Once your order goes in pretty quickly Tesla reps will send you on the forms for the AIB finance. The decision is also pretty quick after that.

I ordered in November and the finance process only got started last week, so you'll probably have a bit of a wait ahead of you if it's anything like me!

the financing is a 4.9% car loan is it? Can your deposit be anything you want, or is there a min and max %?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 218 ✭✭Ricey3509

At first glance it looks to be anything you want

Anything you want... we put down €20k off the car up front, and financed the remainder.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 64 ✭✭JDilleen

"You can put down anywhere from 10% to 80% of the value of the car down as a down payment and you can finance the car over 24, 36, 48, 60 or 72 months."

That's direct from my email from the delivery team. I believe it is 4.9%, yes.

Just had my vin assigned this morning

Tesla m3 rwd white black interior and stock wheels ( the most basic :P )

Tesla chat confirmed this vin is the new 2022 spec with the ryzen processor

10th letter of you VIN gives production date which will include the 2022 specs

Did they send you any message to indicate new chip would result in lower range and ask you to accept. Do you mind letting me know when you ordered as I would have ordered same spec but delivery was May when I ordered in December so I went white exterior, white interior with aero wheels to bring date into March delivery?

Interestingly when I ordered at the weekend, going with white and aero gave a May delivery , adding an option brought it back to March. I assume its a ruse to make you order some extra's!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 280 ✭✭jordan191

yep if you change colour or buy the 19" wheels you'll probably get the car in March/april

They are probably required to send this confirmation request out due to the EU's strong consumer laws as a result of the new M3 getting a slightly lower range on the WLTP test rating in Europe.

In reality, the amount of extra power consumed by the AMD CPU would have negligible effect on the range of the M3 given the size of the battery. Your diving style will be the biggest factor that affects your range - especially if you have a lead foot like me!

Ordered on the 31st of October.

no message from them on any changes or anything yet but live chat confirmed a new 2022 model.

the vin was assigned straight after getting the finance approved by aib

Big difference between Atom and AMD CPU, that new CPU could easily be north of 600w, I know it does not sound like much but that does add up

yeah for me that would be almost 2kWh over a 3 hour period, which is ~4% of my battery, which if hopping between Superchargers would be fine, but going out into the charging wilderness....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,200 ✭✭✭wassie

600W+ sounds extremely high. Going by reports it is a Ryzen V1807B variant (YE180FC3T4MFG?) which is a 4 core 45W embedded Zen 1CPU (the older ATOM is ~20W ) is not too dissimilar to the CPU in the Playstation 5. That has a power draw of ~350W. Still as you say, not insignificant. Not sure if there is also a separate dedicated GPU onboard also which would impact?

But what this translates to in terms of loss of real world range (as opposed to WLTP test range) I think will negligble i.e. in the order of 1-2%.

Here's the table with WLTP range adjustments, if I was buying a M3 then it would be the RWD so no impact

    • Model 3 RWD (no changes)
    • 18" wheels: 510 km (317 miles)
    • 19" wheels: 491 km (305 miles)
    • Model 3 LR AWD
    • 18" wheels: 626 km (389 miles), down by 11 km or 1.7% from 637 km
    • 19" wheels: 602 km (374 miles), down by 12 km or 2.0% from 614 km
    • Model 3 Performance
    • 20" wheels: 547 km (340 miles), down by 20 km or 3.5% from 567 km

Actually makes me wonder if such a big upgrade in the CPU is warranted given the range hit, as the infotainment system probably wont be able to take full advantage of its processing power.

Then again, I could ask the same question of myself as I once owned a Landrover Discovery with a 4.0L petrol V8.

Must be anticipating longer queues/waits at SuC after they get opened up, gotta kill that waiting time somehow

Its unlikely to be pulling full wattage at all times that the car is in use which reduces the impact as well.

They actually got in touch after lunch today, so I've got the ball rolling on it. I've asked for a trade in offer on my car (192 530e) so we'll see what they come back with. I got a pretty strong price from zucar on it (they matched the best trade in price I got against an EV6) - has anyone got any recommendations on those services? I've going to give webuycars.ie a try as well.

What have they done with the UI, it's absolutely abysmal now.

I just had a run in with a guard who pulled me over and incorrectly accused me of running a red light. Thankfully I was able to pull up the dashcam footage and make him watch it after which he eventually backed down but he didn't seem happy about it and I absolutely do not trust that I'll never hear about this again. There used to be a little icon in the top left corner that you hit once and it saved the last 10 minutes footage, gone. I looked and looked and couldn't find anywhere in the dashcam app the ensure the last X minutes footage had been saved. I had to just pull the SD card out when I got home and hope it was there, there was a series of one minute video in a recents folder that thankfully the footage was on. An absolutely massive step backwards in user experience however, they've made such a mess of the whole UI.

That must have been very frustrating with the garda standing there pissed off and you going through settings telling him wait I will find it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,383 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Thankfully getting the footage up was easy and was able to show him before he'd officially done anything, just making sure it had saved permanently afterwards was the issue.

Sucks but as a quick and dirty solution record the footage with your mobile

Its located on the CONTROLS screen

    dashcam.JPG

Not ideal but all major controls are located here now. Also check your dashcam settings located under the Safety Menu - I always ensure the setting that saves the most recent recording by honking the horn is on.

Worthwhile taking 10-15 minutes after a major update to go through all of the menus and locations so your not messing around in a pressure situation like an accident or an over-zealous Garda breathing down your neck. Glad to hear you were able to show them in the end.

I use vocal command "save clip". Unless he's browsing boards he knows you have the footage so he'll drop it.

I keep banging the drum about the latest UI update. They've made a balls of it.

All the some 1 touch icons are now in a sub menu which needs 2 touches. Even the fan speed now is no longer plus or minus, but a stupid sliding bar.
