Congrats to them but they need to push on now and get back to an All Ireland then take it from there. Terrible record in the All Ireland series

Tis the 'hard rotation' this year with the winners of Leinster (Ballyhale or St Martins) to come in the All Ireland Semi Finals on the 20th/21st Dec.

I will say one thing, I will reserve my judgement on waterford club hurling after today

That ballygunner team are unbelievable, Aaron O'Neil, Ian Kenny, Conor Sheehan Harry ruddle are some men to win dirty ball , the forwards are fairly formidable too dessie with 7 from play and 10 points in the second half with no wides in a November wind is something else

If they could cut out some of that over elaborate passing around the middle third they have 2 of the most dangerous forwards in club hurling in Dessie and Patrick Fitz. Very good team but I don't think they'll win the all ireland.

I watched the movement of Mikey Mahoney and Philip Mahoney to create scores for both Patrick Fitzgerald and dessie , it was fairly impressive especially In the first half

But as you said in the second half Eire Og moved Marco cleary to a third midfield role from Corner forward , it had a massive impact on the first 20 minutes of the second half, a better team will see this and capitalise on this

It's not passing for the sake of passing, it's getting the ball to the player under the least pressure who has time to look up and to deliver a good ball to the forwards. Also sometimes the delivering player looks up and see nothing on so recycles back into the middle third passing machine. The difference was there to see yesterday, Philip Mahoney was the delivering player looked up, nothing on, standing on the spot under no pressure dropped the ball to pick it up again as he's used his two catches, looked up again, still nothing on, Mikey Mahoney the, play maker, ran to him took and easy pass and carried instead, In contrast Eire Og were just hitting 50/50 balls down the field. The intelligence, calmness, and trust in the system, is what has this team so far ahead in Munster.

That's very well described. Ballygunner don't play with big forwards so the idea is to either hit a man on the run or break with running off the shoulder. On a number of occasions yesterday Éire Óg set up with a screen and Ballygunner managed to draw them towards the ball by playing it in triangles and that creates the space.

I'm not a Gunners club man but have to admire all they've achieved.

Dessie put in a masterclass yesterday and what about Patrick Fitzgerald ; he was nearly in the stand for one of his scores. I think he should be on the frees all the time, not just when Pairic isn't on the pitch.

Eire Og were poor enough apart from the classy Shane O'Donnell. I think Gunners will go all the way but their next opponent(s) will be a different proposition. Apparently, Shefflin has never lost a knockout game when in charge of Ballyhale but from what I read, they are not the force of old so could be vulnerable this weekend. I don't know too much about Loughrea but Galway county winners are always hard to beat (assuming they win their semi final).

Ballygunner never looked in trouble yesterday…..their toughest game this season remains the semi final v de la salle…..which they somehow won in the last 2-3 mins…..the next day be it st martins or shamrocks will definitely be an acid test…..I’m sure their preference would be st martins as they are not as ‘battle hardy’ at this level and it would be their first provincial title…..shamrocks bar the 2022 win have been ballygunne’s ‘bogey’ team for the last 7-8 years……thankfully in the last ten years wateford teams have began to banish the kk dominance over them eg the 2017 game in extra time in thurles, the all Ireland semi in 2020 in an empty croke park and the minors semi final earlier in the year…..time for Ballygunner to continue this trend if they do end up playing the shamrocks
