PS5 playtest cancelled, Xbox box one might still go ahead from tomorrow.

When I tried to sign up for a PC one, it insisted on me using an XBox controller, which ruled me out.

    Must be plaform then

I am excited about the new game. I am freshly coming from COD. I cannot play that title properly for the life of me, it's just not for me I guess. All battlefields have been fun for me, and I regret going away from the title. Even if Battlefield has one characteristic that aligns with Battlefield, I am still happy to get away from the run and gun style glitchy COD play.

Beta supposed to be this Saturday but no official confirmation, preload morrow but again not official.

Think the latest dates thrown around are Sept 22nd for the Beta. Maybe a bit earlier for 'preorders' - I've EA Play or whatever, so hopefully will get it in early access via that subscription..if I like it will probably buy the full game then as I've done in the past.

Curious to see differences between the Beta and that other technical playtest that my good friend was playing

The voice and motion actor for Irish has been found dead of a suspected heroin overdose.

Yeah, pretty sad news, he was great in The Wire. RIP.

Seems to be a lot of radio silence lately from the dev team, wonder if they hit a hitch or if there'll be a delay. Beta was rumoured for the 22nd

One part where they should get a pass is the work from home angle, I feel game dev is something that'd need a lot of in-office work, so kudos to them for what they've achieved so far but hopefully we're not delayed til 2022.

There's been some significant gameplay changes added just recently, e.g. no more reviving with the medic dart gun from a distance. Late changes like that are a little concerning to me. I've seen way too many games released early just to pad a publishers annual revenue report. I'd be fine with a delay till March 2022, and to receive a game that's actually completed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,499 ✭✭✭✭Varik

While I've no faith in Dice not to **** up, but a change like that wouldn't concern me. Yes it's a huge difference but there's a big difference between internal testing fill with people somewhat playing the objective and trying to play as they envision the game to be played compared to what happens when a 1000s monkeys slam their faces on a keyboard in a public test.

Plenty of games especially F2P have done far worse and actually had the mistake make it to release before being nerfed.

Rumours of the playtest not being as they said and actually being the current build, and then whatever huge issue that cancelled the PlayStation playtest.

Looks like I'll be playing BF4 a little longer

And Nov 12th for 'early access' according to Freeman so not bad. An extra sprint of development maybe, be interesting to see what they can turn around.

I see the game requirements make zero sense, as is the case with most games these days.

The "minimum" AMD processor is the 3600, while the "recommended" Intel processor is the i7-4790, an almost 8 year old CPU that not only has way less cores and threads than the 3600, it's also slower per core.

Makes no sense whatsoever unless the game for some reason is running horribly on Ryzen. Which I doubt given BFV runs excellent on Ryzen.

Even putting aside the ridiculously overinflated AMD minimum spec, why would the recommended Intel CPU be an ancient i7 from 2014, which sure can run the game, but there's zero way it's giving an optimal experience versus an 8700K, 9700K, 10400F, etc that have more cores and threads.

I honestly don't understand where they pull these requirements from. Cyberpunk was the same, lists a crappy €99 3200G APU as the recommended AMD CPU and also Intel 4790 as the recommended Intel. Game comes out and unsurprisingly runs like total crap on both compared to newer processors.

Where do they pull them from? It happens in tons of games.

bought it from Pc specialist for 950.

Normally I build my own pc but i was only saving about 50-100e this time around so said I'd just have them build it instead and save me the hassle of RMA'ing faulty parts if that happened.

One of the perks is even after your order is delivered you can go back in, select your order and you can upgrade any of the components and they will either collect your pc to do the upgrade or send you the part. For some reason they charge 1250 for the card when you buy it with a Pc but for an upgrade they only charge 950.. couldn't resist that offer plus I got BF2042 for free with it.

Probably some weird manufacturer price fixing thing to limit the gouging, they can't charge a premium for a boxed GPU but the actual installed one they aren't limited as it's part of a full system with all the labour and quality checks that go and can accounted for in the price.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,418 ✭✭✭✭Blazer

yeah not sure as I saw the same model going for 1250e on other sites just for the gpu. Could be a mistake on PC Spec's side but I'm not complaining.

Beta is now up for download. You can launch the game but no servers are up yet.

About 10GB or so for PC.

Click on Origin- open Battlefield games and you'll see the beta there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,282 ✭✭✭Ardent

Showing up as 18.8 GB for me on Origin

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,255 ✭✭✭Shlippery

Yep, got it installed too. Looking forward to seeing the differences from the technical playtest.

Disaster, not able to get in with an active EA Pro sub. Think the servers are having a mare

Edit: Got in after an hour or so of trying :)

Deja Vu :) Electronic Arts lead community manager, Adam Freeman, has stated Electronic Arts is scaling up server capacity to account for player demand.

EA's sheer contempt for their customers never ceases to amaze me.
