Bradley is a dose, but fair play to him.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 That was classic! The Brits are raging.

Nah. Can't stand another summer of USA, USA. I was hoping Tommy would have done it.

Not a fan of the chant but the tears from the commentators made it worthwhile.

    Went exactly as expected

Just look at that final leaderboard. Tommy can have no complaints. He did nothing today, threaded water and then capitulated at the end.

He was 3 shots worse than the next highest score, down to Matt Fitzpatrick.

Tommy will never win one, he's the new Monty.

Fair play to speaking to the media. Could have run and hide

It's an awful term but that tonight by Tommy summed up what a choke in golf is...did his caddy do a poor job coming down the stretch as well?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,605 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

I think Tommy will have to come from behind to win, like when he shot the 63 at Shinnecock (although he didn't win there either)

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Musicrules

It was practically handed to him. The others did very little until the end. All he needed was an even par round.

Just watched the 18th there….I mean lovely drive but lack of commitments on shot 2 and 3, wasn't the worst putt but giving Bradley the line was sickening. Shame, a damn shame

Yeah 3 poor shots in a row on 18 with a 1 shot lead isn't going to cut it. I'd love to know what club he hit for the approach given that he was probably aiming at the centre of the green. He changed his mind due to the wind. Bradley had the slight advantage of seeing the effect of the wind on Tommy's 2nd. Even so, he had a yardage and took dead aim with full commitment. Hopefully, his day will come soon.

Wathced the replay of his short put and you can see clearly i yhink the ball gets a nudge halfway to knock it off line. Think it was a good put, but for I don’t know, a stray grass that deviates it.

Thought KB put hardly moved at all maybe half an inch but def wasn’t a left edge put.

I always liked Bradley and he was always fidgety but it's gone ridiculous altogether now.

No more than Rory,he needs to seriously consider changing caddy…..several poor club selections on final 4 holes.

Just saw that since with a closeup replay in slomo. It definitely takes a bobble and changes path slightly. Possibly only a spike mark or small debris deflecting it. I retract my previous statement (slightly). He was very unlucky with that putt tbf. The approach and putt from the fringe did lack commitment unfortunately.

He changed his mind at the last second for most if not all of those decisions.

Would agree! Fleetwood at fault there, not the caddy. Nerves simply got the better of him.

We'll all remember the missed putt on 18 but any 71 holes where an avoidable mistake would also have done damage. Tiniest margins.

I remember watching Tommy and Scheffler in person at the Olympics final round. The deciding moment was cruel but also eye opening to what Scheffler can conjure. Scheffler was in the group ahead of Tommy.

On 17 they both tugged drives into left rough which was quite heavy. Long 480yd par 4. Scheffler 20 yards further down than Tommy. People making bogeys and doubles all day. Plenty of pars but few birdies. Scheffler had 160 and hit probably the best shot I've ever seen in person. Finished the club really high with a vicious scythe through the rough. Grass flying everywhere and I have no idea how he got so much height on the ball. Lands softly on the green and drains the uphill 17ft birdie.

Tommy had 180 in and hits the green but it releases to the back and just into the 1st cut. Flubs his admittedly tricky chip and it rolls well past the hole. Probably longer left than Scottie's birdie. Tommy 2 putts for bogey from here and that two shot swing gives the gold to Scheffler by 1.

Really felt for Tommy there but I was in awe of that piece of magic Scheffler was able to conjure.

My mate sent me a video later of Scheffler playing in the Open practice rounds. Could be from the previous year. He spent a big chunk of dedicated time purposely in heavy rough. Ploughing the ball out with really high hands. Exact mirror image of what happened in Paris. Made it even more impressive of a feat for me.

Tommy's a great player but I think he needs some luck or another gear to kick on. Surely his day will come.

As said it’s all down to fine margins. Just Tommy lost it on the 18th so makes it look like a big bottle job. Shane and many others has lost a few of his earlier in the round. Where they lose it does it make much difference? Lose it early just felt like they couldn’t handle it where Tommy just falling over the line but falls just at it.

I guess it's part of what makes golf exciting and cruel at times. When we watch football you rarely get that kind of drama. Save for penalties or injury time winners in the knockout stages. Mentally an incredibly demanding and draining sport.

Have you forgotten about 16? Changed club, left it short and made a mess of the hole when it should have been a par despite leaving it short.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 293 ✭✭joficeduns1

He was long on 16 no? The par 3, flew the green that left him with the tricky downhill chip.

The PGA Tour have added pace of play to the Course Stats section of the leaderboard. It would be more useful to look at individual or group times.
It also excludes the time spent waiting to tee off and to walk between holes. So the real total times could easily be 20-30 minutes higher.
