Sleepwalking

I've started sleepwalking the last two years. It only happens occasionally (usually when I'm in a new place and am very tired or stressed when going to bed).

It is nerve wrecking because of the circumstances it crops up in - I have to put obstacles between me and the door when I stay in hotels, prop chairs against the handles etc. Otherwise I go wandering the halls at night. I've been lucky so far that nothing has happened to me but I fear it's only a matter of time. Plus it's incredibly embarrassing.

Does anyone know what the usual reasons for sleepwalking starting in adult years are? Does anyone have experience in stopping it from occurring?
