Have thought about it before but never tried it.

Would love one of the really low mag scopes with huge eye relief that you see on some of the AR type firearms. The 1-6 type with illuminated reticles are cool, they look like dots at 1x but are actually pretty detailed/useful at 6x

Hi I use Zeiss red dot on my rifle for foxes at decent distances and I have taken deer out to 100 yards no problem shot a few rabbits at night before hand to get practice in

What is a decent distance ? I would imagine that target acquisition would be very quick.

Is there any problem with parallax.

Would they have a fixed parallax?

Interesting and largely unused concept here. Might be worthwhile looking into it.

As you will only have the real size target, i.e. no zoom available, then your target will be small for aiming.

They come in handy for moving targets like boar hunting, a near big target to aim at and give a lead before shooting.

I have used a delta red dot on top of my low light scope mounted forward of my turrets on a picatinny mount. If I’ve no luck in early morning stalk, often use this on a woodland stalk after. Typically at ranges where using a 2.3 or higher mag makes target acquisition impossible. Less than 50m. Thought of it out frustration at seeing a dozen animals rise in front of me less than 20ft and not being able to acquire them in my scope.

These guys talk about it above.

And some interesting stuff here, search for his follow up vids with the secondry sight mounted.

I had a better MOA Dot at range comparison but I recently cleaned shop and lost it.

What would it be like on foxs out to 120 yrs under a light.

Don't forget the cheap'o red dot from Ebay. If these can handle the recoil from a slug shotgun then they can't be all bad. :):)

That's not the correct aiming point for wild pigs btw!

I believe that graphic and similar ones for coyote and fox are for various MOA red dot size comparison at ranges and on various species.

Interesting tips here - "Roy goes to school with aim point.'

By the way, why do you not think its the right point of aim for a wild boar?

    Way too high.
Vitals on a boar are lower down.

I'm not that experienced on Wild Boar, but what I have been told, seen and done was a shot anywhere level between the eye and behind the shoulder is a good shot.

My biggest problem wasn't knocking them, it was connecting with them!
