both, notebookcheck is the best site for really indepth reviews. In certain cases a decently powered 2060 will be almost as fast as an underpowered 3060. Is the second laptop an Asus TUF?

If grinding on bots, you don't need to keep cycling the maps, you can select whatever map you like by pressing the settings button

Been trying to grind a the attack chopper given that the starting weapons take about 20 direct hits to kill anything and you don't get any splash damage on infantry so you basically need to sniper them from the air

Hoping that the upgraded weapons will be a bit meatier

I know that laptop well, it's a good one but the 3060 in it is underpowered compared to most others on the market

Go search a video where they test BF2042 on a 3060 laptop card, reduce it by about 10% and see if you can live with it. Likewise check the 2060 laptop vs the slower 3060 and see if you could live with that

All that said, the TUF F15 is a good laptop in all other respects, just a little underpowered card and chip if you are a frames junkie

Playing the 10 hour trial on my Series X at the moment and it's running okay for now, I think I've 2 hours left...

It's a mess of bugs and the usual launch nonsense but I am having fun with it...

It drops frames like feck though when it gets intense on some maps, I was playing with my mate on PS5 and he wasn't getting it at all, so I'll he interested to see does it happen like that on the PS5 version...

I only pre-ordered it because I had a GameStop voucher since last Xmas to use up and knew I would buy BF at some stage anyway 😂

Sure BF4 didn't work for literally a year after it released on PS4 so hence my being wary of this one...

I will skip on the PC I think my 1070 would melt if I attempted to play it on that!

The 9750H would probably be better on paper for BF2042 as while older it's hex-core with 12 threads, the 11th gen i7 is four-core eight thread.

4/8 really doesn't cut the mustard for BF2042 to be honest so definitely would avoid the 11370H.

The problem with the 9750H is also that it depends very heavily on the cooling ability of the laptop. The base clock speed is low, boost is high. However in most budget/cheaper laptops, the cooling isn't great so it wildly fluctuates, leading to all-over-the-place FPS and total inability to maintain a constant decent clockspeed.

My opinion - you are way, way better off getting a laptop with a Ryzen 5600H or 5800H as the base processor.

Also keep in mind you really would need 16GB ram as well in dual channel config (eg 2x8GB, a single stick of 16GB would hurt performance badly)

Obviously check out reviews first but this is more like what you should be looking at. €1139, Ryzen 5800H, 16GB Ram, RTX3060, 144hz screen.

That Victus was actually my second choice....Wasnt sure how the Ryzen stood up to the Intels these days - although my main Pc Ryzen 1700x and that holds up quite well with my (Old) R9 390X - 75 FPS @1080P medium to low settings.

Ryzen is generally superior and has been for quite some time in the overall scheme of things. The 5800H is superior to either the 9750H or the 11370H, it would also be decently better than a desktop 1700X.

BF2042 is pretty demanding, just like BFV and BF1 were when they released. Buying a laptop for it specifically, I'd say 5800H/16GB/RTX3060 would really be the minimum to have a decent experience.

I have that exact spec and haven't tried BF2042 though BFV runs at ultra smooth as butter. My old laptop chugged on BFV because it had an i7-9750H and it constantly overheated and throttled to low clockspeed.

Nearly lost the head playing tonight

Is it only me or do all vehicles bar the pickup take ages to destroy? Tanks eat rockets and anti armour grenades. Same with hovercrafts and the track vehicle (cannot remember the name of it)

The AA launcher takes an age to lock onto choppers, so by the time I can shoot a second rocket their flares have recharged.

Any tips greatly appreciated before I break another controller.
