With social distancing it'll last longer?

    Was that a typo?

I suppose you could say if things went on as usual then everyone would have it within a couple of years, as opposed to ‘flattening the curve’

In reality who knows anything about the future

Colds and flu don't die off
but they should be better able to treat it.
It would be better if someone discovered a cure rather than a vaccine . About a trillion dollars has been spent on vaccine research already
Hopefully it will become less deadly in a few years

Yes maybe in the future, there will be a 'cough bottle' for covid, other corona/viruses where probably as devastating to the human population when the first appeared and eventually the human immune system adapted or we found treatments like the 'cough bottle'. Our immune system didn't come from nowhere and is constantly evolving. The question is how long will it take?

I don't think the world can maintain social distancing and especially closed borders beyond 2-3 years tbh

For example: Bali's GDP is decimated without Tourism. Last I checked, they're closed to the world
