Boar on the floor - Ken and Murph style

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 832 ✭✭✭cheese sandwich

Yeah, it’s the dynamic between them that makes it work.

Which I’m sure they all realise. I wonder what would happen if one of them decided they didn’t want to do it anymore

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,434 ✭✭✭Beersmith

They would be mad not to do it. Raking in a fine amount of money and still get to do other work on the side, presenting radio/tv, writing articles and guests on other pods

The original Football Show on OTB was just Eoin and Ken and I though it was a lot better. It being live and the interaction with the listeners helped. I've nothing against Murph, but he doesn't add a whole lot to the football podcast.

Yeah, although sometimes I get the impression that Ken in particular is bored with his own schtick

A couple of other podcasts I listen to stream live while having patreon members in a slack group who are able to comment while the podcast is being recorded. Rather than just people on YouTube being able to comment

Not really sure what today's contributor wants in relation to EU migration policy.

Is her proposal to just let everyone in from the continent of Africa who wants to come to Europe and house/feed them indefinitely as refugees? The only good point i thought she made was knowing exactly where the EU money was going in relation to Libya and these camps outside the EU borders.

This whole migration issue is only going to get worse with climate change and even more in the short term with the Russian issue. Very interesting times ahead.

This is all I can think each time Ken starts a politics pod with a random question for Murf 😂😂

    ”What are you proud of”?

”Have you ever won an award”?

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

Didn't she say a million times that she is a journalist and just highlighting the issues not a politician or policy maker?

Was wondering if the IRA singing would take the shine off today's episode but glad they didn't focus too much on it.

I wonder what Off The Ball's reaction to it will be

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,208 ✭✭✭jones

She did keep saying that...repeatedly... but she's also saying EU policy needs to change in relation to migration. It seems a bit pointless writing a book on this and not having anything to say about an alternative or what changes she'd like to see? She clearly doesn't want to come out and say the EU should have a more open borders approach but that's what she's advocating for from hearing the interview yesterday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,434 ✭✭✭Beersmith

Don't agree with your premise that investigative journalists should be giving opinions/solutions. What about Mark Tighe's book about John Delaney. His work uncovered a lot of corruption but no one went to him to ask how to fix things etc.

She seems to have travelled to these places and talked to people and says there is a massive problem and general EU citizens don't know the consequences of EU policy. I don't see why she should have to come up with solutions.

Fair enough, i suppose what i mean is her thinking on the subject was fairly clear but she wouldn't articulate it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,434 ✭✭✭Beersmith

Yeah i dont think it was the best interview and she was quite muddled. In fairness she also said she is a better writer than speaker.

Doesny fit the narrative that we are all supposed to love women's football now. No negativity allowed.

How do you feel about today's podcast? I only saw your post a few minutes ago and I thought that you were being sarcastic, until I saw it was from yesterday.

I don't think that I've ever written a negative post about their podcasts before. I skip over the sports that I don't like, so they don't bother me. But today was easily (in my mind) the most boring thing that I've listened to in ages. They need to know when to pull the plug on these discussions. Maybe it drove me more crazy than it normally would, as I was listening to it while was podding along on a jog, but Jesus Christ!

At least Ken went back to "education" and tied it up, but it was interminable. I could go on ranting about it, but I'll do what they should have done and keep this pretty basic story short.

Yeah, sick of hearing about it, glad it wasn't much of a thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,208 ✭✭✭jones

Yeah first half of the episode was shocking. Ken going through all the Irish songs... What's the bloody point. The night after weeks champions League and they spent 40 minutes talking shite. Second half was good though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,851 ✭✭✭Raoul

I enjoyed Ken talking shite. Sorry! But that's mainly what I pay. To hear Ken talk shite!

Champions League is usually pretty boring until the knockout stages anyway.

I really hope Ken goes to town on Sky's new crusade against referees giving free kicks for blatant fouls. He's always been against the Let it Flow thing so hopefully he brings that hatred back today.

It's a Monday so we will have ken bore us for 45 mins about Pep and klopp. Then we will have someone like Miguel come on and talk about the same thing Ken has just talked about. The Monday pods are normally the worst. Glad they're the free ones

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,803 ✭✭✭✭siblers

I love Ken but he comes out with some baffling stuff at times.

First saying that neutrals want City to destroy Liverpool (clearly not true) and then saying the reason why City fans were singing about Hillsborough is because of VAR decisions.

At least Eoin called him out on both to be fair.

Ken also seems to have a Ronaldo like obsession with criticising Nunez

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,892 ✭✭✭Brock Turnpike

I mean it's not hard to understand why he might be fascinated by Nunez

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,580 ✭✭✭The Davestator

I 100% agree that most Irish neutrals want LFC to lose. The reason for this is fairly simple, their fans are very annoying to listen to. There are barely any City fans in Ireland so when they win, nobody has to listen to their fans gloat.

Did anybody go to the live show with Roddy Collins and Paul Howard last night?

I see today's pod will feature their chat, wonder was there anything extra on the night itself, or just the same as the podcast?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,892 ✭✭✭Brock Turnpike

The bit at the end where they randomly let "Branno" ask a question was odd

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,250 ✭✭✭Billy Ocean

Its depends on your disposition, I support Man Utd myself but don't have childish gloating relationships with my mates( bit of a age thing in fairness), personally can't stand the middle east state owned model of Man City, PSG and Newcastle so there the teams I currently dislike.

Yeah, I'm guessing they opened up to questions, and - as so often happens - absolutely nobody raised a hand. So Branno either did to stop the awkward moment, or he was already set up as an emergency just in case option.
