If we listened to colm Mccarthy we would get nothing done in this country. Im about to get fast broadband after years and years of cramp.

The whole point of Johns article was that we're not building because of beaurocratic red-tape and vested interests. Now we have a world-class fibre network to nearly every house in the country and McCarthy is raising the issue of cost again.

How many bad new stories have come from the NBP since the early days of Covid-Induced delays? Has the rollout been a fiasco in terms of the network being flaky or installs being problematic? I suspect Collison might hold up the NBP as a case where we did actually build by politicians just pushing it through force of will.

I don't care what twats like McCarthy say. Fibre was the only real long-term solution. You can argue about the costs sure, but it had to be done. If that attitude prevailed in the 1960s and 70s, some rural areas still wouldn't be electrified!

You need to remember that McCarthy is usually wrong on everything. He's introduced as an economist when he's actually basically a bad libertarian politician. DART was going to be a failure, Luas was going to be a failure etc etc.

Got connected today. The house is happy out now. 4 people all doing their thing and not a buffering in sight.
