Also, just be aware, all scores will be subject to a "I LIKE SMASHMOUTH" tax.

    You've been warned! :)

Six rounds to go, so its early days.

Plenty of great tracks ahead and some much mental debate to continue in my head on how to score some songs.

Anything can happen in Beakers walrus.

I imagine Im getting a dud role in the Lost WW now

is there no walrus that will appreciate my love of cheesey generic pop???

well, you didn't submit cheesy pop in mine. Unless you call Joe Dolan cheesy pop :D:pac:

    Hey the beauty of Walrus.

I just never liked it. I love Shrek, but hearing the band over the soundtrack so much destroyed me.

    Ruining Im a Believer too.

That's the beauty of Walrus indeed.
If I would have to Walrus these songs, Smashmouth would have been top half and Radiohead close to the bottom.
Each to their own I guess.

I wouldn't be vindictive like that....

    Or would I :pac:

Nah it's not the first time I've finished last and surely won't be the last (pardon the pun), great thing about Walrus is how music is so subjective. One man's dislike for Smash Mouth is another's love etc etc.

What else would you call Joe Dolan?? :D
Yours was the first I entered so I attempted (and failed) to move outside my love for cheesy pop!

    Radiohead - Just, submitted by

Never been big into Radiohead, so not hopeful initially. Creep aside, any Radiohead track I heard just didn't work for me, such as Karma Police or No surprises.

But Im happy to say I bloody love this one. Its got energy, its got me nodding my head like a dog and I cant say much wrong about it from my first listen. Its got a strong replay factor and I love the song even more on repeated listens. . Its just so damn good and I'm pleasantly surprised.

The video…. Ahead of its time perhaps. Simple, but completely captivating. Suddenly you want to know whats happening just as much as the bystanders. Excellent. Very clever and very enjoyable.

    Top dog

Good stuff beaker. I'm not a Radiohead obsessive, though I think the tune is pretty great, but I love how they execute such a simple idea and turn into something completely absorbing.

The song for me is very familiar, it reminds me of another track I just can't put my finger on.

After my first listen I get “if Alanis Morrissette had a nu-metal band” vibes. It also has hints of Chester Benningtons “Why wont you die”, but thats not the track it reminds me of. Fake bonus point for helping me figure this track out.

But I ramble. I like the track. Its something i clearly missed out in my youth. The video suits and its very par for the course for when it was released, but does it improve the song….. I think not.

The track is a fine addition to my playlist. It brings me right back to Fibbers. (is that a good thing though?)

Is this the one you were thinking of?

AC/DC are one of my fav bands, again they are timeless. This track itself is a fine track, but suffers in comparison to other AC/DC tracks. But its got a good tune and my heads a bobbing. A good choice but nothing fantastic to drag it up the top.

Its not one of their most popular songs but its got a nice mellow vibe, very easy to listen to me. Its a simple song, but a very pleasant sound and Billys vocals are very much appreciated here. Its not a mind blowing track, and may suffer compared to others in this round but its a fine listen.

Ah I think this track is a guilty pleasure of mine, its easy to sing along to and its a lot of fun. Not a huge fan of the band overall, but this track is one I just cant help but enjoy. Its high energy and I never really skip it. A solid, fun tune.

Almost went for this one myself... Good shout!

I have a feeling I made a bad choice and my song will rank way lower... :(

Bagging 13th spot, with 7 points is...

Clipse - Dirty Money, submitted by

Have I listened to this artist before? No
Have I listened to this song before? No

Not familiar with Clipse, but I am with Pusha T.

Its a decent hook but nothing that really grabs me, but I am a fan of the vocals and rhymes. The whisper on the “dirty Money” brings me back to J-Kwon and Tispy.

Ultimately it's a decent track and I don't dislike it, but the songs fails to pull me back in for repeated listens.

Can't argue with any of that really. Love the track myself, I think there are probably better 'money' related ones for sure but had an absolute blank when trying to pick my entry here :pac:

One of the best intros IMO to any song. A great build up that kicks in with a supreme guitar riff.

Sadly I feel the song is downhill from here. The lyrics never did anything for me and its doesn't take advantage of the great tune behind them. The vocals are fine but, What could have been. Still an amazing intro and enjoyable tune overall.

Great tune and here's a Fun fact: Sting wangled a writer's credit on this song for the 'I want my MTV' background vocals.
I shudder to think how much money he has made over the years for singing just those four words.

Fun fact no 2: Knopfler got the lyrics from a conversation he overheard between two delivery men in an electronics shop in America.
MTV was on the display tellys and some famous pop star was singing. The Knopf asked for a pencil and paper and copied down what the workman said about the popstar and used it verbatim in the song.
Sting makes a fortune for four words yet the guy who wrote the song gets diddly squat!
