And the most galling part is when Covid eventually subsides, the aforementioned issue will continue and no attempt will be made to deal with them.

Yep, and the many people who have been using the mental health crisis, which existed in this country long before they started using it as their reason for criticising every decision made by the government and the HSE, will forget about it again.

I have a cousin in Cartamundi who tells me there are five confirmed cases in there and 15 people waiting on test results. Carpooling caused the spread they seem to think.

Confirmed case in St Ursula's primary school. No indication of what class or year even. Apparently there are "no close contacts" which in a school environment would represent something close to a miracle. Source: direct message from the school/HSE.

Could that be the 15 that were waiting on results?

Would have happened over the mid term break then I expect.

In fairness that piece of information,if true would have involved an extra line or two of text and put a lot of parents minds at ease rather than the current cloak and dagger approach by our state toward public health in the school system.

Sunday 25th got tested & positive result the next day. Doesn't make sense, she already could have had it while in school that week

I couldn't understand why they allowed schools to reopen.

This was going to happen and how many further cases will/might develop from this child?

All the propaganda stating that it was safe to send children back to school was just poor!

It's the Donald Trump approach: If you don't test in schools, you won't find cases in schools. Simples.

It was for economic reasons, the economy is far more important than kids!

The economy is far more Important than Protecting kids from something that they don’t need protection from!!

If school related cases spread amongst adults then it’s a different story.

The pubs and house parties would get even more blame

And deservedly so. If during a pandemic, a decision is made that education is of critical importance and can continue to take place only if guidance is strictly adhered to. And some parents and/or relative s of school age children decide their social life is of greater importance and continue to attend houseparties/ pubs and further risk spreading the virus then this is and will continue to be repulsive , selfish behaviour.

There is a LOT more transparency required with regard to how the HSE and DOE deal with and report cases in schools. In no way, shape or form does this translate into any argument in favour of reopening pubs tbh.

Yeah because house parties & Irish indoor bbqs had nothing to do with the rise in cases

Do we have it more or less under control here in our Déise utopia?

It oddly enough looks (by the reported daily cases) to be coming under control in the state in general. Am pleasantly surprised tbh how fast the numbers seem to be dropping.

I wouldn't judge yet. I doubt it's a coincidence that schools were off for a week and numbers dropped.
