I find the amount of pandering and meetings going on are a direct correlation to how **** your career is going. Not necessarily a reflection on oneself, moreso a reflection of the cluelessness or lack of tact of your colleagues. The sharper and to the point meetings are the better the company imho.

I'm a speech and language therapist. Not working for the HSE. I'm only on €35k...was made redundant in my last job (long story!) but was on €38k there so I have had to take a drop. I had no choice, it was either this or not be employed at all and I need to continue developing my clinical skills. The clinic I work for is amazing though. It is a pity that as a profession we are not more valued. We do work which is specialised and in very high demand, and intense too. The salary does not reflect this.

Honestly terrible. The fact that yourself and clinical psychologists etc and counselors don’t get paid more is nothing short of a disgrace. There’s graduates step into roles on more money than that

Wow some of the salaries listed on here! Are they after tax? I'd honestly like to hear from more people who aren't in finance, accounting, construction or IT but I'd say they are all intimidated reading this.

Pre tax i'd imagine but don't believe everything you read on the Internet, all these threads end up the same. If boards.ie was representative of society the country would be a much better place for everyone.

One thing that is true though is salaries for finance, IT etc are completely OTT compared to people who work in the likes of heathcare or even childcare given the responsibility those workers have and that's coming from someone who works in one of those much better paid sectors.

Problem is finance and IT roles generate revenue whereas healthcare, childcare and firefighters etc don't.
