Hmm...social media mentalists now have their own category.

Oh sure, blame the lads. Typical.

Wasn’t that way in my school - adding the lads was a breath of fresh air!!

Well expect for the pretty ones who went from - in one case - acceptance into Cambridge to do chemical engineering into Sugar Kane whenever a lad was around!!!

I'm not blaming them at all! There was a lot of vying for male attention and getting male attention with girls who simply weren't used to it and amongst other things, the bitichiness started either as a way to get popular with the lads or out of jealousy. If we were all used to each other I dont think it would have happened at all.

They failed at reaching alpha, so now they are content celebrating being 2nd.When will all this nonsense end?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,569 ✭✭✭Cordell

Woke or not, alpha males are strong leaders, and masculinity requires to be able to care and provide for your female and cubs. Successful Silicon Valley tech guys are both masculine and alpha males.
Mark Zuckerberg is a very alpha male, like it or not.

The whole alpha male crap is pure marketing for self-help books, and management courses.

Utterly nuts that so many people fall for it. We are not primitives, nor are we animals consumed by our most basic needs.

It's amazing that alpha male is now considered, what some may call, toxic.

    **** off.

Alpha male is no different to being "qween" or whatever ****ing moniker they give to alpha woman

Proud of being a man is a negative. Proud of being a girl should be celebrated.

    **** off

Why would you be ‘proud’ to be a girl ? Or a guy for that matter ? It is something you just ARE... you don’t earn it, achieve it, you don’t make it happen... you ARE of one of two genders. I like being a guy but as far as being proud ? Erm.... I’m proud of certain achievements in life... I didn’t achieve being male...I just AM male.

Id value more the person saying...I’m proud to have a fridge freezer...at least you had to go do something to get a fridge freezer.... look at it, decide to get it, pay for it, transport it, plug it in, fill it...

Proud of certainly of achievements in life but ‘being’ male is what I am.

and even in "dominance" type social environments it varies all over the place.

Plus much of this alpha stuff came from research on wolves. Problem being this was all in captive wolves, where they threw a bunch of adolescent animals together and guess what they fought for dominance, or just for the craic. One of the original proponents of this later observed wolves in the wild and found it to be a complete nonsense. What he thought were "alphas" were simply the mammy and daddy of the pack, the "betas" their kids, who one day would go off and pair up and start their own family and be "alphas".

    .

The sad thing is the push to be "alpha" just provides ammo to the woke/feminist crowd, because many of the guys who buy into the Alpha viewpoint become overly aggressive, pushy, prone to bullying others (both physical and emotional) to "show" their dominance. It brings to the fore all the negatives that are associated with masculinity (or encouraged to be associated by feminist activists/journalists)

And the people they hold up as being Alpha? Are usually the top 0.5% of any population. The best of the best. Who are, for all intents and purposes, a different species entirely due to their skills in a particular area, and ability to focus.

he isnt in any traditional conventional sense , neither is Bill Gates , Michael o Leary is , as is Alan Sugar

you can be highly successful without being alpha

Yeah the whole "alpha" thing is totally misconstrued. There was one of David Attenborough documentaries following a pack of gorillas. The leader was successful due to his ability to have good alliances and had the support of the pack.
Some people use the term "alpha" as shorthand for domineering or aggressive and claim some sort of evolutionary perogative.

This alpha bull****. The pack is all that matters at the end of the day.

Not so much actually. Previous human species certainly seemed to be based on small interrelated family "packs", but we were different. Far more gregarious and willing to form larger and larger groups of interrelated and non related people. Tribal certainly packs not so much. And tribal requires a lot more nuanced and complex social behaviors.

If alpha males was actually a thing, any tosspot who described themselves as one, you could instantly dismiss as some wannabe wanker!

Some people are more charismatic than others, smarter, tougher, more aggressive, more ingenious or whatever. Some people are just motivated differently - Jeff Bezos for example wants to own the world, most people just couldn't be arsed. One mans "alpha" is another mans greedy.

Jeffrey Dahmer - smart, charismatic, competitive, decisive, ingenious - Is this what we're supposed to aspire to? Give me a fúcking break!

Do you look for more than looks in a relationship, or maybe you are just not horny? Then you identify as a 'demisexual'.
Dont let the fascists tell you otherwise.

The only time I've ever heard 'presenting' was doctors describing a symptom or a baboon showing her arse.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid has promotional material out and features Halle Bailey as Ariel. Some folks are making the point that Ariel is a white character with flame red hair but they’re been shut down as racists for opposing a POC getting cast.

And I bet if they did a live action of whatever the Disney film with the black princess was as cast Christina Hendricks, the Twitterverse would explode???

I think it’s like Lion King and Aladdin and a live action remake.

Nowt wrong with the lad! It's a stupid label, mind. Everything and everyone and every single facet of personality needs a label now.
