if they have played senior don’t think they can now drop back to the u20’s for future games🤔 I could be wrong.

was the full back harshly taken off..?

I'd agree. Had a look at the drawings in the planning references mentioned, which are either the same or similar to the old plans of the dressing rooms at the city end.

I'm going to presume it's a cost issue, probably cheaper to building dressing rooms rather than in corporate them under a new stand at the keanes road end.

I'd imagine this new terrace would be built on the existing bank as was done North Stand.

I would much prefer a terrace at either end no matter how small, the idea of just a block building present at the city end would be cat, and retaining the current building, they'll be as many buildings as there will stands/terraces.

Tipp have 3 Harty Cups and two Minor all Irelands won over the last few years tonight’s result was always likely to happen.. big advantage over Waterford physically. No fault of Ken & Co there just playing catch up.

Waterford have good hurlers but I’m afraid are all very similar. There’s seems to be a problem perhaps with maybe a few of the Ballygunner players get it very easy at club level as they are so dominant. It can be quite hard to develop at Inter County level when they are not being tested hard at underage level with the club. Big decisions to be made in Waterford next few years, why are Waterford persisting with the likes of Colin Dunford at Senior level, there need to be a big influx brought in to the Senior Panel next year. Maybe that was done this year but Conor Keane and Sean Mackey impressed me this year should be called in immediately.

Need to start preparing for De Burca, Barron, Bennett x3, Aussie, Ian Kenny, Curran all to go in the next while. Could do with a few bigger men up front too to offer a different alternative than what’s there

Colin Dunford not on the panel anymore
if im not mistaken Conor Keane actually on the senior panel for the earlier rounds of the league? Agree I’d have him in there now looks one of the best young defenders I’ve seen coming through in a while

Conor Keane started against Laois in the league.

Dunford was on the bench for the Offaly game in Walsh Park.

Yeah pretty much the original design with a redesigned West end.

they are squeezing a small corner of seats in the North east corner. The admin building beside that will look poor in my opinion. Hard to be sure but it looks like there's only a small viewing standing area from the cross section below :o(

The good news is they have called the new western terrace "Covered" with capacity about 5500. That will be great.

I actually agree with you for once. I don’t think the management actually did the young lad any favours by keeping faith in him as long as they did, his confidence looked shot from general play as a result and looked a dejected figure when he was being subbed off.

Not bad! Hopefully we can bring on Patrick Fitz, Kiely and Aussie in the second half to assault the score board!!

Strong team. Good to see so many back fit. Pity Gavin Fives is out injured after doing well recently. Is Conor Ryan also injured?

Surprised Shane Bennett isn’t starting, there’s a lot of attacking firepower on the bench though. Shane, Kiely, Patrick Fitz and Aussie (depending how much he has done) could all make significant impacts.

Possibly a little light on cover for the backs, unless Kiely or Shane are viewed as cover there also.

First Ronnie O'Sullivan and now Aussie ; 2 legends making their long awaited comeback !

Pretty happy with that team to be honest. With Kiely, Aussie and and Patrick fitz getting such limited game time in the league then getting them on the bench for this is as big a plus as anything and hopefully they are all fit enough to make an impact when needed.

Paddy Leavey still at wing back and kenny in the full back line could be our weakest spots but Leavey and Kieran Bennett can swap but, as pointed out by someone else we don't have a lot of cover in the defensive positions. Carthach could play in any of positions 2-9 and Tom Barron in halfback line but how fit is Cathrach and how reliable is Tom Barron at championship level!

All in all I think it's better than any team we put together for the league so hopefully our run is timed right for this campaign and we can get off to a positive start and carry on that momentum

the one thing I always worry about especially if Mike Kiely not playing is our lack of aerial ball winners in the forwards, Clare half back line are big across the board

As a neutral, that Waterford team looks very strong on paper.

Clare’s weakness is their full back line, Darragh Lohan is starting for one reason and one reason only and that’s his surname.
Isolate him inside and give Dessie, Stephen Bennett and Patrick Curran turns at roasting him.

    Waterford by 2

That's nowhere near a strong Waterford team. True they have some good players like Dessie, Fitzgerald, Stephen Bennett and de burca but that midfield and one of the corner backs are Joe McDonagh standard players at best. A real tail to that team. Clare far stronger.

strong 26 named. Off the top of my head Conor Ryan, gavin fives & Peter hogan (went off injured in league final) are the ones missing. Pity for Conor and gavin who would not have been far off starting. Serious bench with the likes of ozzy, Shane, Patrick fitz and kiely to come on. Hopefully they are all near match fitness and have a good 30 odd minutes in them. Like some one said we are really light as far as defenders go with really only cathrach and tom Barron on the bench. Hopefully the likes of prunty and iarlaith can last the 70. I think Kieran Bennett and leavy will swap

I see diarmuid Ryan and Cleary haven’t been named on the Clare 26 big losses if they don’t play but I spose I’ll believe it when I see it. With O’Donnell out aswell they are down 3 big players.
One last thing am sure some of you will have noticed that the Clare backs tend to be a little niggly to say the least so hopefully none of our lads react as we saw how this cost cork last Sunday. Would definitely be worried with the likes of ozzy and Patrick fitz who do seem to have a short fuse at times

It wouldn’t have been my starting team. It’s a case of lads on the bench are actually better than what’s starting this gives an illusion of having strength in depth.

I suppose you have to think about Limerick coming 6 days later you can’t throw all your eggs in

Big call with the keeper aswell. Probably 50/50 between both of them I hope Nolan remains calm as he has quality but can be a bit rash

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 gunners200

massive call with the keeper, don’t know why they keep changing to me it’s clear, billy nolan in the half back line and sob on the goal. Really thought with quealy being manager that would of been the plan this year

Plenty of rain the past few days, the pitch could also be heavy enough which will impact how teams play

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,424 ✭✭✭Mastermcgrath

Queally will know Nolan better than anyone having managed Roanmore so I guess you have to trust the judgement

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166 ✭✭Pudz2180

best of luck to the minors tonight up against cork who are meant to be pretty good. Win and they are in a Munster final lose and it could be winner take all vs Clare next week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 725 ✭✭✭Jjjjjjjjbarry

Look it's not the exact team I would have picked but it's close enough to it and some lads are just coming back from injury so probably why they're not starting. The structure is good at least. We don't know what's going in with niggles and who's flying it in training and all that. I'm happy enough the midfield issue is at least addressed and I wouldn't be surprised to see Kieran and Leavy swap although observing Queally's form, they probably won't. Time to just get on board and hope we get off to a fast start and rattle the onion bag! Hoping for good weather and an enjoyable day and no fighting on here come Sunday night!!
