Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Assault on Precinct 13. Can't stand A Christmas Carol, or anything to do with it.

Can I just remind people getting aggrieved at particular movie threads that we had Kit-Kats playing a part in the best biscuit thread in a move that must have been organised by someone with the moral capacity and mental capability of an FAI Board member.

I hope ye all remember that when Die Hard (the original) wins this outright.

    Ho ho ho.

    Round 1, Match 21

    Probably too late, but...

Mary Poppins vs Home Alone 2. This is a tough one, but Mary Poppins is a classic with all its animation and magic. It gets my vote, despite rather than because of the music! Home Alone 2 is an enjoyable caper, but it is not quite a classic.

    Assault on Precinct 13

    Mary Poppins .

Out and out classic film , which never dates and I watch it everytime it's on !

Assault on Precinct 13, one of my picks. Good to get a bit of exciting TV at Christmas instead of long winded family affairs.

Home Alone 2 through to the next round.

Assault is assaulting Dickens 4-0 at the moment.

The man who invented Christmas. Who doesn’t like a good origin story :pac:

The Man Who Invented Christmas .

Well , we wouldn't be playing this game if it wasn't for him would we !

Was actually 5-0 at the time. 5-1 now. Just for clarity.

    The man who invented Christmas.

Because Mam of 4 makes a very good point.

You may want to recount, because Assault has more than 4. I counted 6 (although 1 was reasonless), but I'll vote Assault on Precinct 13, because its in the interest of moving things along.

District 13 - enjoyed it and haven't seen the other one

Last Christmas. Because black Christmas is just too poor to go through.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,696 ✭✭✭Pretzill

I haven't seen either of the above but I reckon if Last Christmas was on the TV (at Christmas) I'd probably watch it. Black Christmas looks like somthing that should have been forgotton about, I certainly have?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Black Christmas, because I love a good slasher.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,134 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Good Lord there are so many bad Christmas movies.

Black Christmas cos sorority girls = bewbs.

Last Christmas also sounds horrific, no Love Actually anyways.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,034 ✭✭✭Ficheall

I'll guess Black Christmas, though I suspect it is nowhere near good as the benefit of the doubt I am giving it.

I LOVE While You Were Sleeping!

(but I dunno how to vote yet - clearly am behind here!)

Who would put Black Christmas in a top 5? Of anything?

I know nothing about Black Christmas, but I have seen Last Christmas and to call it utter sh*te does a disservice to sh*te, so Black Christmas it is.

The Wizard of Oz, although I have not yet attempted to watch it in sync with Dark Side of the Moon, gonna attempt it at some stage. Also drunk munchkins

MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET :) ...SUCH A WARM FILM

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Miracle On 34th Street - tough choice in general, because both are great, but since the other has zero connection to Xmas whatsoever, I'll go with Miracle.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,404 ✭✭✭✭sKeith

definetly miracle on 34th street, as wizard of oz is not an xmas movie.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,421 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

I vote the wizard of oz

Is it a christmas?..who knew?. Its one of my favourite movie so gets my vote. Go on Dorethy, get home to Kansas and put up that christmas tree.

I LOVE Wizard of Oz but Miracle on 34th Street is so lovely and Christmassy that it gets my vote.

Miracle on 34th Street! I love both versions but this one is my favourite! :)

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,134 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

    Miracle on 34th Street (again)

I nominated the remake here as I think it's one of the times they got it just right.

Wizard of Oz is a movie shown at Christmas. Not a Christmas movie (there is a big difference imo)

    Miracle
Because it's even better then the first miracle I voted for already!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,614 ✭✭✭Mehaffey1

Miracle on 34th Street, no great fan of it but Oz just happens to be a kids movie.
