I'd be a great mod in forums that had no visitors.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

I'd try to be rational and coherent, debating with posters as to the merits of them using bad language, resorting to lazy stereotypes and hurling abuse at fellow Boardsies.

Failing that I would engage my darker side, losing my faith in humanity and throwing my toys out of the proverbial pram, dismayed at the inability of the vast majority of people with an internet connection to engage in anything remotely resembling rational debate. *

*any similarity to any events that may have occurred on this website are purely coincidental.

I'd be very careful about which forum I was allowed to moderate. Some are full of genuine idiots and cretins while others are much more civilised, populated with people who are helpful thus requiring only a gentle nudge not multiple ban hammerings.

Would you be a mod on the soccer forum. Say just after Liverpool lost 3-0 to RM in a champions league final?
It would be hard for any mod to restrain themselves :)
    I wonder did he re-reg ?

I would be a sneaky mod and just delete posts by certain types in certain threads
    No warnings,no PMs
Just go back and delete posts

I’d be a bipolar mod, let everyone away with everything, then suddenly get the axe out and start choppin heads.

The best forums by far are pretty much unmodreated. They basically self moderate with minimal intervention from actual mods.

As a matter if interest, how does someone even become a Mod on boards?

You are not allowed ask or express any interest whatsoever. Even if forums are having difficulty in finding a mod that doesn't matter. It's best to maintain an air of nonchalance while posting in a consistently inoffensive manner.

An authoritarian power tripper banning and infarcting anyone who disagreed with me.

Oh wait, that's just being a regular normal mod

I was once described as "The Maradona of modding" back when I was a mod.

(nobody actually said it, but I said it to myself like)

I’d be brilliant for the users Wouldn’t play favourites or give people the runaround. So I’d be sacked in the first week.

It's kinda like someone put your name in the hat. And there are no other names in the hat.

Have any Moderators ever gone rogue?

I was around at the time under a different name but didn't Terry go off the walls?

I would ban quick and ban often. Ask no questions and seek no explanations.
Fck fairness....no time to that. Leave that to more level headed mods.

I'd start out full of enthusiasm for the position, throwing cards around like snuff at a wake, but it wouldn't be long before I discover that playing by the book doesn't get you anywhere in this game. I'd gradually become more and more embittered, watching less competent mods getting promoted to CMod and Admin while I'm languishing at the bottom of the pile, doing all the donkey work. And that's when I'd start going off the rails, hitting the drink a bit heavy, banning people who I don't like, accepting cash in return for retracting cards and bans.

All I know is it wouldn't end well.

Fair play. Gifs are the very best thing about the internet.
I used to like Vines too. Can't understand why they stopped.

I like the step in if I have to approach.

Don't think I have much of an interest being a ban hammer wielding power tripper...

I'm reminded of the last Western, Unforgiven:

    The Schofield Kid:
Yeah, well, Uncle Pete says you was the meanest goddamn son-of-a-bitch alive, and if I ever wanted a partner for a killin', you were the worst one. Meaning the best, on account as your's as cold as the snow and you don't have no weak nerve nor ear.

Me neither. I'd introduce a new rule that every user will have to have accrued at least 1000 thanks before they can make a post.
