Craving day in galway. 16.7 produced and not a single KW given to Esb networks 😁

7.9kWh yesterday, best of the year so far.

Today looks like a turd though.

Wow - to use the expression above......."tomorrow looks like a turd". I'd have to check, but probably the worst forecast I've ever seen for Dublin.

Suspect a lot of 0.5Kwhr and below for "the first day of spring" if this forecast holds.

A case of short sharp bursts yesterday, did peak at 7.55kW so nearing max panel output. Hopefully see a bit of return for today to round out the month.

That's very high, 6kW inverter I assume, I know they can take a wee bit over but you'd want to check voltage of how many panels you have versus what the inverter can take, should you have a warranty claim on your inverter all those states are available to manufacturer

Thankfully still well within specs as it maxed at 448.2 and 447.2, max is 600v

I had one burst of sunshine yesterday but boy was it a goodie....today wont be anything special and I was hoping to beat the PVGIS-SARAH Estimate for the month but I will need to generate 25 kWh today...not going to happen😥

4.2 today, not too bad considering how cloudy it was most of the day.

Overall the last week has been poor enough, then again it's January🤷‍♂️

tipping along nicely today, especially looking back at the first three days of the month

Today is shaping up to be the best day of the year so far. So glad I changed by night time charging to only 80% yesterday.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,822 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

Yeah, not bad here either, Sun starting to clear the public trees out front so less Winter shading

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,444 ✭✭✭championc

I went for 90% since my 4 shed panels don't come into the frame until March or so. I'm at 98% - so noting into Eddi quite yet

Going to hit double digits today for the first time in 2022.

    8.9 currently.

The more this year goes on Im beginning to realise I need either a big ass battery or an EV....Im up at 18.5 kWh generated today at 16:00 and this is the start of Feb and I have exported most of it. The green line below is my ESB incomer and how much I'm drawing from it or giving back...

I was planning to get an EV over the next year or so but I might accelerate that decision considering with petrol prices at the moment I'm about €100 a week in petrol.

If you have any size of array the coming months really are going to show a load of export unless you have a battery or EV, actually having the EV was one of our driving forces behind installing the solar.

The way things are going I don't envisage us paying anything for fuel from the next few weeks onwards, granted our EV is probably plugged in 4 days a week so that is something to consider and when we travel north we can charge for free before heading home again.

We are in the first few days of February and we will probably hit the 25kWh total for today with 18-19kWh of that having gone to the zappi and eddi.

I also changed the water tank to a larger better insulated model to store more hot water. We primarily used a pumped electric shower but will be using the standard pumped bathroom shower now that we are generating enough to heat adequate water with the eddi.

Think of the 3 or 5 year total cost of running the ICE - so you're looking at about €15k over 3 years - while electricity, if totally charged at home even on night rate or an EV tariff, should deffo cost less than €500 per year I think.

So once a car loan is less than about €90 per week, you're up on what you pay out now

Best day so far even with a few dips and thankfully I plugged the car in this morning so very little going back.

13.3 today, very up and down until lunch time, them fairly sunny. kicking in around 8:30 until 16:30.

washes done and drier ran, had stove on so not much needed by the Eddi (had a look at it's stats earlier, surprising how much has gone into it over the last few weeks (10kwh+) all the same. bodes well for it keeping the water hot during the summer when we don't have the stove on, should save a good bit on oil.

almost 1kw sent to the grid. fine for now, the wheel goes backwards, but I got my notice from ESB networks about changing the meter the other day. Will kick that down the road as long as I can, and they can fook right off about a smart meter.

Definitely would love extra battery capacity for the excess, my battery already down to 75%, will probably be empty by 7pm. Can't justify the cost though.

Will see how the numbers run for the year and re-evaluate an EV for the next time we change a car.

What a day today...my highest ever daily production since install mid November and there were a few downpours during the day aswell with big black clouds otherwise it would be higher! Even got a a few Kw into the EV🙂 My previous highest was 7.9 but that because I had export to grid turned on and set to 0w which limted my production and I hadn't realised.

Consider a DIY battery build - 10kW for under €2k, and you'll easily get about €750 per Pylontech unit.

See the Solar Battery Options thread

Definitely worth considering and depending on what ev you are looking at it could be 6 months+ before you would take delivery if ordered now. I was delighted to pick up my first ev last week...I think ill be sending alot of excess to it from March on.🙂 I sent about 3kw to it today but that could have gone to my battery if I had charged it less then the 80% I set it to last night.

Had peaks between the hail showers of about 4.2kW today.. still only generated 7kwh!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,275 ✭✭✭irishchris

21.4 kwh produced today so definitely best day of the year so far ☀️ cracking day in Galway but next 6 days promised woeful

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,890 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

Wow, not often I beat you and we're fairly close to each other.

    I peaked at 3.7 and totalled 9.7kWh.

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators Posts: 7,017 Mod ✭✭✭✭graememk

Yeah, wasnt that pleasant to be out in today. Went from 4.2 to zero in about 2 minutes!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,890 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

Same here. Spells of heavy rain, skeet and even a bit of snow. 2 minutes later sun shining and hitting over 3kW.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,116 ✭✭✭paulbok

Will be lucky to get much more than 1kw today 😥
