I will kick this off I will not be taken it end of story and I will not be answering to ANYBODY my body my choice.

How many so called PRO CHOICE yes voters will be screaming at people to take their vaccine.

Bill Gates in behind funding seven of these things in development I would not trust that creepy ******* as far as I would throw him.

Funny his own children don't get the jabs.

I will not be responding to insults or name calling I will again state.

    My body my choice.

I would be interested in reading how others stand on this.:)

Plain and simple...yes I'd support mandatory vaccination against this virus.

I'll not give reasons, as you don't seem to want discussion and have your mind clearly made up. I'd prohibit international travel for non vaccinated people and perhaps limit their access to certain jobs.

What is the point in discussing something to which I will have no choice in?

Anyone promoting mandatory vaccination is an abhorrent excuse for a human being.

Anyone who tries to vaccinate me against my will will be met with any degree of force necessary to prevent them.

Do you agree with mandatory vaccinations?

    No

But if it were up to me you'd better prepare to spend an awfully long time in solitary confinement.

Totally agree anybody who tries to force a needle into me I can not say what I will do as I do not wish to be banned here.

But I will view this as an attack on my life and soul.

    It shouldn't be mandatory.

But it makes fecking sense to go get one, I'd try anything to make sure I didn't get this virus.

    Well except drinking bleach.

I think it's impossible to enforce mandatory vaccinations, but anyone who refuses to get one should be banned from public transport and their children banned from schools and creches indefinitely. Your body, your choice, fair enough. But my body chooses not to be exposed to something that has a higher chance of killing me than most people due to a medical condition.

It shouldn’t be mandatory but if you don’t get it you shouldn’t be entitled to any state aid/social welfare or be general population.

Are those TB asylums still going?

Might be worth to put a big gold star on those that dont take the vaccine, just so it's easy to spot them

Fine not compulsory as long unvaccinated children aren't allowed attend school, unvaccinated adults are excluded from certain jobs and unvaccinated people have severe travel restrictions imposed on then. Apart from that do what you want.

The irony in all this is that none of them have the first clue about vaccine research, testing, manufacturing etc etc etc

How can you ban non immunised people from public transport? Will you have to prove you're vaccinated in order to be issued with a Leap card? It's impossible to ban someone from public transport completely.

As for schools do you think children should be denied an education because of their parents decision. Also if vaccines are so effective why would should a vaccinated person have anything to fear from a non vaccinated person?

How do you feel about kids dying from measles because their parents are idiots?

I suppose it’s each to their own. I have an acquaintance who doesn’t believe in vaccines. We’re on a group chat together. I’ve asked her twice if she will get herself and her kids vaccinated when we get one for Covid-19......I’m still awaiting a response....not sure I’ll ever know

Good thinking. Just make it a five-pointed star so it can't cause confusion with a group of people who historically were marked with stars because they were suffering real p[ersecution through no fault of their own.

It's not about protecting the vaccinated kids, it's about protecting those who cannot be vaccinated. Someone who for no legitimate reason doesn't get vaccinated puts those who cannot be at risk.

Maybe then they should come up with vaccines that are safe for all to get.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,984 ✭✭✭✭kippy

There are certain vaccinations that should be mandatory - planet wide - once they have passed a rigorous testing and verification process (as the vast majority of the vaccines that currently exist have)
If you've not had these vaccines you should not be allowed travel, have kids or work in any job that requires you to regularly come into contact with immuneo-compromised people.

Why should you be entitled to make use of the services of the state, health care, education, public transport, employment, entertainment... etc... If for no logical reason you don't participate in a simple and safe vaccination program which serves to protect your health and the health of those around you?

If you don't get vaccinated through choice then what gives you the right to share the rest of the resources of the community. You become a threat to the community by not being vaccinated.

    Stay at home then?

Why should I be the one to stay at home? If someone refuses to partake in something that is of benefit to the general population then they are the ones who should stay home. They can't make a decision like that and not expect consequences for themselves.

Whataboutery - the phrase that's used when you don't have an argument to the fact that. Idiots are causing kids to die from something that was nearly eradicated.

What is it with fu*king idiots and the need or want to see people die unnecessarily, your posts in the main covid threads reek of it. Are your lives that fu*king pathetic that ye just want to take everyone down with ye?

But society does have the right to insist on certain behaviour of the people who wish to be part of that society. If you don't want to be vaccinated for something that is proven safe and effective then you are free to leave and find your own island to live on.

A tad over-simplistic but yes a very effective visual. I loved the top comment:

"My grandfather was vaccinated with several vaccines. Because of this he's started wrinkling and getting grey hairs. Because of vaccines he's becoming an old man instead of dying at the ripe old age of 5. Vaccines causing aging, please be aware of the dangers."

Selfish **** is my experience of them. Always ramming their beliefs down everyones throats also. I mean **** off. No one wants to listen to your ****e.

Well those would be the people who wouldn't be vaccinated, and your choosing not to vaccinate yourself is what puts them at risk.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,586 ✭✭✭4068ac1elhodqr

To be clear, 'mandatory' isn't enforced, that's 'compulsary' (subtle difference).

You could well refuse a mandatory vaccine (on various grounds e.g. health concerns, religion, pro-choice and so on) however... you'd be refused access to so many services, products and travel access.
So you see it could be framed and marketeded as 'optional manditory' (i.e. highly recommended).
    - but you'd have such a hard time doing anything, that it may as well be considered the very same as held down, 'compulsary & enforced'.
It would be presented as a 'push', a very, very big push - if it ever comes to that stage (likely not?).

But, the big issue currently is around immunity, the WHO says this does not exist in any meaningful way.
If no one can be assumed immune to this strain of COVID, and any future subtle strains of it, ...it's jab time.

Seems that it's good that people around them have been vaccinated with the correct strain then, so they are still protected despite receiving the wrong version of the vaccine.

Try reading the article next time to see if it actually says what you think it does.
