Apparently once it's called today it's allowed from midnight... Such an eye sore

Her posters are everywhere. Not sure it’ll do her any good mind.

Retrospectively legal once the election is called on the same day. Soc Dem and SF posters were also up.

Joe Neville's posters in Celbridge are pretty much 100% illegally sited - on traffic sign poles or at shoulder height (if even) on lamp posts over footpaths. Suspect someone went out without a ladder.

Yes but potentially (and it could be a long shot) the election may not have been called e.g. MDH taken ill

The Presidential Commission immediately comes in to force in that case, there's been some pretty important legislation signed in by them instead over the years.

Harris pulling a date switch at the last minute was more likely, but not once FG started postering in palmerstown on Thursday morning!

Been struggling to find a GP since mine retired, but Boyd Medical will take me on. Just wondering how people find them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,161 ✭✭✭buffalo

I'm with them. They can be busy, but my feeling is that's common across all GPs at the moment - you can ring Tuesday for an appointment and sometimes be seen that day, or sometimes it might be Thursday. Similarly, you can arrive for a 12:30 appointment and not be seen until 1pm.

There are a few doctors in the practice, I haven't been seen by Dr Boyd herself in a couple of years but I find everyone good. Personal preference is probably Dr Julie, but you'll get whoever's on duty on the day I think.

Liffey Champion leading with capital funding of €7.5m from KCC for a Leixlip pool. Wasn't there a similar announcement just before the 2007 general election? Déjà vu!

Any chance it'll be built on the Castletown lands? Zoned open space and amenity…

Fingers crossed for a swimming pool. We could really do with more amenities.

    I would love a big M&S shop :)

This type of nonsense is why we need to copy the only thing UK elections do right - purdah

You can't make announcements like this during an election. The announcement is held til after. This is just Neville trying to shore up votes.

The promises are all just box ticking of all the main issues.
I am happy all the politicians are pushing for Castletown House, I really hope they get it sorted, I went here every week with my kids and they loved it.

Well got out on the newly upgraded section of canal between Louisa bridge and Deey bridge at weekend - Smashing job done and to a high standard. The new section path cut out at louisa bridge is very open and safe with vegetation sufficiently cut back. And a new a path laid, sandwiched between Matt Goff bridge and Leixlip FC astro pitches to access/ exit canal path.

Bravo i say to all involved in delivery of this refurbed section of canal path / Greenway. It's a great asset to the area and hopefully the good work continues towards Maynooth.

Anyone know when the lights will be turned on on the new stretch of canal path from Deey Bridge to Louisa Bridge? It's been an excellent addition imo. Street lighting all seem to be installed already.

It'd be nice if they could make the Matt Goff bridge a bit more pedestrian friendly though to round off the loop, a barrier or hedge between the road and footpath would be ideal.

I'm not sure if they have even turned on the lights between Louisa Br & Confey.

As for shrubs growing on the Matt Goff Bridge - doubtful if they'd be allowed grow on it but there really should be something along the rest of that dual carriageway.

The lights are definitely on between LB and Confey, there was so much grumbling when there wasn't.

There's no space for shrubs on the bridge btw - it's footpath and cycle track. It'd be nice if they regularly sweeped the cycle track though, it's always full of shite there because of the lack of grass verge.

I was on it recently (can't remember if it was early morning or late evening) but no lights. Maybe it was just that day.

Edit: Drove past it a short while ago and sure enough it was lit up

There is actually a patch of grass between the cycle path and the road for the most part. I think it's just when you go over the bridge it's only footpath and cycle path. Even a small fence would do as an added protection to stop dogs and small children going onto the road. Very fast road.

Fwiw on that stretch of canal the lights are still not on. If you're driving by Intel you might mistake the street lights on the old Dublin Road (R148) for the canal ones.
