Far Cry 6 has been revealed a little earlier than planned via a PlayStation Store leak, which has listed it for launch on 18th February 2021.

PlayStation 4 copies of the game will upgrade for free if you play on PlayStation 5 - which will almost certainly be the same for Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

"Largest Far Cry playground to date". Bigger isn't always better.

Just Cause 3 and 4 would be good examples. Found map in 4 too big

Looking forward to it. Usually I get a bit anxious when Ubisoft brag about big maps but in the case of far Cry 5 and New Dawn the way those maps encouraged exploration made it feel less like a chore. Really enjoyed those games. Looking forward to that style in a tropical setting.

I'm so over big maps as a selling point especially when 98% of it is grass and hills.

    1. Bigger Harder outposts and the abilty to reset them (ala Far Cry 5.5)
    2. Throwing knife back plz
    3. Better Coop options with no tether.
    4. Bigger selection of weapons
    5. Less stupid races more secret stash puzzle things

I am sure there is more but those 1st :)

Unless it's a massive departure and change to the series, I don't think I'll be interested. They've been remaking Far Cry 3 for a good four or five games now.

I loved in far cry 5 at the start of the game how they trolled us into thinking there was gonna be towers :D.

It's crazy how something as simple as removing towers can change the entire way you go about the world. Now everything feels like a discovery as opposed to a checklist. I hope they improve the companion A.I. and town down the enemy spawning.

This whole series needs a long break followed by a revamp.

    Churning it out like FIFA

Yeah, it definitely needs a change up. I know people enjoyed 5 and New Dawn, but I couldn't finish 5 as it was too much like 4, which was too much like 3, which was amazing. Characters definitely left those 2 down also, didn't have the same threat or feel of 3.

Still waiting on a full version of Blood Dragon though.

    alright, nothing groundbreaking about it.

Every Ubisoft game from the last decade, basically :p

I really want to this to be good, solid cast and the series has always had brilliantly complex and developed characters. The formula is definitely what lets it down though, Far Cry 5 was a tiny bit of a change up but it still felt along the same thing. Was disappointing as I really liked the Joseph Seed character but the means to progress felt too much like a chore imo.

The best thing they have made for me in the last 10 years was Grow Up. Loved it and they should be encouraging more of that kind of stuff from with in. It's hard to be excited for FC6 and I know they made changes to the AC series but really I look at both now and think I'd rather they just did something else instead of trying to drag 10+ year old franchises into 2020 and beyond. Even Watchdogs reeks of stale Ubi, They are not they only ones guilty of it and looking at whats been announced or expected to be announced for next gen it's massive dollop of more of the same.

Wow, they're really gonna use a disabled dog as a preorder bonus the evil bastards! Chorizo looks like a good doggo!

Disc launcher completely recycled from new dawn. Looking forward to seeing some gameplay footage.

    Overview of the game
    About

In Far Cry 6, players are immersed in the adrenaline-filled, chaotic world of a modern-day guerrilla revolution. Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Become a guerrilla fighter and burn their regime to the ground.

    Far Cry 6

As Dani Rojas (playable as a female or male character), you will help stoke the fires of revolution through guerrilla warfare across the island of Yara, from verdant jungles to the urban streets of the capital city, Esperanza. You’ll use a powerful array of weapons and vehicles, and build a network of allies to fight alongside you, including Fangs for Hire like Chorizo, the dangerously distracting wiener dog. As President Castillo prepares his son Diego, played by Anthony Gonzalez (“Coco”), to succeed him, you will do all you can to ensure his plans don’t come to fruition.

    Key Features
    • Ignite the Fight for Freedom – Dive into a blockbuster experience as Dani Rojas, a local Yaran defending their country from a tyrant’s rule. Join the revolution to push back against the oppressive regime of dictator Anton Castillo and his teenage son Diego, brought to life by Hollywood stars Giancarlo Esposito (The Mandalorian, Breaking Bad) and Anthony Gonzalez (Coco).
    • Yara Torn Apart – For the first time in Far Cry, experience a sprawling capital city: Esperanza, the most expansive Far Cry playground to date. Take down Anton in the seat of his power by staying hidden or engaging Anton’s army in an all-out firefight in the streets. From taking the reins of a horse to commandeering a tank, choose your favorite ride to fight against the regime or to just travel Yara in style.
    • Become a Guerrilla – Jump into the action and chaos of guerrilla combat at the heart of a revolution. Employ an arsenal of unique and surprising new weapons, vehicles, and animal companions in a fight against an unyielding military regime. No guerrilla should go it alone, so pair up with an all-new animal companion like Chorizo, the adorable wiener dog who’s as cute as he is lethal.

I'm really holding out hope but after seeing assassin's creed and watchdogs, it looks like Ubi are happy to keep the same ol formula rolling into next gen.

Apart from the brow scar everything is different: different nose shape, different mouth/lips shape.
Also, the scar is missing from in game cutscenes.
Also, not consistent with the backstory.

But that will not stop them to retcon it into being true if they really want to :)

As for the generic Far Cry formula, I'm ok with it, it's what should be expected from a Far Cry game, right? Same basic formula, some incremental changes, but all that matters is how the game ends up, story, gameplay, all this is what matters.

I don't think he is Vaas as it looks to be set in present day. It looks like this will be different as there will be an actual city in the map, not just open countryside like previous games.
And it looks like the weapons will be completely craftable, would love if they brought in something like Gunsmith where you can upgrade the weapons with different components.

I think we will get both, a city and rural areas, but the focus will be the urban location:

For the first time in Far Cry, experience a sprawling capital city: Esperanza, the most expansive Far Cry playground to date. Can't wait.

Yeah definitely hope the focus is on the city. Would love if they added a parkour system like in Dying Light

I dunno, I just cannot generate a modicum of enthusiasm for this. I loved 3, finished 4, and gave up on 5 after about 10 to 12 hours as it was just more of the same, traipsing around the countryside, getting attacked by wildlife, killing 20 badgers to upgrade my wallet, fighting the dumb as rocks AI. The companions took away from the game IMO as they were more of a hindrance than a help. The island setting of 3 was great, because it felt tight and more self contained than what follows. and so far, this looks like it hasn't moved on either.

Really excited for this but worried as Ubisoft has really struggled under the strain of the pandemic which is why all of their games lately have been uncharacteristically buggy (yes, I know some people will disagree with 'uncharacteristically' but Ubisoft games tends to be fine at launch for me).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,307 ✭✭✭The Phantom Pain

It's been leaked but I won't post it here. I wouldn't recommend watching it it. Graphics are gorgeous but it's in low res.

Cut scenes are now in third person which is a nice change. Gameplay still in first person.
Weapons look exactly the same from Far Cry New Dawn.
The female protagonist looks really cool and unique. The male one looks like a generic skin forced on to the creators by the suits because w£mEn d0nT sElL.

Yep but I believe it's an
alligator judging by how wide the jaw is
but I get them mixed up all the time!

From rewatching the gameplay again it looks like the
    disabled dog
has the ability to distract enemies with the power of cuteness lol
