He was another rumoured for sure. Distance surely a big factor for him though.

Unlikely wexford be still in the championship beyond June and ballygunner could win waterford with no manager so I'd say they'll be fine

    o

hope not l, wouldn’t have him near the county, another fellah who used GAA status to endorse a criminal, in that instance a vulnerable pensioner had their life savings cleaned out. Between Himself, Kiely and Kildimo (to name but a few) the GAA have a lot to answer for when it comes to exenorating their members from criminal behaviour. No doubt the son of a well known GAA manager in the news today will Have his back well covered too

With the split season plenty of lads are involved in 2 roles.

Sean Walsh didn't play with his college last night. I didn't think he moved very well last weekend so possibly needed a break and hopefully it's not more serious.

I wasn’t saying it’s not possible. More so starting off with a new (big) club, getting management team together, getting to know players.. all while still with Wexford. It’s a big undertaking.
Interesting to see who joins him in the role. I believe all of the previous management are gone, Darragh, Franks, Maher, Duggan, Shay Fitz.

Good to see Carthach Daly making his comeback tomorrow. Hopefully he gets through it, he’s a decent option in the backs or midfield if he can return to his level from a few years back. Paddy Leavey at wing back is interesting, I don’t see any obvious switch that would have him midfield so I’m guessing he will line out at wing back.

Agree on Daly, if he can get a good run at it he can be a top player, God knows we need the likes of him back.

I thought we’d see wholesale changes for Laois but Queally sticking with much the same players that weren’t good enough last week. I never remember a time where I felt a bit nervous going in to a game against Laois…. But that’s exactly where we’re at. Any kind of a win will do, and pray that we start to see more lads coming back again the following week.

We stumbled over Laois in the 2021 championship. As regards changes, the keeper and 4 of the back 6 have changed, that’s a significant enough statement. I think that clearly shows where he felt the issues were against Carlow.

It looks like Queally is going to persist with Kiely in the half back line which is interesting and controversial on here. I have to say that Kiely first caught my eye at centre back for the minors but would agree with most here that he’d be best placed at full forward. Shane Bennett might have been a more natural choice in the half back line as I feel we’ve never got the best out of him in the full forward line. At least he’s further out the field this time and will do a lot of work around the middle third.

The absence of Calum, Fagan combined with a fragile TDB has obviously prompted some radical thinking about what’s arguably the most important line. Let’s not forget that Darragh Lyons was moved to wing back last year again when his best position has always been midfield. Kiely did make one classic Aussie type run from half back the last day but the jury is very much out on this experiment and it’s only against Dublin will we even get a proper glimpse of its actual result. I do like Tom Barron and think he’s a fine free flowing hurler but not sure he has the dominant presence to grab control of a game. Mark Fitz is probably going to stay in the full back line. It’s been a problem area for 30 years and the modern game pulls everyone out leaving two exposed inside so we can’t go back to leaking goals like we used to.

Jack Prendergast must be one of the most played of our players over the last 5-6 years? He rarely gets the headlines but delivers time and time again. It’d be great to see Carthach put in a big game.

Best of luck to all on Sunday and I hope this place will be full of cheer and positivity come Sunday night!!

Footballers beaten 3-17 to 1-19 in Wicklow today. Serious improvement in second half having been 2-10 to 0-4 down at half time

Kiely will be a fine half back, because he’s a talented hurler .. but we are robbing Peter to pay Paul. Tom Barron has been on the panel a long time without making an impact. Hopefully can step up but can’t see a spot for him in a full strength team. A fit Prunty and Iarlaith Daly would release Mark Fitz to half back. A half back line of Mark Fitz, TDB and Kiely would be big, powerful and talented …

Sounds good if they can all stay fit. I’d worry about Daly and Prunty as they’re like glass but that’s a good HB line.

no disrespect to Laois but they are bottom of the barrel now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,589 ✭✭✭Mastermcgrath

They put 20 points on us all the same.

Much better performance today you can only beat what’s in front of you.. the work rate was there particularly the lads coming off the bench showing a lot of hunger... onwards and upwards

A lot better today. Jamie was exquisite. I wonder are we missing him more at midfield though? Padraig Fitz was good on the frees and if he sharpens his shooting from play should be left on the frees. Patrick Fitz excellent too and is just a natural finisher. Mark Fitz solid out, particularly second half and Shane Bennett was excellent at wing back but was in danger of a second yellow. The jury is out on Kiely. Ideally we need someone else to take the position off him. Overall nothing to get excited about but at least there’s something to build on for the next day. Good to see Dessie back.
