Hi I’m about to buy a Skoda superb sportline
    190 bhp 2.0 DSG.
Year is 2017 theirs 100000 kms on the clock.
It has a full service from Skoda.
Skoda are also putting a 2 yer warranty on it.
Took it for a drive and all felt really good.
I’ll be averaging about 25000 kms a year.

Any thoughts on the reliability off these cars.
    Thanks.

I don't believe there's any major showstoppers with that engine gearbox combo and with a 2 year warranty you're setup!! Go for it. Beautiful car and a great spec. What colour? What are they asking for it? Wife has a Kodiaq and a superb tickles my fancy. Hopefully in a couple of years

Thanks for the reply it’s the combi in corrida red.
Have to say it’s stunning looking with the 19 inch vega alloys. Also has upgrade sound system really clean car inside and out.
    €24000

Nice car but pricey? Are you venturing into Audi A6/BMW 5 series pricing territory there?

Had also looked at A6 and needs to be estate the mileage was a lot higher.
And only a 3 month warranty.
    2015 Audi A6
    2.0 TDI 190PS Ultra …
    €23,000 - 111,794 m / 179,910 km, 2.0 Diesel

5 series where also coming in at €24000 for 2016 and 2015 models with higher mileage.

Super car and would be my choice if you are willing to sacrifice less space in the both than the Superb/A6 and 5 series touring.

Have a look in the uk would be my advice with that kind of money.

Fair enough, for same money you are going to have to drop back a few years, go to lower spec or increase mileage for the other 2. If you are happy with the skoda I'd say go for it, they are a nice car.

That Volvo is very nice indeed lil bit over budget!!
    Budget was originally €23000.
Also looked at the vrs that was manual.
The superb was much nicer to drive tho.

Make sure the dsg box has been serviced, they are due at 60000 km but most people don't and they can give problems if not serviced

That Volvo is v cheap, much cheaper than buying in UK and importing as VRT is high on them- that car has lost 30k off the new price in three years

I went from a Superb Sportline to a V90 and the Volvo is a much better car, higher quality, driving aids are great and comfort levels even higher. Okay maybe handing in the Sportline is tidier but not much in it.

The Skoda can suffer from squeaks and rattles - especially if it has a sunroof which drove me mad, but in general they are a great car and 24k is good value. That car would have been about double that price new. The two year Skoda warranty is great and worth a lot.

I’d much rather the Skoda over the old model A6 or 520d too unless they were v special spec’s cars. The A6 especially just isn’t as nice to be in or to drive and the dash / interior is quite old fashioned now

Skoda boot is bigger than everything bar E class estate, it has great rear legroom but overall it’s smaller than the V90 eg the seat base in the Volvo are more substantial and cabin is wider.

Not sure I read the comment right but the V90 is easily as spacious as either the 5 series or A6 and the back seat is designed for three passengers where as the BMW especially is v uncomfortable in the high middle back seat.

Don’t forget the Passat Estate, better spec than an equivalent Superb.

just found this vehicle on Carzone.ie

What do you mean? Ive been to the production line in Czech republic, very impressive and high level of quality control. Its built on the VW platform.

If a lot of Taxi drivers in Dublin use Skoda Octavia and Superb, says a lot.

Do you research online, forums etc.

Ive an Octavia, 2 year warranty also, no issues with it, great car and brand.

Have you a link to the Superb you are looking at? 100k , 3 yr old car, a little high for a diesel

    Okay KRAVMAGA.
Do I do research that’s exactly what I came on to the motor form here for.
    Also I’m on briskoda form.
U say most taxi drivers drive them they also drive TOYOTAS Which is the brand I’m getting away from right now.
The Toyota was brand new bought in 2018 reliability problems with it in the first year.
Wheel bearing went with in 15000 kms.
Also rubber seals around doors starting to come away from the frame.
Also no link for the car as i put a deposit on it dealer took it down.

Any way thanks for the input from the posters here.

Wasnt talking about looking in the uk for the V90 (which is good value) bu the skoda/A6/5 series where real value can be gotten compared to over here.

V90 is a different class altogether from the Skoda, but you do sacrifice space in the book compared to the A6, 5 series and Superb where they all have bigger boot capacity if that is part of the buying equation. V90 is more 3 series luggage capacity wise, but it makes up for it in spec, looks and passenager space which are all top notch.

Superb is a great all rounder but sometimes I see people losing sight of themselves with how good they are. I would take a passat estate over one personally

So I own the same car as the poster is looking to buy for 3 yrs, I have changed to the Passat Estate GTE.

    Comparing the two:
Superb has more boot space and much better pocket spaces in the boot and in general in the car. I really miss the 2 large pockets in the boot with the doors where I put things for the kids or just handy things to put away like screenwash, suncream, wipes etc. Now i have to put them in a separate box which takes up boot space.
The umbrellas in the doors, I know a very odd one!, but again they are out of the way and handy.
Centre pockets comparing the 2 are much too small in the passat.

The drive of the passat I find it not as rolly or feel the road as much, not sure if it was the suspension or the inch larger wheels but you'd feel a lot more of the bad roads and coming into corners the Superb doesn't hold as well.

DSG are pretty similar, though now I'm in the GTE then its a different drive, so can't do a proper compare.

A small annoyance is the passenger/driver mirror dip when reversing in the Passat doesn't dip down as much as the Superb.

Seats are more comfortable in the Passat.

Infotaiment system I am finding quite annoying in the Passat, but that cud be down to user error also, but a small thing like using Android auto, u have to go into 2 different menus to activate, in the Superb u just press the APP button on the dash. I also prefer the physical buttons for the sound control in the Superb.

Doors are much the same, both are heavy with a nice chunk close.

    Interior space is very similar.

    Keys are identical.

Just a quick compare on the 2.

    Hi yop.
Thanks for the comparison Passat GTE is a stunning car best off luck with it.

Picked the car up today delighted with it.
Warranty for 2 years covers everything except wear and tear like tyres and breaks.

Also covers DSG box ,car has full service all-ways done bang on time
Previous owner traded it for another brand new one.

Canton sound system in it is really nice.
I’ve been driving a TOYOTA RAV4 hybrid the last 2 years.
The DSG is much nicer then the CVT in the Toyota none off the drone
When u put the foot down.
And the room in the boot is massive.
    Thanks for the input guys.

    560 versus 565 litres v90 to A6.

No idea where 3 series comes into play...

@YOP you can adjust how much or little the mirror dips when you’re in reverse on the Passat, just have the mirror on L, put in in reverse, leave it drop and then adjust it to where you want to.

Also the last of buttons on the Passat is the newer upgraded radio, which would be the same if you bought a new Superb.

Best of luck wit the GTE they’re a cracker

Frank hogans Limerick website look for the car
Scroll down from the ad and u will see the price

    Works price=€22900
    Deposit. =€4580

    Monthly. =€402.90.

I think your calculator is broken.

    It’s 22900 less a deposit borrowing 18000, not 22900 plus the deposit.

I was thinking of a German estate, maybe e220d but reading on here, it seems parts and servicing can be very expensive.

Would it be more prudent to go for the Superb in SE trim, cheaper to maintain?

If you’re talking UK specs try get the SEL at least. Shouldn’t cost a massive amount more. Again to be biased, look up Passat estates. They’re the same car with generally a higher spec and a cheaper price tax.

Varying options and depending on the year, the GT is usually the equivalent. If you’re going fairly fresh ie 2019 onwards an SE would be decent as well
