    This may not answer your question correctly - but this is from the support FAQ

    Autosteer is unavailable due to driver attentiveness. How do I turn it back on?

    If you repeatedly ignore the inattentive driver warnings, Autosteer will be disengaged for that trip. If you receive several
    ‘Forced Autopilot Disengagements’ (three times for vehicles without a cabin camera and five times for vehicles with a cabin camera), Autosteer and all features that use Autosteer will be temporarily removed for approximately one week.

    There is no way to manually clear a Forced Autopilot Disengagement or suspension. After approximately one week, you will be able to use Autosteer again.

    Im traveling the motorways a lot for work and since they introduced this new system I get warnings regularly, even with two hands on the wheel. The biggest issue is if Im driving straight and holding the wheel steady, its doesnt detect any movements on the wheel and I cop a warning. I appreciate why the changes were made with autosteer, but I feel they have gone way too far.

    As @slave1 noted, as it counted per driving session, if I do happen get 3-4 warnings, I'll pull over, stop the car and then restart. Sometimes instead of driving through the express lane on a toll, I'll go through the booth and use that as a chance to stop and restart at the barrier (literally just need to put the car in park). This then resets the warning counter back to zero so I dont get a strike.

    You get a warning, move the wheel slightly, that's not a strike. A strike is when you get the warning, ignore it for a while and then you get a strike as the car assumes your not paying attention as it prompted you, andyou ignored it.

    The random nature of the warnings is a bit of a pain. I got to the point where I was effectively steering the car in tandem with autopilot to avoid them so questioning if as well off with std autopilot.

    Same with overtaking and moving back, I can't see why there is a need to apply pressure on the wheel wach time. I accidently deactivated the EAP a couple of times in the beginnning by applying too much pressure but continued to find the experience a bit artificial tbh.

    Yes but there are a couple of different levels of warnings. Get enough red warnings in one driving session and AP will be disengaged giving you a strike. If I have a long day I could be on the road for 6-7 hours, its pretty easy to rack up the warnings over this time. I got a couple of strikes very early on as I was getting used to the changes. By doing what I posted earlier, Ive had no issues since - YMMV. Tesla aggressive changes to autosteer has been a complete bollox.

    I put a cam cover over mine and just leave it closed. I still managed to get a second strike when I was travelling back from NI last week. I was cruising at around 70-80kmh because I had a headliner strapped to the roof bars and didn't want too much wind force to damage it. I had my hand resting on the wheel the whole time and it still managed to rack up enough warnings to get a strike. Seems to be worse at cruising speeds. It's the most annoying part of driving the Tesla.

    I get the odd warning alright but never strikes. Each car must have its own personality 😃 Or maybe you lot are just doing the bollix on it😇

    it's a problem with various Teslas I've driven, and with my MY. The torque sensor they use in the steering rack is not as sensitive as those in well established brands like Volvo or Audi, there's a lot of play in the steering before the sensor detects input. So it's either purposefully calibrated that way or they're using a low quality sensor, either way I hate it and wish they made it more like established brands..

    Difference between Tesla and bmw. Tesla specifically ask you to apply pressure, a small turn as such. My bmw require me just to place my hand back on the wheel. It’s as if the bmw wheel has a sensor running through the wheel.

    Tbh Im beginning to think that I couldnt be bothered dealing with that sort of messing and think I may stick with std autopilot.

    It seems ridiculous to me that the EAP is giving strikes to drivers who are essentially playing by the rules. I was holding the steering wheel the entire time and even regularly moving the steering wheel and I was still getting the prompts to apply pressure to wheel.

    For what is a pretty impressive system otherwise I don't understand why Tesla didn't put pressure sensors on the steering wheel which would obviate the need for this silliness

    There's no sensors in the wheel itself. The EPS is just very sensitive to input. Maybe Tesla did it by design. Whatever way it's setup, I think Teslas implementation is inferior, I wish they'd copy volvo, audi or bmw.

    I have the standard AP. I don't see the benefit of having EAP.

    I’ve EAP and no strikes. Never get any warnings other than to apply pressure every prompt.

    But its the frequency of the warnings which is ridiculous and the need to do unnecessary movements. I can be driving at cruising on the motorway and holding the wheel steady with two hands with AP on and get a warning, so I have to actually wobble the wheel.

    Ive always loved driving this car and AP was amazing at reducing fatigue on my long trips. But now its Autosteer is second rate compared to a number of other of active lane assist systems.

    I can't remember if you installed the cam cover and if you think this helps? I have installed a cam cover and will see if makes any difference. will be heading to Cork in a couple of weeks so a long motorway stint to test it.

    Now I’m not saying EAP is worth it, it came on my car as a CPO 😀

    Ive read a lot of conflicting reports on reddit. Some say it increases sensitivity as a result of the cam being blocked, others say it makes no difference. Couldnt find anything definitive one way or the other.

    Very much enjoying this thread. I was looking at a VW ID.3 and eventually ruled it out, deciding on a used Model 3 instead, if I go for my first EV.

    Have decided on a used long range model and just a case of finding the right car now.

    Looking for a 2021 so it's happy hunting at the moment :)

    Just stick a plastic water bottle in the steering wheel and cover the camera and you will never get a warning again

    Instead of holding the steering wheel steady apply a small force to the left or right.

    How often do you apply the left/right force? I was doing this regularly during my last drive and still got the random notifications to apply pressure to wheel

    I just apply constant pressure of one arm resting on the window sill and never get the "apply force" warnings. But I have the camera blocked and just the basic AP.

    Probably better to look for a Made in China RWD version. 2022 version. Basically the same range as the Made in USA version, but better built and with LFP battery and power boot and a few other upgrades. You lose the faster 0-60, but gain a whole lot more IMO.

    I mostly use a counter weight on the steering wheel, and when doing 100km/h+, I never see a warning, or blue flash on screen. Maybe on 2 or 3 occasions I have seen it doing over 100km/h on a long journey across Ireland. It's only when doing slower speeds I ever see the warning. Sometimes it says there is a cheat device detected and to remove it. I am always at the ready to grab the wheel with my hands resting on my legs, or just lightly touching the wheel.

    Here's where it gets funny. I had the counter weight off the wheel for a few weeks recently and drove my usual route and random trips. I would leave my right hand resting to the right side of the wheel and my wrist resting on upper knee. This would emulate the same turning force on the wheel as the counter-weight. I get the warnings as frequently as when the counter-weight is on the wheel, as well as the cheat device warning! How can it detect a cheat device device when there is no cheat device? (not a real question)

    It's ridiculous and needs to be sorted in an update.

    @...Ghost... Thanks for that. When you say RWD, you mean a standard range is it? I thought the 2021 cars were China built as well no?
