Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Should have kicked the 3 pts there

Ireland are just so unconvincing with their rucks. Unable to control and protect the ball.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,464 ✭✭✭rodge123

Ah lads take the 3, braindead

  • Registered Users Posts: 154 ✭✭magic17

Dreadful decision there, that could be the difference at the end

  • Registered Users Posts: 348 ✭✭Raving_Magic

Oh that could be a critical moment in this match

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,984 ✭✭✭Soups123

Poor call by Sexton we can win this game by taking our points with the amount of fouls the French give away

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,385 ✭✭✭Nerdlingr

    Take the points ffs

Situation that drives me mad but seems very common: defender flies into the ruck and in the process of going to ground knocks the ball out of the ruck: ref says "ball is out" and play continues. Surely its hands in the ruck or at best a knock on???

On hindsight. But I think they were right to go for the 7. Our bench isn’t particularly strong. So we need to try and take 7 wherever we can.

Just panic stations being on the back foot, trying to force it a bit too much.

That decision has to be questioned at half time really poor. Experience should kick in there

    We’ll regret that. Stupid call

Some great play from Ireland...good half from them

    Few silly mistakes

Ryan and Beirne been very good in particular

Replay clearly shows the French defender immediately going off his feet at the ruck before they win that turnover.

But we should've taken the points before that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,965 ✭✭✭blackwhite

Horrendous from Barnes there. Jackal went down on his knees, then back up. And French lying on wrong side blocking the clean out arriving.
Normally the stuff he’s good at spotting

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,229 ✭✭✭A-Train

    Always take your points.

Everything is so predictable from Ireland. Bloody frustrating.

We should defend our way of life to an extent that any attempt on it is crushed, so that any adversary will never make such an attempt in the future.

Well I guess Sexton isnt captain material after all

  • Registered Users Posts: 883 ✭✭✭eclipsechaser

Yer man had enough time on his knees to get in a decade of the rosary before taking the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 242 ✭✭champchamp

    What was that penalty for?
The TV coverage is poor, no replays of the penalties.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Fickou 100% jumped to the floor ahead of the maul knowing it would go over him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,299 ✭✭✭F34

He took a decision to go for the try and personally delighted to see them actually taking that risk.

How the French are getting away with so many penalties in the 22 without a yellow card is beyond me.

stockdale at full back is giving me deja vu anxiety of keith earl's stunts at full back. infact I think one of his worst performances was in paris 2010

Ireland have been good in fairness. Not getting some of the negativity on here.

Especially how much of a gimme of a kick it was and that we have time on our side here...

French have defended well by and large, we’ve allowed them maybe look good, our attack looks a bit cumbersome and one dimensional. Let’s try and get the ball out wide earlier...

5 came around the corner of the breakdown to clear Irish support. Def penalty for Ireland and arguable yellow for France given the num of penalties in the 22.

    Unlike johnny
You have a penalty advantage, it's more of less a given 3.
So you can try something high risk to score a try, this is something that Sexton is terrible at, cross field kick to Conway that was 15 meters from the line and into touch.

Not the first time either he's done similar.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,924 ✭✭✭KH25

France are getting away with a fair bit, but the only reason we’re losing is our own mistakes. The defending for their first was a joke and Stockdale may as well have handed them the second one.

Yeah it was crazy and Sexton rightfully snapping. At no point was he set and competing in all of that

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 71 ✭✭Skeetur

Should be taking those kicks. The French defence is shocking and there's gonna be plenty of 3 points coming.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,736 ✭✭✭lalababa

Sexton is past it, and we always get shafted when Barnes the premadonna is around.

Regardless of the call to kick to the corner that was terrible reffing. French defender had two bites at the cherry and failed he also had his hands on the floor in front of the ball to support his weight and brought them back. That's not counting the French player on our side. That's 5 infringements. Really ****ing poor.

Ireland are playing like we need to win by 30 points. Completely daft.

Dunno, stockdale has been alright. Able to get the high balls and recover field position. Which is what we need from our full back for the most part.

His difficulty was catching low balls and that slide out of play with the ball.

Would not claim to be any expert on Rugby but how is there an English Referee for this match? Seems a bit crazy to me..

It’s always a home country TV producer for game coverage. French TV have a habit of not showing any replays that suggest France get a decision they shouldn’t have. Same for soccer as well.

Think we're in a bad position where we need to develop a fullback 'on the job.' Stockdale needs time to develop as a 15, but in while he's doing that we've leaking points. Same story with Larmour really.

Has to be a neutral union to who is playing. The refs are typically pooled from participating unions.

They do get assessed and if bias is an issue they'll get sanctioned.

Because Barnes is probably the best ref in the world. He screwed up on the last call, but are you perfect?

except TMO has access to any and every angle he wants to look at to make decision and ref can see whichever he wants.
TV producer or whoever else has no influence on that. Was told this by a TMO at a talk a while back.
