New update for PS5 just installed.

Still loads of bugs. I'm just into the fishing village and can't interact with a main story quest item. Very frustrating.

I started it a few nights ago but I know it's not something I'm capable of focusing on at the minute so I quit after about half an hour. Will definitely go back to it though.

If those are your options I would go Switch.
It's not a game that needs to be played on the big screen. I'm playing on Stadia and have only played it on my phone so far. It's a great mobile game.

Finished this last night. What a fantastic game!

Just started yesterday. I have died quite a lot so far and I've only just met the Union Boss...it took me a while to realise there was a Health \ Morale button, I kept looking for meds in my inventory.

I finished this over the weekend, my Lt. DuBois gave up the booze and solved the case with a fairly good ending. Replaying it now with the total opposite choices, now he's a communist prophet of doom on a downward spiral. This game is fantastic.

There seems to be a lot Skills to choose from, are there any that you think are a must for all playstyles? I seem to be just upgrading whenever I need to pass a certain check point in the story.

Play the way you want to play: it’s not a game to be min-maxxed as it’s much more fun to just shape your character into an unholy ideological mess. Choose skills etc based on the stuff you want to do or see.

The only thing worth saying is there’s a late game
Shivers check that you need to pass
so worth popping a few points in there as you go.

Thank you, good to know that you don't have to min\max anything. I'm pretty sure I'm already an unholy ideological mess based on some of my conversations - the only thing I am sure about is that I see me having multiple playthroughs of this :)

Is this game more suited to a handheld ye think ? I want play it on ps5 but keep putting it off because I think might be more suited to switch when or comes out on it ?

The gameplay mainly involves reading, so I could see how it could be handy on the switch. On the ps5 though the text size is quite small (when you're sitting on the couch anyways) so hopefully they make the text size bigger for the small screens.

A good Switch port will entirely hinge on whether the text size is adjusted for Handheld mode - or indeed, can be customised/tuned to suit the reader's preferences. If it's just a port that assumes Docked Mode then I reckon it'll be barely legible on Handheld, and not worth purchasing. Hopefully the devs factor this in; I've played enough games to know HAndheld isn't always factored during development.

if they could sort it for even smaller phone screens for stadia I can't see how it would be ignored in the case of the switch

As a slow-paced and text heavy game, it sounds like Disco Elysium is perfect to bring to mobile phones or tablets via the cloud streaming capabilities of Stadia. There will also be text scaling options, so you won’t have to worry about the writing being too small for phone screens.

    report from user above
Excellent. Just picked it up after reading this. Using Stadia, looks good and clear for reading.

Brilliant game. Still on my first day but really enjoying it. Starting to get used to the skill points/systems. Some of the stuff the brain chimes in with is brilliant

Any news on an Xbox/switch release?

Summer 2021 was mentioned back in December but nothing since.

Been playing this over the last week or so. I'm almost always completely lost but it's so bizarre and intriguing.

Is there a worse character than that ginger cùnt, Cuno, in all of gaming? I doubt it.

So going by the chatter today the lead creatives of the game have been ousted as ZA/UM as a studio has become more commercialised. I mean, Amazon is an incredibly strange pick for a Disco Elysium tv adaptation…

Disco Elysium is one of the great political, anti-capitalist video games so the apparent fate of the studio is particularly depressing.

Yeah but it's a trend, weirdly? The Boys, that Fallout adaptation, this, I'm sure I've forgotten others... they all have strong anti-capitalist sentiments. Maybe it's a way to normalise Amazon's heft? Picking Sci-Fi and extreme properties - so crazy? You'd never get rampant capitalism in the real world, oh no.

Amazon are also doing a Bladerunner tv show.

Corps love their cyberpunk I guess.
