Just wondering has the bakery in anyones Lidl reverted back to selling individual items? I used to always pick up something as a treat but not since they are selling them in multiples of 4

It has,but only in one of the regions (they have 4 of them). That includes stores in Galway,Limerick, Killarney,Cork, and all others in that side of the country.

But it won’t take long to re-introduce it in rest of the stores. I would guess it’s matter of couple of weeks/up to month.

I think they're new to the freebie repertoire alright. Probably near the jellies and chewy sweets? My local used to put the freebies all together near the till but stopped and it was very handy.

Wicklow have had them bagged, but not sealed recently, but that could just be they're out of tape!

I picked up some pains au chocolat this morning, they were in bags of 3 but there was an individual price on the shelf.

I said right back at the start of covid that we'd know we were on our way out of the pandemic when we could once more buy a croissant that had been pre-mangled by some sticky-pawed toddler.

yeah it was a pain au chocolat that I used to always get each visit as a treat but then when covid came and they only sold them in bulk I stopped. Had hoped they would go back to individual items but its not looking like it, their bakery revenues are likely well up by only selling in bulk so it remains that way.

I'd prefer if they went back to individual items. Can't grab a single treat for the days I'm in the office or even buy a roll for lunch. Wouldn't eat 4 of them in a day here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,764 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

yeah thats my problem, wouldnt get through 3/4 items by the next day so havent bought from the bakery since covid came along. Hoping they go back to individual items but its not looking like it at this point.

you know you work in the right place if office days are less than bundled pastries 😁 [ any surplus, could be shared with the office folks ]

last year they used to have 'buy 4 for items for a discounted price' : every bag had 3 items .

offtopic : did anyone managed to get some software to scan, sort data and calculate spending on monthly basis?( we try to keep track of expenses , to see where's the black hole that takes all our money )

le: someone said they get an app message with monthly spending, but i don't

that makes sense with the new EU law, good to know too, i didnt think of that.

they had the hard sweets once or twice before, they're definitely rarer than the chocolate as a freebie.

Those protein bars have gone up to €3.79 from €3.49.

Lidl seem to be sticking it out better than some.

The main one I've noticed is 2L bottles of water. SuperValu have gone from 45 to 49 to 55c per bottle in the last month. Lidl are still 45c.

If Russia/Ukraine is the cause of that SuperValu better get new labels for their bottles.

Just a pity nobody told the leaflet people before they put the "old" price of €3.49 on it.

Mind you makes it an bigger discount now, €3.79 down to €2.49.

I have not got scratch card fr last 2 visits to Lidl. Both transactions would qualify normally for a scratch card. Also my wife did not get one for a transaction on Sunday. All transactions were in Lidls new store in Portlaoise, unsure if that is the cause.

Receipt and scratch card appeared on app this morning. Must be a glitch in the system.

Are the Parkrun codes likely to run year around or did they say it is a limited promotion for a few months?

Its been great, I got the cashew nuts for free yesterday which was good timing as I had ran out and normally get them in Aldi 2.69
